The freedom to make up your own religion… who could turn it down?
Why that is exactly what Mohammed did. He couldn’t turn it down. So he plagarized parts of the Bible and took from the Jewish religion and the Christian religion to make a system of belief which is wholly contradictory. My understanding is the old part is peaceful and the new is war like. You know the part where it’s right to kill people who don’t believe. Like me, an infidel.

Kind of like Joseph Smith, or L. Ron Hubbard. They made up their own religions too.

Being a member of the church created by Christ gives us much comfort in our hope for eternal life.

And he somehow believed that the Messiah had failed.

“For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible.”

“This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.”

Except that Mohammed never performed any miracles. It was a he said vision.

in islam , you have an option only while you alive , after your death it’s over

i thought it’s the same in christianity , that you have a chance as long as you are alive .
it’s the first time for me to find someone saying to me that theire is probability for those died while rejecting christ to get salvation if someone christian prayed to him after he died
i think this theory contradict the teaching of the bible itself which says that believing in christ is the only way , unless if someone believed in him after his death 😃
There is another aspect to prayer for the dead. This is the fact that only we are subject to Time. God is outside of Time and is in Eternity. All of Time is open to Him, from Creation to the End of Time. For us, the person is dead and gone, but God may use our prayers for the person while they were alive on earth because He is not bound by Time as we are. In this way, I can pray for the conversion of the soldiers who crucified Christ, for instance, even though they are long dead.

You are correct in understanding that each person has the choice to accept or reject Christ during their lifetime. If you die rejecting Christ, there is no hope of eternal life. The thing is, we don’t know people’s hearts. They could have converted on their deathbed, even if no one witnessed or heard their conversion. We can’t presume to judge.

This is very important. It is God’s prerogative to Judge. Anyone who presumes to judge the state of someone else’s soul is usurping God’s prerogative. This is a most heinous crime against God. As He tells us, “Judge not, lest ye be Judged”.

In this way, I can pray for the conversion of the soldiers who crucified Christ, for instance, even though they are long dead.
.
Thank you for posting that. I never thought of that. I will remember to say some prayers for those who appeared to be in a bad relationship with God.

i will try to short my story

there are three major things

1- why i left islam

2- why i chose christ

3- why i want to be catholic

well its start with a word

a year ago when michael jackson died i remember i pray for him because i was sad but my friends told me you cant pray for a died infidel he is in hell and praying for a dead infidel is against our religion

and they were very mad because i only said ((god bless his soul)) and that made me think why many muslims hate others

i said to my self is it islam or is it us that we did not understand it ? it was clear that it is from islam

you can see it in the holy quran 9:113 were it said you cant pray for mercy fot the infidel

so i start to lose faith because islam is against my nature and i know that i was not born to hate others but love them

then i did discover many mistakes in the quran and hadith and many hate passages

so i ask god to help me and let me know the truth because i believe in god but islam does not give me peace

i did not want to be christian because islam teach that christians are praying to three gods

but i could feel the holy spirit saying to my soul give christ a chance, and after understanding who is jesus christ and what is his story and why he was crucified i start to fell in love with him 😊

so i pray to god and ask him if christ is you prove it to me

and he did !! it take me long time to accept him as my saviour which i did in 9/22/2010

i did not care what will happen to me because it is a big crime to leave islam in my country

i felt sorry for all those years where i was living a lie

and i felt my soul is having a connection with god ! it was the best feeling i have ever felt

but than i need to be away from my muslim friends for some time because i want to know more about christ so i said to my self i need to join the church so i can share my faith with others

so i ask the arab christians who are praising the bible on the intenet and trying to convert muslims (70% of them are protestant - 30% orthodox) what is the diffrent between the churchs and why there is catholic and orthodox and protestant ?

some told me they are all the same it’s only a diffrent style !! that answer did not help… many are against the traditional churchs and they told me catholics are the road to hell and they are doing crazy stuff that is not in the bible

and many of those pastors told me dont join the catholic church it will may destroy your salvation

but i was not convinced by what they were saying i must search my self because i have not seen any arabic catholic yet

so i pray to god and start to read about the history of christianity and the church and i realize that the catholic church have the full truth and the catholic church every thing they do and teach is biblical and the first christians were practising it , not only that! the catholic church wrote the bible and chose the four gospels becuase they are matching what the Apostles praise .

and the catholics have very strong position about thier dogma more than any other church

it’s funny when you read martin luther who began all this and made the way for a 40 000 new church is saying

