In my opinion, the childish antics of Muslims across the world that we see are symptomatic of a huge inferiority complex. This would be because these cultures are so overshadowed by the dominant Western ones such as Europe and North America.

Here’s a related article that I found which echos my theory.
So, why are the ideas of Islamic extremists like Sayyid Qutb so popular? That’s where Western geopolitics, including our imperialism, play a role. The Arabic world suffers from an extreme case of an inferiority complex (I’m not using this in a harshly critical sense - it just seems to be the best label). Islam was once “Number One,” but now it’s at the bottom of the heap when it comes to military, political, scientific, economic, and cultural influence.

I think it’s humiliating to these people that the West is so far ahead in everything. Saudi Arabia is utterly dependant on the West and other countries for everything. They import most of their technological, scientific, and medical personel. They have a lot of cash merely by the accident of there being oil on their land, sort of like Jed Clampett and the Beverly Hillbillies.

And, like a poor, uneducated fellow who suddenly wins the lottery, they aren’t really up to speed with others in their economic class, they throw money around in silly ways like rock stars, and they know deep inside that they really don’t belong. Some people react to that with an inferiority complex, a symptom of which is what we are seeing in the Muslim world today. It’s not unlike an ignorant white guy who joins the Aryan Nations. It’s a reaction to his realization that he is basically a loser, so as a defense mechanism he attempts to claim racial superiority.

That’s my hypothesis 🤓

Im very sure that Inferiority Complex makes up a big portion of what is wrong in the Middle East. And to add to this the Mullahs are at the very core of the unrest that we see. They could be leading the masses in another more construction direction but this would jeapardize their position of power in their religious circles.

I don’t think this hypothesis is correct, at least not in telling us what the main problem is. I don’t think your hypothesis covers the main problem. The main problem is Islam itself. The main problem is the teachings of the Quran and the teachings and example of Muhammad. Islam makes Muslims feel superior.

For example, in Sura 9:29 (in the Quran), we read (from 3 translations)

[Shakir 9:29] Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.

[Yusufali 9:29] Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

[Pickthal 9:29] Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low.

Then surmising:

The closer a Muslim gets to the Quran and ALL of its beliefs the closer they get to all out war with the Infidels.

The closer a Christian gets to the Bible and Tradition and ALL of its beliefs the closer they get to Theosis.

Dear Disciple,
Well, it sounds to me that Islam originates in an inferiority complex. Those passages sound like the same immature attitude. It’s so interwoven with the cultural attitudes of the Arab world, it’s indistiquishable.

The Arab culture feels inferior because they are not extremely functional. They refuse to adapt.

Now look, as a contrast, to the Japanese. My son is a history major and he is facinated by the Japanese. These people are remarkably adaptable. Not too long after the American steamboats came to their harbors, they got busy and made their own. They weren’t too proud to ignore when another culture had something worth imitating. They looked at the West and saw that it had a lot on the ball. That country had the fastest industrialization in the world!

I have read some of the Koran. The Koran I read had a lot of commentary against Chistians and Jews in it. My feeling was that much of Islam is reactionary to Judaism and Christianity. The religion came after Christ. It is basically a false religion that was invented by a false prophet. Yes, it does have some positive philosophical ideas woven into it, but basically the religion is reactionary and opposed to Christianity. Instead of accepting Christ, they decided to set up shop with their own religion. They view us a marketplace compitition and will use any and all tactics to gain a monopoly. Their product is inferior, so they have to bring in their strongarm henchmen to force people to buy it.

And compared what Jesus has taught Christians from the Bible.

Matt 10:14-15 “And if anyone does not welcome you or listen to what you have to say as you walk out of the house or town shake the dust from your feet. I tell you solemnly, on the day of Judgment it will not go as hard with the land of Sodom and Gomorrah as with that town” In other words Islam demands forced submission, Christians will leave them to the mercy of God.

What I find hilarious about “with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.” There is nothing “willing” about it. It’s forced. How can somebody with a sword to their throat “willing” submit?
Code:
And you so rightly quote from Isaiah “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil..”
Killing, burning, maiming, somebody in the name of Allah is good? If that is the Muslim god, then I fear for them at the last day.

well at least they do have this inferiority on individual level; in my country, muslims love to live in Christian neighborhood, go to Christian Universities and schools; they go to our parks, to our restaurants, even to our Holy sites! and whatever trend we make, they immitate it, but of course after "islamizing " it lool…

Agreed. Curious, can anyone point me to these areas of Islam that do have some positive philosophical ideas woven into it? I’d bet that even those areas are still built on lies and deceit.

