Psst, don’t pay any attention to Sister Amy, Walid. She is brainwashed and blind and always changes the subject…
you are here not even one week & you know that she ’ always’ changes the subject ? huh .

How rude, Wina! He is obviously interested in Christianity and is questioning Islam; wouldn’t the charitable, Christian response be to guide him?
You are right that I might be rude but I didn’t attend to be rude. As he explained why then I could understand. Have you read all posts before you posted it?

**Emarc, please remember that the order to give 1/2 to the ladies was in such a time and area where the ladies had no right at all. **
but women today in some muslim countries still have no rights. they can’t have education, can’t drive cars, can’t vote, can’t leave the house w/o chaperon, can’t have their own business unlike their counterpart in non-muslim countries who in all honesty you can say have equal rights even w/ men. my point is even if you give “1/2 to the ladies” what good does it do if these ladies are left “naked” on many important issues?
God bless.

**Rape does not require ANY witnesses for the rapist to be punished. **

Why then do women have to produce FOUR male witnesses who are Muslim and then they get stoned to death themselves. How is that just?

I find it truly disturbing how Muslims address other Muslims on boards like these as if they have no right to question it. The peace/salaam bit that comes as well makes me laugh (we can see through you).

The fact is that when people start to question it they learn it is a false religion and begin to hate it. They even build websites against it. No wonder you don’t want them finding out the truth that you cannot yet see yourself.

Here is another apostate who can help you on the path to freedom: gilead.ws/answeringislam.html

Welcome to freedom Walid - you are almost there!

** Emarc, you are right in some way. The present situation is like that. But it has not always been like that.

Moreover, we are discussing religions here. Not the behaviour of Muslims or christians. If you have anything about inheritance in the bibleNT then please bring it. Otherwise it will be understood that bible ignores any rights for the ladies and the present day improvement is by the non-religious secular people who legislated some good laws similar to the laws of Islam. May be they after all learnt the good things from islam.**

The Quran and Sharia (Islamic Law) even allow men to take female slaves, as captives of war and force them to have sex. In our cultural context that is rape. A man may have up to 4 wives at once and as many female slaves as he can afford. Be aware that most religiously-educated Muslims know this but will suggest that Islam intended to eradicate concubinage. The problem with this is that progressive revelation has never been embrassed by the 4 Sunni schools of thought. If there were a truly Islamic state with significant military might, they could (by Sharia) and would utilize these rules. What you see in the west is a kinder, gentler Islam that, in fact, is mostly way to liberal for most hard-core Muslims.

THIS STATEMENT IS FALSE!
Sister Amy:
Rape does not require ANY witnesses for the rapist to be punished.
The above statement was quoted by Sister Amy in replying to my query about whether rape requires the four witnesses or not. She was so dead certain that no such requirement is necessary that she even asked me to let her know if ever there is anyone who disputes it.

So much for credibility here.

Jewish & Christians holy book also allowed that . So , what’s your point here ?

Holy Quran says to bring 4 witnesses if anyone brings any charge against any woman.

If they can’t do that , punishment is …I forgot now…80 or 100 lashes ; also their testimony won’t be accepted ever.

There is no such verse in Quran that says a raped woman must bring 4 witnesses.

That was a good one from sis Amy. And the punishment must be stoning to death in public.

** Yes, you are right swariffin, Islam is a complete code of life for all mankind till doomsday. It is the last testament for all mankind. It has its religious politics but it is not a political religion. It is all spiritual. Primarily spiritual and spiritual till the end unless provoked into politics.

Then Islam has its good politics too, better than any one else.
**
In other words, it is true that in Islam, religion and politic are one.

You mean you would really stone a person to death without any witnesses to confirm the crime?

Goodness, what great law you have!

your use of the word “ignore” is inappropriate. that one conduct of giving “1/2 inheritance to woman” may not specifically be written but clearly implied, and so with many other equal rights women must have with men (that men in the muslim world do not follow) when in Gen 2:18 the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone, I will make a suitable PARTNER for him.” marriage in Christianity is a partnership; men loving their wives just as Jesus loves his Church, which encompasses what you proudly claim. this is the teaching in Christianity even for husband to die for his wife just as Jesus died for us.
God bless.

This is a non sequitur. Just because something is not addressed doesn’t mean all rights are ignored.

This is also a non sequitur. It does not follow that Western secular law is the way it is because secular people learned anything from Islam. When equality before the law was legislated [14th Amendment], it was at a time when the majority of the people were very religious and influenced by Christian thought, namely all are created in the image and likeness of God, are equally loved by God, and therefore should be treated equally before the secular laws. This is the Golden Rule mentioned earlier. Islam is the only ideology that claims to be a religion that does not have an equivalent to the Golden Rule. Where does Islamic foundational texts say that Allah loves believers and non-believers alike and all are made in his image and likeness? Mohammad never treated believers and non-believers the same. That’s where dhimmihood comes from.

The only thing the West has learned from Islam is to avoid it [of course, some have not learned that yet].

I would recommend Dinesh D’Souza’s book “What’s So Great about Christianity”. It deals with some of these very issues. It is a good read for a Christian or a Muslim. I suppose he intended to show that Christianity was far and away the answer to the new atheists. Surprisingly, though, I thought that particular part of the book was the least convincing. The best part of the book, in my opinion, was when he addressed the necessary link between religion and morality. I have to agree with what was previously mentioned. Many peoples from various parts of the world, with various faith traditions have made some wise laws. I say that wisdom is a human heritage, thank God.

You beat me to it sedonaman.

This is one of the weaknesses that many people think Islam has - that it defines civil law absolutely instead of being able to adapt as change occurs.

The idea of civil inheritance laws that worked in the 6th century sands of Arabia being forced on people worldwide under different circumstances is absurd.

People who look to God would know he is much smarter than to lay down incomplete civil laws to this extent for all time. Rather Christians look to spiritual values when forming and adapting a variety of civil laws that meet the needs of the time.

The idea that God gives a complete and definite list of civil laws to be obeyed for all times is a big weakness of Islam.

Just taking inheritance to women - what if the girl is handicapped and needs a benefactor, if she has left Islam, what if she is a slave (or didn’t they count), if she is a half daughter, an adopted daughter, a long time neice who has looked after her uncle for 50 years ? - that’s why we have civil law - to iron out all the complications.

What about traffic accidents, injury and property liability, speed limits and traffic rules and car industry standards etc etc. Do Islamic countries who legislate for this ‘add to the laws of the Koran’ ?

Shouldn’t the final book of Allah not need to be improved in the eyes of Muslims ?

Did Allah forget about traffic regulations ? Is it not important ?
Is the Koran incomplete and traffic legislations come later ?

The whole idea is ludicrous and makes Islamic claims of God declaring civil law from an eternal heavenly old Arabic dialect written book look absolutely farcical.

Planten, the idea of an eternal civil law book given by God is a big weakness of Islam and makes God look stupid. He is not stupid.

Yep. Quran never mentioned about Bomb and yet the Islamic terrorist did use bomb. Quran never mentioned hash-hish (a kind of narcotic well known in Aceh) and yet the Acehnese freedom movement (Islamic based) cultivate hash-hish to finance their movements.

Since Planten brought it up, why don’t we ask Planten of how come the sum of all inheritance in Quran is greater than one. Agnostic was calculated that the sum of the parts in the inheritance law given in Quran is 1.125.
