The objective is to defeat the enemy.
What enemy? No-one inside the World Trade Center was an enemy of Islam. They were innocents. None of the Boston marathon runners was an enemy of Islam. What about that boy? How old was he, seven? Was he an enemy of Islam? What these terrorists are doing is DISGUSTING!!

I thank you for making a statement disagreeing with the terrorists. Not many Muslims would say that openly.

You are of course right with those questions of yours. I hope you are asking that after knowing what the al-Qaeda ideology is. The short of it, I presume they would say it is collateral damage.

Back to the subject again. So these so-suicide bombers may not be as simple as you would think they are. To them, it is not suicide at all but death while on duty for the cause of Allah. The cause may be something like defeating the might of the infidels who are waging war against the people of Islam.

And they know as martyrs, they would be rewarded in heaven. Certainly, like you said, “That both men and the women shall get plenty of good friends and perfect companions (Hur) in Paradise” is not enough attraction for them. They could get those presumably on earth. But unending source of beautiful virgins that can offer the most exquisite sexual pleasure is another thing else.

So like I said, we non-Muslims are caught in between and do not know which teaching of Islam is true. Your version or the terrorists?

The bigger question is why the terrorists are actually willing to die for their belief if it is not sufficiently found in the Quran, Hadith or general Islamic teaching and practice?

Polygamy and divorce would certainly certainly dilute the exclusiveness of sex being sacred, gift of God and meant for unity of the couple and procreation. But then I am speaking from a Christian’s perspective.

Augustine3;10785857:
If I’ve understood you correctly you’re implying women will have multiple mates just as the men do. Is that correct?
Yes.
 F_Ferdous, you made a fatal mistake!, according to Islam, woman in the Islamic version of paradise CANNOT have multiple mates, here is the reference:

(English):
“According to the opinion of some scholars, if a woman married two or more men in the world, she will marry her first husband if her other marriage(s) took place as a result of the death of her husband not as a result of divorce; according to the opinion of other scholars, she will marry her last husband. However, she can also marry the one that she likes better. (cf. Alusi; ad-Duhan, the interpretation of the verse 44/54.)”

(Fatwa# 2207):

Interesting, what about about the man who was butchered this week?

Do you think it’s possible that he carried out his plan because of Qur’an 5:33? “The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and his apostle and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement.”

Also, after the man butchered him, he began to explain that they are commanded in surah 9 to carry out such plans. I believe his exact words were, “forced by the Qur’an in At taubah” IE: Surah 9.

One of his reasons for stating surah 9 could have been because of vs 29: Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Apostle, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

Also, surah 9:81-84 criticizes Muslims who do not fight and threatens them that the hell of hell fire is hotter than the hell of the heat of the sun.

So like I said, we non-Muslims are caught in between and do not know which teaching of Islam is true. Your version or the terrorists?

The bigger question is why the terrorists are actually willing to die for their belief if it is not sufficiently found in the Quran, Hadith or general Islamic teaching and practice?
Do not be so naive as to believe that these terrorists are motivated by the Qur’an or the Hadith. They are motivated by the false promises of their Imams. I personally come from a country where such terrorists are bred. I remember once sitting in a mosque for a sermon where the Imam explicitly commanded everyone who cared to listen NOT to learn the meaning of the Qur’an, study the context of its Verses or do any such research but only focus on the pronunciation. Imagine, being told to read the Bible in Hebrew and only taught the correct pronunciation.

All these terrorists, followers of these Imams, are illiterate, even when it comes to speaking their own language, let alone Classical Arabic of 600 AD. They have no access to books, internet, etc. They are orphans raised and trained by the Imams from birth. The Imams take the Verses out of context and then charge these people under them to war. These men under them do not know any better. To them, these Imams are images of gods and they do their will, not the Will of Allah.