You are all very ignorant and clearly know nothing of the Muslim faith. To say that Muslims are a violent and dangerous people is certainly a brash generalization.
What makes you all so high and mighty? What proof do you have of your faith’s perfection and truth? What about the “eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth” adage? To suggest that the Quran is violent and war-breeding is hypocritical: look at the Old Testament. Have you read the book of Genesis? The story of the Rapture is the most violent thing that I have ever read in a book, and I am a Stephen King fan.

I’m sure you all will stick to your guns about Catholicism and Islam, but just once try to open your eyes about other religions. In the Quran, it says to respect “all peoples of the book,” meaning Christians and Jews. Does your holy book say something of that sort? Maybe you better do some research before you go bashing anyone’s religion.

And by the way, no I am not Catholic, though I was raised one. I am agnostic and have great respect for faithful people of any kind. I know many faithful people and some of the most kind, charitable and peace-loving are Muslims. To say that they have an inferiority complex is pretty self-righteous.

Also, many Muslims are far more faithful than the average Christian.

I’m sure that this post will be taken down before most people will see it, but my point is not to be offensive or to say that Islam is better than Catholicism (in my opinion they are both valuable). All that I ask is that you rethink your statements. God is watching.

Where is the Rapture mentioned in the Book of Genesis? Stephen King is considered a mellow fellow in my books. I have read, played and watched better horror movies in my lifetime.

I would not be too sure about this and I would not associate any specific characteristic to a particular race. Past History and socio-cultural factors do affect people behavior, but otherwise I’d not agree with you.

I am now convinced that the Quran is a political ideology made used by an ambitous and a shrewd man for his own gain. He exploited the prevailing chaotic situation and the lack of organized government, religion and culture of the different tribes in the Arabian Peninsula. With a specific ideology albeit religous in nature he was able to rein in followers wtih a specific cause. It’s the same with Communism, Facism and revolutions.

He needed to find scapegoats, ie Jews and Christians, and moved on to discredit them. You would need somebody to blame in any revolution, and that was Mohammad strategy. If we look at Islam, it’s all racist - Arabism. So you have it - racism and scapegoats - and there you are, a revolution takes place.

Until today Islam stands on the premises that someone else is wrong for it to be relevant. How difficult it is then when the very people and religion that are suposed to be wrong stand on better ground than them? Here you are right. They cannot accept it. They refuse to adapt. But the reality, Judeo-Christianity culture stand much more advance and sophisticated than them. The natural consequence of mental conflict, doubt and uncertainty surely give rise to low self-esteemed and inferiorirty complex among Muslims.

Inferiority complex is a dangerous thing as we can see now.

BTW, have you considered other factors that are also important contributors to the alleged inferiority complex among Muslims, namely the spirtual/religious factor?

In Islam, Muslims are considered slave of Allah in a relationship akin to absolute master and slave. A slave in this case will do anything for the cause of the master. A slave which is expedient as along as it serves the Master’s cause. A slave does not expect much love except for the mercy and justice of the master. He will only wait for the master’s help and intervention to protect him.

It makes sense when you see that Muslims would like to be in the position of victims or underdogs. Thus when Allah’s slave is being oppressed and victimized, only then the master would come to the rescue. There is therefore not much of love of the master being experienced by the slave. The relationship is very calculated like an employer and the employee. The slave always feels unworthy who can be disposed anytime when the master feel it fits to do so.

This is in contrast to the mentality of Christians. Chritsians believe that they are sons and daughters of God. God is like a father to them who loves them. His love for them is so great that he gave his own life for their sake. He is like a father who gives anything they would ask. He tells them they are his adopted sons and daughters and they are precious in his eyes.

Thus Christians will always feel worthy in God eyes in contrast to the Muslims who are unworthy and lowly slaves in the eyes of Allah. Christians who truly experience the love of God would never feel abandoned or unloved which in turn give them self confident and joy in their lives. 🙂

well said Reuben.

The Muslim submits to Allah, the absolutely transcendent ruler of the universe, in return for his mercy and beneficence. There ain’t no love between Allah and his creation.

