There are a lot of Catholics who hero-worship Beck like a prophet. The guy turned his back on the Catholic Church for Mormonism, like you said. And his brand of Mormonism is this messianic end-times stuff with Obama playing the Antichrist…I think Beck actually is delusional. Something is not mentally right with that guy…
Gurney,

Don’t faint. I am posting a little, again. 😉 I love the Daily Show. Stewart shows no mercy when pointing out the lies, inconsistencies, and shortcomings of public figures.

Couldn’t agree more. The mass hysteria shows no trace of Christian love or even rational thinking.

We must stand firm in our Christian faith and prevent false doctrines from infiltrating our Churches; but this is entirely different from “terrorizing” our Muslim neighbors.

I think many on the extreme right are inciting fear and hatred–Glenn Beck really works it. Many Christians are unaware of the fact that Beck is Mormon and worships a god who is an exalted man.

Peace,
Anna

Did you see the episode of the Colbert Report about Glenn Beck’s crazy eyes? If not you can find it online. It’s hilarious. 😃

Colbert is a little much for me but at times he can be funny. I’ll have to look for it…

On Saturday Night Live Jason Sedakis does the most hilarious Glen Beck impersonation!

Watch this link at 2:28 into the skit

Louis Black is hilarious. He has this sketch called “Glen Beck has Nazi Tourettes” LOL…I like his commentary about Beck’s use of swasticas LOL

I’ll take CNN hands-down over Faux News. Fox is just the worst. MSNBC is super liberal. CNN tends toward more liberal thinking but is more moderate than MSNBC or Fox IMO. As a teacher and a union steward, I can’t stand listening to Fox. I need dramamine! LOL
CNN over all isn’t bad, but honestly I cring reading some of their stuff. They have the habbit of posting some very pro social reengineering stuff. Not as bad as MSNBC, I have real issues with them. I can at least take CNN…

With regard to fox, I would say avoid the talking heads. But I would say that with any news network, and lets not pretend CNN et. al. aren’t full of their own talking heads who are just as bad as any of the Limbagh’s (whatever) or Hannity’s out there.

If you check fox out for just plain news, they’re generally not as bad as you describe and in fact I’d say they’re generally very reliable with a noticeable right leaning slant which doesn’t always bother me truth be told.

I watched a CNN Special over the weekend that was about hate crimes and persecution of Muslims in America. Honestly, it was an eye-opener. They showed this Muslim community in Tennessee trying to build a mosque. These good ole boys burned all the bulldozers and construction equipment during the dead of night to stop it. Then they showed these folks banning together to fight the mosque’s construction. They tried to claim to the city that Islam wasn’t a religion. You see, in this town in TN if you’re building a religious edifice you don’t need to go through the process of getting special permits that other buildings require. These hardcore anti-muslim folks were claiming Islam is not a religion but a terrorist culture and they don’t believe in a real god so as a result they need to request all the other permits, etc. The court proceedings were a total joke. The arguments were so stupid. They showed the protestors yelling and cussing out the Muslims, a girl got a verbal beat-down by a Republican female senator when she couldn’t win the argument. It was something else. When some Muslims went out to check out the damage to the construction equipment, some good ole boys fired off some shots in a nearby wooded area that scared them to death. There was graffiti, etc.

This mass hysteria against the Muslims, the idea that they’re all out to ruin us, this Tea Party stuff, it reminds me of Hitler’s anti-Jewish stuff in the 1930’s, the paranoia that we have dangerous aliens amongst us.

Crazy…
Yes, this in fact is a real problem… While I do view Islam as being problematic and deficient, this behaviour should not be tolarated at all. It’s good to show open support for Christ, it’s good to favor the development of Christian Churches etc… It’s horrid to all of the sudden forget someone is made in the image of God because they are specifically followers of Islam, or generally not already Christian.

Depends on where your from, if your in Detroit for instance it’s really not such a shocker to see Muslims and there for you don’t have these kinds of issues. Or even where I am now, Raleigh NC. Start getting into real rurel parts of the state, say in Eastern Carolina you may very well run into something like this. The people there have a certain culture, that simply hasn’t had a need to change much. They don’t have new people moving there, therefore things pretty much stay the same.

If Christians are frustrated with seeing mosques springing up all over the place, maybe Christians should start having more than one or two kids! 😛 Islam isn’t taking over the world with its message, it’s taking over the world with numbers birthwise while Christians contracept into oblivion. 😦

Well maybe you guys have more insight on the Muslim Brotherhood that I do. But really whats concerned me is the MO and this fellows interview. Mind you, he was a member and his father a high ranking member of the MO.