"If Christ had not entrusted all power to one man(the pope), the Church would not have been perfect because there would have been no order and each one would have been able to say he was led by the Holy Spirit. This is what the heretics did, each one setting up his own principle. In this way as many Churches arose as there were heads. Christ therefore wills, in order that all may be assembled in one unity, that His power be exercised by one man to whom He Himself commits it. He has, however, made this power so strong that He looses all the powers of Hell (without injury) against it. He says: “The Gates of Hell shall not prevail against it” as though He said: “They will fight against it but never overcome it,” so it is in this way it is made manifest that this power is in reality from God and not from man. Wherefore, whoever breaks away from this unity and order of the power, let him not boast of great enlightenment and wonderful works, as our Picards and other heretics do, ‘for much better is obedience than to be the victims of fools who know not what evil they do

and after a year he start to call the pope anti christ !!

the catholic church will always have the full truth

i will trust a church that establish by christ himself not a church begin 400 or 100 years ago

i will trust a bible that contain 73 book who the Apostles praise and the holy spirit help to chose and it was there for centuries not the bible that was made by martin luther who remove 7 books .

and i will respect the authority of the church on that bible and the tradition that they took from the apostles and the church fathers

so after searching and reading i was sure that the catholic church has the keys of heaven

other churches have some of the truth but not all of it

that is my story 😃
Welcome to the Church, even though it is not formal yet, you are still a member of our family (:, I am a convert my self, from Atheism.

My prayers are with you Lucy, and may St John the Baptist, the Patron Saint of converts, pray for the both of you (:

arabic catholic , you didn’t answered my question

do you think that when a christians ask forgivness for an athiest who reject jesus and reject christianity , may God accept thier prayer ? if it yes then can i say that christ not the only way for salvation
if the answer is no , then your prayer not exceed the meaning of respect

tell me what is the view of christianity you understand about this point .
May I answer?

The Lord may accept there prayers, but those who do not believe still have to ask for forgiveness, and the Lord will grant it, I was an Atheist, and even before i had converted Christ had forgiven me, all it took was me to accept his forgiveness, We pray not just for teh forgivness of there sins against us, but also for there conversion, that they may see the light of Christ, and have a hope in a share of the Eternal Heavenly Kingdom of God.

The greatest gift we can give anyone is our petitions to the Lord, and asking our deceased brothers and sisters in the Church Triumphant (the saints) to join our prayers with theirs, the Lord will accept all prayers, it will not fall on deaf ears, but his answer for the unfaithful may simply be “not yet, I will lead them to me”.

It’s completely the opposite in Christianity. The Jews even used to pray and offer sacrifices for the dead (I don’t know if they still pray for the dead, but I’m sure they still do). It was a practise that goes back to before Christianity.
you don’t understand what i’m talking about

i’m talking about prayer for mercy and forgivness for those who rejected jesus whole thier life then dead in this believe , will the prayer of christians for them to get salvation may be answered ?
I could never genuinly love God if I believed that His morals, love and mercy are inferior to those of mere humans’.
in islam God loves believer than unbliever and he loves the rightious than the sinners , i’m sorry that you don’t like that

i appreciate your answer , but it wasn’t my question actually
in islam you can pray for anyone (nonmuslim) as long as he’s alive

i’m talking about prayer for someone after his death as an athiest for example , thanx

what about limited that to our knowledge for now
i mean suppose that your neighbour who was pagan all of his life died suddenly in his paganism , in that case may God accept your prayer for him to get salvation of christ even if you were sure in your own knowledge that he died in paganism , let us suppose that in the knowledge of God he was pagan when he died either

actually this is what quran said , " after it was clear to them that they are companion of fire "
It is not fitting, for the Prophet and those who believe, that they should pray for forgiveness for Pagans, even though they be of kin, after it is clear to them that they are companions of the Fire.

Linda Marie
seems to me that you agree that you can pray for dead nonchristian , becasue their is probability that he convert to christianiy in the bed of death
is that mean that it will be useless prayer if he didn’t convert in his bed before his death as you suppose ?

Ewill, you are assuming you know exactly what God does to a soul after death therefore you know exactly what to pray for or not for. Christians are taking into account that we don’t know everything that happens after death, hence the prayer needed to acknowledge God knows what is best. If Christ isn’t part of their salvation after death, only God knows. It comes down to us judging one’s soul or God judging. Who are all of us humans to judge the final sentence of one’s soul? Prayer lands it back to God’s hands,as it always was anyway.Prayer is also love shown out to that person. You can’t go wrong with love. right?