Allah merely is the apotheosized image of an Oriental despot, emphatically not the Judeo-Christian God of love. According to German-Jewish theologian Rosenzweig, he basically repudiates the notion of Islamic culture. As a caricature, Islam is entirely sterile: “Islam never created an Islamic art, but rather took into its service pre-Islamic art … The pre-Islamic state, namely the Oriental state in its Byzantine form, made Islam into its state religion; the pre-Islamic spirit of the Koran adopted either pre-Islamic rationalism or mysticism and orthodoxy. In Europe, by contrast, in Christian Europe, there arose something new: Christian art, and a Christian state.”

Love requires the Judeo-Christian God to create the world. By contrast, “the God of Mohammed is a creator who well might not have bothered to create. He displays his power like an Oriental potentate who rules by violence, not by acting according to necessity, not by authorizing the enactment of the law, but rather in his freedom to act arbitrarily. By contrast, it is most characteristic of rabbinic theology that it formulates our concept of the divine power to create in the question as to whether God created the world out of love or out of righteousness.”

Allah’s creation for Rosenzweig is a mere act of “magic”. Muslim theology “presumes that Allah creates every isolated thing at every moment. Providence thus is shattered into infinitely many individual acts of creation, with no connection to each other, each of which has the importance of the entire creation. That has been the doctrine of the ruling orthodox philosophy in Islam. Every individual thing is created from scratch at every moment. Islam cannot be salvaged from this frightful providence of Allah … despite its vehement, haughty insistence upon the idea of the God’s unity, Islam slips back into a kind of monistic paganism, if you will permit the expression. God competes with God at every moment, as if it were the colorfully contending heavenful of gods of polytheism.”

It seems to me that there are several issues at play.

First, Islam does preach Arab superiority.

Second, there does seem to be an attitude that some Muslims have that want to be seen as successful so they do use items to show success.

Third, there seem to be issue that Muhammed held and they have been transmitted into Islam. For example, why were his wives not allowed to remarry?

**There is no inferiority complex. If at all, it is Judo-christians who are worried about their faith matters because they have drifted away from the real teachings. Now discussing about God, the God of judo-christians is a racial God. On the other hand the God of Islam is a universal God who created all and blessed all with guidance.

The Judo-christians claim guidance for themselves only. That cannot be true. The Jews blamed their prophets and even tried to kill them. The christians did the opposite i.e. reverred the one last Jewish prophet (Jesus) and made him into God and had him sit next to God. That is overplaying something. The Jews downplayed the men of God. The christians overplayed them.

This subject is discussed in the last lines of the very first chapter of Quran.**

And I suppose you’re here to tell us what those “real teachings” are from Muhammad’s hypothetical “uncorrupted” gospel given to Jesus, right? Nobody will listen, because that is the insane fantasy of Muhammad. (I am not saying Muhammad is insane, I’m saying his idea that Jesus was given a literal book that Christians corrupted is insane.)
Now discussing about God, the God of judo-christians is a racial God. On the other hand the God of Islam is a universal God who created all and blessed all with guidance.
And you’re basing this on what? Where in the Bible will it say that God is ONLY for one race? Jesus’ mission was first to the Jews, because they were His own people (this cannot be considered “racism” unless you want to then accept that Muhammad’s message was/is racist, as it is only for Arabs since it is revealed and transmitted only in Arabic), then later to the entire world. The entire world. Not one race.
The Judo-christians claim guidance for themselves only.
No we don’t. This is your fantasy, not Christian belief.
That cannot be true.
Indeed it isn’t. It’s either your lie or your ignorance.

Hi bro. I know you do this for kick because your friend Planten is actually not responding to the issue of this thread. 🙂

Poor Muslim posters here. Everytime they don’t have anything to say in defence of their theology, they start attacking other people hoping that we will get caught in the quagmire of mud slinging contest. I feel tempted to respond in kind sometimes but I’m just too tired of this sick game.

Maybe, just maybe, if any Muslims want to address this thread objectively, the issue is: Muslims are deemed to have inferiority complex. Some reasons offered that may contribute to this include inherent racial inclination of the Arabs, socio-cultural factor and spiritual religous factor. I did mention about Muslims/Allah relationship that’s akin to absolute master / slave relationship.

Now rebutt that, and you may well be right, then we are going somewhere.