P.S. The Al-Qaeda and the Taliban have prosecuted Muslims too, for decades. They follow the Wahabbi school of thought and deem any Muslims not following the Wahabbi philosophy of Islam as disbelievers and kill them. The media just doesn’t show it to you because it doesn’t concern them. Hundreds have so far died in Iran, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan but the media cares little when Muslims kill Muslims. It is when the crime is done against a non-Muslim that the media bats an eye.

I’ll explain the Wahabbi philosophy of Islam in a minute. It’s gonna be long but if you care to know then please wait and I’ll answer. First, I must offer my morning prayer.

Are you saying the Imams manipulate the religion of Islam for the sake of their cause? Are they consciously lying about Islam?

Every religion has good and bad followers, I just don’t remember the last time someone killed someone else for the sake of Jesus 🤷

Assalam walaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. God’s Peace and Blessings be upon you and with you all.

First and foremost, allow me to thank all of you for giving me this chance to speak and explain to you my religion. Now, I understand there are many misunderstandings about Islam and none of it can be blamed upon one single person. The misunderstandings and misconceptions stem from many sources — barbaric terrorists, ignorant media outlets and fear-mongers, etc. I can’t list them all, but a lot of blame has to be taken by the layman Muslim as well for not clarifying these doubts and perhaps the layman non-Muslim for not giving an ordinary Muslim the opportunity to speak out. If we’re to play the blame game, we can go on with this forever. Let us return to the subject: Islam.

What is Islam? Islam, the very word itself derives from the Arabic words “aslama” meaning “he resigned, he surrendered, he submitted,” causative in conjunction with “salima” meaning “he was safe,” and “salam” meaning “peace.” In its entirety, the word means to be safe and in peace having surrendered one’s will to God.

Now, in English we use the suffix “er” to denote the title of a person performing an action, e.g. one who teaches, teacher. In Arabic, a prefix is added instead. The prefix is “mu”. Therefore, one who submits his will to God in peace and safety, i.e. practices the action of Islam, is a Mu’Islam or Muslim.

In order to fit the criteria of a person who can entitled to be a Muslim, one must stand by the Five Pillars of Islam:
  1. Iman or Faith - He/she must have complete faith in the One True God, His Prophets (Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, etc [peace be upon them all]), His Angels (Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Azriel), His Revealed Books (the Torah, the Psalms, the Gospel and the Qur’an), His Will (whatever happens is by the Leave and Authority of God and His Divine Plan [also known as Al-Qadr in Arabic]) and the inevitability of the Day of Judgment (that indeed there shall come a day when we shall all be held accountable for our deeds and we’ll be rewarded or punished as per that what we did while we were alive).
  2. Salat or Prayer - He/she must regularly offer prayers to God seeking His Forgiveness, His Assistance and His Blessings.
  3. Zakat or Charity - He/she must give away 2.5% of his/her annual income for the help of the poor and needy. Any act of goodness that benefits the life of another is also considered charity, e.g. smiling and making others smile, plant a tree to provide shelter and food for humans and animals alike, etc.
  4. Saum or Fasting in the month of Ramadan - He/she must abstain from eating, drinking, and sexual intercourse from dawn through dusk and devote the evening hours to worship God in Salah on the Holy Month of Ramadan. The latter portion is optional though, but abstinence part is compulsory upon all those who are physically able (i.e. not suffering any kind of illness that may make it hazardous for him/her to avoid food and water for long periods of time).
  5. Hajj or Pilgrimage to Mecca - This must be done if one has the physical and financial ability to perform it.
These are the deeds one must do to qualify himself/herself as a Muslim. If these requisites are not met by a person, he/she, regardless of whatever he/she does following whatever verses of the Qur’an or tenet of a Hadith, it won’t be accepted of him or her. And this is where terrorism comes in. The acts of a terrorist goes directly against the Pillar of Zakat and thus nullifies all his good deeds. Zakat or charity is to be established by a believer for the benefit of his/her entire society whether the members of the society be a Muslim or non-Muslim.