He seems to relate in facts and with rare knowledge on the topic. Tell me what you think?

I find much in here thats logical and leads on to believe the Obama has a large knowledge in the area.

Never mind Natos report today by allied forces that in Libya already Taliban has been identidied by the Nato commander in rebal forces…In one day?

Catching a Cold, I feel terrible. 😦

I have to agree that Raleigh, Cary and Morrisville are okay. The people here have always been very friendly. No one has ever been rude to me about my religion. I’ve actually been treated very well in rural NC as well, but then again, I don’t hang out at the Grocery Boy Jr. much either. 🙂

Of course, this is a Hindu perspective. I know some Muslims who live around here, and I haven’t heard any of them complain either.

Incidentally, Glenn Beck has also caught the favorable attention of some Orthodox Jews due to his scathing criticism of Reform Judaism. More than a few Orthodox Jews do not accept Reform Judaism as Judaism at all. Beck and Torah Judaism together: strange bedfellows!

I don’t think you really understand, it’s not so much about “tradition”. It’s more just cultural, it’s just there and it doesn’t change because for certain things to change they need to be challenged. That’s what’s not happening, there’s little to know challenge to change, so it never happens. People grow up in a town, they work in the local business, many never see college.

My wife and I are doing our part, we just finished #1 and we’re going until we hit #4, after that we’ll see what God wants =)

This is what I was speaking on above when Tenn. came up. crazzeto is elaborating on it it bit more clearly.

Sorry about that I guess I was under the impression eveyone knew this. But he’s right, and yes it could be very shocking. First time I traveled this country I was left speechless.

Its just a known that there are pockets throughout this country where culture hasn’t changed much. Have to consider how young the US is. Which is correctly talked about that there are pockets in the deep south that are very much un-changed. This is true in many specific area’s of the states. Which is really why Tenn. didn’t surprize me much.

Northern New Mexico has a Spanish culture which is still speaking 15 century dialect. Parts of the Mid-West and mid-north-west as I talked about when I attended college their are very Cowboy and American Indian still.

And they see very different than us, They are tolerating us in their eye’s. And this is why I also say although the attacks against Islam are not acceptable. Its not aimed at just Islam when we talk about these unchanged areas. They have little use for anyone who doesn’t fit their image of what life is in America. And that would include me being white.

I can assure you I was very surprized the first time I was called “Boy” in the midwest. And knowing that I was going to live their awhile, to a degree I also had to adopt to “their” lifestyle. What good would it had done me to continue to wear a NYC dress and impose my modern thinking and will on a developed culture that was wearing Cowboy hats and boots, Flannel shirts and jeans and driving pick-ups with 12-gauge shot-guns in the back window?

Its a give and take situation. And it will be this way for Islam also. It works very much as I stated earlier in this thread. You first learn to understand, Not walk in rejecting another lifestyle which has served them well in their mind. Once you can break bread in “peace” then you can start talking about differences. And hopefully with those who are capable of change, and honest communication, then it will occur.

Listen, just as you are not going to change a 50 yo man who has lived his life as he has in the Mountains of Tenn. You are also not going to change a 50 yo muslim who also brings his issues to the table which also are barbaric.

God Bless, Gary

How do you learn and understand about cutting off hands and feet, flogging people simply for drinking an alcoholic beverage, stoning people for committing adultery and flogging also those who commit fornication? All of this is part of Islam and its barbaric sharia law. There is nothing peaceful about Islam. It’s always been a religion of hatred and violence. It’s all there in the Quran, which ex-Muslim Wafa Sultan has called a training manual for terrorists.

If Islam is “peaceful”, where is the freedom of religion in the Middle East?

You don’t, nor is that idea encouraged anywhere on this thread. Very much to the contrary.

Just as the Slavery of the South didn’t fly, nor will the slavery of Islam though extremist Islam and Sharia Law. And that is what we are opposed to here in the US.

I know you read this one post. But did you read through the thread?

We already concluded on this thread Sharia Law does not fit into the US Constitution. Nor will we accept that.

So when we say Islam. We have to first understand and define if we are talking how Islam is lived in the Middle East by large or how we live in the US and allow Islam to live here? Two very different idea’s.

This thread is directed toward Islamic life in the US.

Is your view that Islam has no place in the West? Then we should do what?

Yes, I’ve read through the thread see that thare are many bleeding heart liberals who actually believe that we can coexist with Islam in our midst! That is a myth!

Islam is the enemy of freedom

So I believe you believe you have clearly identified this issue. Then you also must have a solution. What would that be?