It’s a more reasonable time here so i can give a better answer, so i thought I’ld come in. We do not know the will of God, lets say someone like Ghandi, who was extremely moral, it may be the Lords will that he has a share in the Kingdom of God, even though as far as we know he died without converting, we can not judge someones fate after life, the Saints are only those we have recognised that they have entered the kingdom of God, but we know there are more people in Heaven, even those that may have never known the Light of Christ through invincible ignorance, we just don’t know who, same as we know there is most likely people in Hell, we just don’t know who.

you don’t understand what i’m talking about
Sorry 😊
talking about prayer for mercy and forgivness for those who rejected jesus whole thier life then dead in this believe , will the prayer of christians for them to get salvation may be answered ?
We don’t know what happens to souls when they appear to be dead. Catholics like to ask Mary to “pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death”. When we die, a spritual battle begins. Devils are trying to claim the soul, but our guardian angels are fighting the devils off. Saints is praying for us etc…

Here is a vision that St. Faustina had between God and a soul. I don’t ask you to believe it, but it will explain the Catholic view.
Jesus: O soul steeped in darkness, do not despair. All is not yet lost. Come and confide in your God, who is love and mercy.
-But the soul, deaf even to this appeal, wraps itself in darkness.
Jesus calls out again: My child, listen to the voice of your merciful Father.
-In the soul arises this reply: “For me there is no mercy,” and it falls into greater darkness, a despair which is a foretaste of hell and makes it unable to draw near to God.
Jesus calls to the soul a third time, but the soul remains deaf and blind, hardened and despairing. Then the mercy of God begins to exert itself, and, without any co-operation from the soul, God grants it final grace. If this too is spurned, God will leave the soul in this self-chosen disposition for eternity. This grace emerges from the merciful Heart of Jesus and gives the soul a special light by means of which the soul begins to understand God’s effort; but conversion depends on its own will. The soul knows that this, for her, is final grace and, should it show even a flicker of good will, the mercy of God will accomplish the rest.
My omnipotent mercy is active here. Happy the soul that takes advantage of this grace.
Jesus: What joy fills My Heart when you return to me. Because you are weak, I take you in My arms and carry you to the home of My Father.
Soul (as if awaking, asks fearfully): Is it possible that there yet is mercy for me?
Jesus: There is, My child. You have a special claim on My mercy. Let it act in your poor soul; let the rays of grace enter your soul; they bring with them light, warmth, and life.
Soul: But fear fills me at the thought of my sins, and this terrible fear moves me to doubt Your goodness.
Jesus: My child, all your sins have not wounded My Heart as painfully as your present lack of trust doesthat after so many efforts of My love and mercy, you should still doubt My goodness.
Soul: O Lord, save me yourself, for I perish. Be my Savior. O Lord, I am unable to say anything more; my pitiful heart is torn asunder; but You, O Lord… Jesus does not let the soul finish but, raising it from the ground, from the depths of its misery, he leads it into the recesses of His Heart where all its sins disappear instantly, consumed by the flames of love.
Jesus: Here, soul, are all the treasures of My Heart. Take everything you need from it.
in islam God loves believer than unbliever and he loves the rightious than the sinners , i’m sorry that you don’t like that
I don’t like it because the greater the sin, the more they are entitled towards God’s mercy.
What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin;
as it is written,
There is none righteous, not even one… All have turned aside…”
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," - Romans 2.
"Stop judging, that you may not be judged.
For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you.
Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye? – Matt 7

I don’t like a Muslim response to claim that anyone cannot pray for one’s soul to be saved by pervent prayers eventhough that the soul may be pagan’s or unbeliever’s.

This is the reason why Islam is so detached to the teachings of the “Love your Neighbor as you love yourself” because they seems to judge one’s soul already because of the poor teachings of Muhammed. I think this is the reason also why the CAF is hesitant to continue Muslim related threads because of the values of the understandings Muslims want to insist in these forums.

No doubt that I would agree to the CAF moderators. The only thing that Islam threads are coming up from time to time is because there are those who are new wishes to ask. It is therefore hopeless anymore to answer Muslims with their stubborn attitude towards understanding what “Love” means to Christians. This is the virtue that Islam may not want to discuss because it totally contradicts the whole meaning of Islam.

I agree. The more I learn about Christianity, the more I see love and friendship being discussed, rather than being a slave in the eyes of God. I am falling in love with God all over again, because now I understand that He first loved me- I don’t believe anymore that God considers any of us His slaves.

Is there any former Muslims here who have made that jump? I’m considering it, and if all my research continues matching up I most likely will.
We wait in joyful hope

May God bless you in your continuing conversion

Peace,

Steven

It’s so heartwarming that God’s love is this strong

what sort of God has favourites??? Not the Christian God, he loves us ALL equally.
After all, we are all his creation, why would he make people who he wouldnt love just as much and equally?

True Christianity, through the presence, teachings, and power of Christ who exists in all time, through His ministers, extol us to use our time well, to be educated, to use reason, and not serve the carnal flesh. I am referring to early church fathers such as St. Athanasius.

It is through Christ that we are re-united to God and re -united to our neighbor. It is said that those who say they love God but hate their neighbor are liars.

The greatest power on earth is LOVE.