Islam is a religion of action meaning that every one of its Pillars have a practical implication upon society and its benefit. I’ll give a brief run-through of this:
  • Belief and Faith in One God teaches us that regardless of who we are, prince or pauper, lawyer or labourer, our God is One and we were all created by Him Only. A rich man was not created by a separate god and a poor was not created by another. We all must submit to only One God and none but Him for there is no other deity but He and, regardless of our status, we are all His slaves created to worship Him and do His Will.
  • Salah or Prayer establishes discipline in one’s life as it also gives him/her a direct connection to converse with God without any intercessor in between. This is a chance at repentance and an opportunity to ask for help. The prayers are all placed in convenient times (dawn, noon, late-afternoon, evening and night) to keep our schedules in check as well as remember God throughout the day, ponder upon the Favors He has bestowed upon us. In order to offer Salah, one must also be dressed appropriately and clean (free of body odor and bad breath) thus keeping us hygienic and presentable at all times till nightfall.
  • The benefits of Zakat (Charity) requires no explanation. If every single person of the state gave away 2.5% of his income to the poor and needy, there would be no more poverty.
  • Saum (fasting in Ramadan) and Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) both have spiritual benefits as abstinence purifies the soul and brings us closer to God.
Now, where does Jihad come in into all of this. Well, “jihad” literally means “to strive in the Cause of Allah”. There are two forms of Jihad - the Greater and the Lesser. The greater Jihad is the spiritual one which is against one’s own ego (nafs). This means, let’s say someone offered me a glass of beer but I’m not permitted to drink alcohol as a Muslim. However, I am tempted to do it, my nafs wants to do it. Yet, I fight against it and say no to the person offering the drink. That is Jihad and the blessings of one who performs this act is equivalent to the one who died a martyr in the Name of God or to protect his nation or family. Other forms of spiritual Jihad would be fight against the ego and abstain from the sins of excessive pride, greed, lust, laziness, gluttony, anger and jealousy by not acting upon them regardless of how much our nafs may want to do so. The reason why the blessings of this form of Jihad is so much is because in this kind of Jihad we are directly fighting Satan and Satan is the one who tempts us to act on our nafs in the first place. And what better way to show off your Faith in God than to fight His greatest enemy, the accursed rebel - Satan?

Next comes the lesser Jihad - the physical one. This is the one that raises so much controversy, the one Jihad that the Western media has so over-exploited and perhaps for good reasons too. This form of Jihad has been taken so much out of context by hypocritical followers of Islam that it’s not even funny anymore. And the funny thing is, God has predicted in the Qur’an that this was to happen centuries ago. In many Verses of the Qur’an God speaks of the Munafiqun (hypocrites). There is even an entire chapter of the Qur’an devoted to them. One of the Signs of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, we’ve been told about, is that the number of hypocritical scholars and Imams will increase drastically making it easier for the arriving False Prophet to propagate his message, the one who Jesus shall then slay and toss unto Hell. He is the Antichrist and be rest assured that he is coming but so is the Messiah.

So, if what the Taliban are doing is not Jihad then what is? Let’s see the first Verse of the Qur’an that speaks of this form of Jihad:

2:190 And fight in the Way of God those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, God does not like the transgressors.

As you can clearly see, this Verse tells the believers to “transgress not the limits” and those who shall transgress shall greatly be disliked by God and what happens to those disliked by God? Right, Hell. So what are the limitations of fighting in the Name of God? First and foremost, as the Verse explicitly tells us:

“And fight in the Way of God THOSE WHO FIGHT YOU”

Until the “enemy” attacks you, YOU CANNOT ATTACK THEM BACK. Unless the “enemy” attacks you, THEY ARE INNOCENT BY DEFINITION, and the Qur’an tells us that for every single innocent person killed by someone else that someone else has to account for it in the Day of Judgment as if he/she has killed every single living being that has ever existed, that exists now and will ever exist - it is as if he/she has killed all living creations of God. What the Taliban and the Al-Qaeda are doing is NOT Jihad and it is not war for the Cause of God! The people who died on 9/11, they were not of “those you fight you”. They were innocents and if you say it was done to weaken the enemy by lowering their resources and the ones who died were collateral damage then I’m sorry it is not fighting in the Way God has told us to fight.

