The man claimed he will make his conversion public on tv and satellite. Did it happen? i googled his name even in Arabic google and found nothing which is rather impossible if the whole thing were true.
Well, if someone tries to impress us with lying signs and wonders, what do you think he’s going to spread?

Hi Josie, I’ll admit I don’t know much about the early history of Christianity, would you be kind enough to open a new thread and answer the following questions, we could then engage the topic in more detail.
  • How many witnesses were there to the resurrection?
  • Did they all believe he was the son of god at that point?
  • which apostles were martyered for their faith in Jesus as the son of god? where can I find this record
  • of those that suffered tortureously, were they asked to recant their faith in Jesus as a diety? or Jesus as a messenger of god? and what evidence is there to support the claim that they died because of their belief in the divinity of Jesus
i’m curious to know what you make of Father Thamir’s dream and subsequent conversion to Islam. Do Christians acknowledge miracles happen in other faiths or do they believe they are wondrous lies
NOTE: He continues to dodge his central claims and instead wants to challenge our theology. He so far is unable to offer concrete proof of anything. His implication is: If my story is false, so are any miracles that happen within the sphere of Christ’s followers.

I didn’t see it myself but I heard he did on al-anwar satellite television

i hear lots of things everyday. We need proof. Neither google in Arabic mentions anything about such an incident nor English google beside your link. Seems its like the raining blood stuff found only on Shia sites.

famdigy: America is not the Middle East. There you can fabricate stories to fit your particular idea, regardless of how untrue it is. You continue to dodge the central issues of this discussion. 1) Give us verifiable proof of this supposed priest’s identity. 2) Post a photograph taken in a public place of a drawing of Mohammed.
And yet if this was a Muslim turned Catholic there’d be none of this asked for.

:rotfl:

The article is claiming a Catholic hierarchy converted to Islam. This is big deal (according to Muslims anyway). I too, would like to verify pictures of an Ulama ‘converting’ to Catholicism, skullcap and all. These kinds of da’wah pop up all over the internet from time to time. I don’t know if you guys remember a similar article put up by paarsurrey.

… we don’t rely on or consider Bukhari to be an authoritative source of islamic knowledge for us, that is because to us he is a member of the false Islam.
“False Islam”? How many Islam’s are there? Is there a one true Islam? Which one whould that be?

There is something wrong in this story and I am surprised that moderators have allowed it to continue along the same lines.
As one poster has said, these are the times of false signs.
Moderator should this string be allowed here?

Good to see the many good posts that point to the many possible fallacies in this story; since we live at a time of propaganda warfare , may not be bad for beievers to occasionally be aware of what is out there !

Having read in the past about communist infiltrators who assumed the role of priests, even if this person proves to be real , not much surprise there !

In the reported story itself , the following points also can be noted ( as much as this seems such a foolish venture to pay any time or attention to - well, may be this is equivalent to a little adult egg hunt game fun 🙂 )

1 - mention of TWO ’ bright ’ persons ; now , we have been warned that fallen angels too can appear as an angel of light ; could he have been led into deception by the second fallen angel even if the healing could have come from the first !

In most cases of near death experience, when the dead person’s soul returns to the body, the body still needs healing ;seems in this case , the person just walked out !

Even if a full healing took place and he was really raised from the dead,if he is an agent of falsehood now, we still have words of our Lord - Mathew 7.23 - ‘depart from me evil doers, I never knew you .’

Now, interesting that the purported Ali has a connection with Fatima ; let us hope and pray that the true Lady of Fatima (our Bl.Mother ) would intercede for all , to lead them to the eternal life .
Peace !

Why does it matter.

Let’s say the man was a Bishop and did believe he saw Imam Ali. Does that mean he actually saw the good Imam? Accecpting every bit of the story as true you have a man who converted to Islam because he believes he was saved by an Imam. That’s about as meaningful as a Muslim converting to Christianity after he “saw Jesus”.

According to the Holy Hadith, there will be 72 different groups within Islam, all of them are in hell except one. This hadith is accepted by most Muslims, all of them believe they are the saved group. The most prominent ones are:

Islam of the Bakris’ (commonly known as Sunni), this is the Islam of the rulers, and tyrants, and terrorists, the Islam of the hypocrites Abu Bakr, Umar, Aisha, and so on… The imposter, false and corrupted Islam. The Islam of the running god, who mounts a mosquito, who shows off his legs and so on… The Islam of the tyrant prophet, who is a sexual deviant, ill mannered, forgets his revelation, tortures and kills innocents ect…

Then you have the Islam Original, the Islam of Muhammad and his Family (Peace be upon him and his holy family), this is the Islam of love, of compassion, mercy and acceptance of others as equals in humanity. Islam of the infallibles and sinless, they are the embodiment of the Qur’an in human form. They are the gates of knowledge, the arc of Noah. The preservers and guardians of the religion whom we take all of our teachings from.

So when I say Bukhari is not authoritative for us, it is because Bukhari is a scholar of the Bakris whom we don’t consider to be Muslims in the first place

He said Christian not Catholic, he could easily be a non-Roman Catholic or some sort of Orthodox or Protestant. Maybe Anglican?
How do wolves celebrate the summer solstice online anyway?
Why an eRitual of course.

Among Arabs, I haven’t heard of Anglicans. Most Anglicans in that region would come from the west.

So am I to understand that all Sunnis will go to hell?

Why is it that all Shiites will not go to hell instead? Do Sunnis teach that all Shiites will go to hell?

Why is the Sunni version of Islam false and the Shia version true?

Why is Mohammed’s descendants to be believed over Umar and Aisha? Half the Islamic world, it seems, claims to be descended from Mohammed.

i.e they would probably be soldiers from the UK and the US and would have their own chaplains. No, if this man truly was a bishop he was either Catholic or Orthodox. We have proven that he is not Catholic, therefore there are two options left, that he was Orthodox, or that such a man never existed. I am inclined to believe the latter.

There are enough of them to have been mentioned in the news a few times. There is a permanent Anglican presence there, & they have had a difficult time of it recently; some were kidnapped & killed in 2005:

All Churches are suffering - Catholic, Assyrian, Anglican, Orthodox.

As to the Bible being by Nasrani’s “fathers” - that could mean the spiritual forebears of the (supposed) bishop. Christians use the word “fathers” for people not related to them all the time. But even so, that does not begin to substantiate the poster’s story.