There are rules set up in Islam for war:
  • Kill no innocents, hurt no women or children.
  • Burn not the cattle or crops of the enemy nor plunder their wealth (resources) but only take of the booty after the war has been won.
  • If they stop attacking, STOP.

Many people often bring up this Verse to show Islam is a violent religion:

2:191 And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah (idolatry) is worse than killing. And fight not with them at Al-Masjid-Al-Harâm (the sanctuary at Mecca), unless they (first) fight you there. But if they attack you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.

But many do not realize that it is being grossly taken out of context. “Fight them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out” — who is “them” and where have “they” turned us out of? Read the Verse before this to figure out. This is Verse 2:191. Read Verse 2:190. In fact, let us read Verses 2:190-193

2:190 And fight in the Way of God those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, God likes not the transgressors.

2:191 2:191 And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah (idolatry) is worse than killing. And fight not with them at Al-Masjid-Al-Harâm (the sanctuary at Mecca), unless they (first) fight you there. But if they attack you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.

2:192 But if they stop, then stop! God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

2:193 2:193 And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (idolatry) and (all and every kind of) worship is for God (Alone). But if they stop, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zâlimûn (the criminals and wrong-doers).

So as you can see, the word “they” in Verse 2:192 is addressing “those who fight you” and in fighting them we are told to transgress not the limits" because “God likes not the transgressors”. And “if they stop, then stop”. The soldier murdered in Woolwich was not involved in war anymore. By definition he had stopped and he was a civilian. Also, he was not engaging in Al-Fitnah or idolatry. In fact, most killed by Al-Qaeda and the Taliban are not involved in Al-Fitnah that these Verses are talking about. You know who these Verses are really talking about? The idolaters of Mecca at the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). They were engaging in paganism and they cast out the worshipers of the God of Abraham, i.e. the followers of Muhammad, after 13 years of punishing them. In the end, the Prophet migrated to Medina for protection of his followers and there he gained a huge following because the doctrine of Abrahamic monotheism solved a lot of tribal conflicts in Medina. Abrahamic monotheism prohibits tribalism and teaches us that we are all children of one father (Adam) and the slaves of One God. Also, tenets like Zakat helped the development of the city furthermore. The huge following scared the pagans of Mecca because the pagans of Mecca used to feed off the tribute paid at the altars of the false gods there by the rest of Arabia. Now, these idols were no longer being worshiped and that business was shutting down.

In fear, the Meccans planned to attack Medinah. To avoid the imminent war, however, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) ordered the Disciples to disrupt trades between Mecca and the rest of the world NOT by killing anyone but by simply creating blockades. However, this wasn’t enough and soon the people of Mecca started off to attack Medina. Muhammad, realizing that the innocents of Medina would die simply because they gave him and his followers shelter, asked God what to do then. So God replied,

2:190 And fight in the Way of God those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, God likes not the transgressors.

2:191 2:191 And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out (Mecca).

Using these Verses to justify the killing of innocent non-Muslims would be equivalent to Christians and Jews using the story of Moses ordering the Children of Israel to kill the Canaanites as justification to kill Hindus and other pagan religion followers of today. The circumstances are not the same so the same rule doesn’t apply.

As for Verse 9:29, please read the explanation here:

prophetrejectors.wordpress.com/929-at-tauba-of-quran-doesnt-encourage-muslims-to-terrorism/

And the Verses which are supposedly criticizing those who do not fight in the Cause of God were actually sent when the pagans of Mecca attacked Medina a second time and a group of so-called Muslims who originally intended to go to war and convinced everyone that they will back up the followers of Islam through and through but then on the day they were to leave for battle this group of hypocrites refused to go to war and abandoned the followers claiming it was too hot. This resulted in heavy casualties among the followers because they weren’t ready for this sudden decrease in their numbers. The Verses are 9:81-84 I believe. Lemme explain to you these Verses one by one:

9:81 Those who remained behind rejoiced in their staying [at home] after [the departure of] the Messenger of God and disliked to strive with their wealth and their lives in the cause of God and said, 'Do not go forth in the heat." Say, “The fire of Hell is more intensive in heat” - if they would but understand.

I believe I already explained this above. See, the Verse says, “those who REMAINED behind” meaning the story is in past tense. And what did these people do afterwards? They “rejoiced in their staying [at home]” and they even laughed when they heard of the heavy casualties saying, ‘didn’t we tell you not to go to war today?’. In response, God said,

9:82 So let them laugh a little and [then] weep much [in Hell] as recompense for what they used to earn.

And God warned Muhammad not to let it happen again by allowing such hypocrites to join them in war if they were to fight again,

9:83 If God should return you to a faction of them [after the expedition] and then they ask your permission to go out [to battle], say, “You will not go out with me, ever, and you will never fight with me an enemy. Indeed, you were satisfied with sitting [at home] the first time, so sit [now] with those who stay behind.”

And if these hypocrites died, the very hypocrites who were responsible for the death of so many followers, for then God commanded Muhammad,

9:84 And do not pray [the funeral prayer, O Muhammad], over any of them who has died - ever - or stand at his grave. Indeed, they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger and died while they were defiantly disobedient.

And these hypocrites were extremely rich and prosperous when alive but they never gave Zakat, so God spoke of them,

9:85 And let not their wealth and their children impress you. God only intends to punish them through them in this world and that their souls should depart [at death] while they are disbelievers.

9:86 And when a chapter was revealed [enjoining them] to believe in God and to fight with His Messenger, those of wealth among them asked your permission [to stay back] and said, “Leave us to be with them who sit [at home].”

9:87 They were satisfied to be with those who stay behind, and their hearts were sealed over, so they do not understand.

As you can see, this entire story is in past tense and warns us that if our children, families, friends, or even our nation or people of our religion are being threatened and we are directly being attacked then we should fight back to protect our rites but at the same time we should be careful of hypocrites amid ourselves and if they are more successful than us and if they laugh at our sufferings when we’re at war then we are told to remember that fighting in the Cause of God shall grant us Paradise while they, the hypocrites, shall go to Hell when they die. Their wealth and success is only a temporary source of pleasure.

So, in summary we have:
  • Fighting in the Name of God is only permissible against someone who is threatening to take a Muslim’s life or that of the Muslim’s friends or family, threatening to seize the Muslim’s property, disrupting justice (for to establish justice in the land is a Cause of God) or forcefully disallowing a Muslim from worshiping God while obliging him to worship false-gods (as did the pagans of Mecca). This is one of the tenets of physical Jihad.
  • And it is not permissible that a Muslim attacks first without prompt or alarm as God has declared: “fight those who fight you”. The one being fought against must also be given the chance to stop and repent for his wrong-doings and should he do so then God says: “But if they stop, then stop! God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
  • Oppression and injustice are two of the utmost reprehensible evils that stand against the Cause of God and a Muslim is asked to stand in Jihad against any such evil as narrated by Abu Saeed al-Khudri (may God be pleased with him) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say, “Whoever of you sees an evil must then change it with his hand. If he is not able to do so, then [he must change it ] with his tongue. And if he is not able to do so, then [he must change it] with his heart. And that is the slightest [effect of] faith.” (Sahih Al-Muslim, Hadith No. 34)
  • Physical Jihad in God’s Cause (against oppression and injustice) is given quite a great importance in Islam and is one of its pillar (on which it stands). By Jihad, Islam is established, God’s Word is made superior and His Way of Life is propagated. By abandoning Jihad (may God protect us from that), Islam is destroyed and the Muslims fall into an inferior position; their honor is lost, their lands are stolen, their rule and authority vanish, and justice becomes an afterthought. Jihad is an obligatory duty in Islam on every Muslim, and he who tries to escape from this duty, or does not in his innermost heart wish to fulfill this duty, dies with one of the qualities of a hypocrite.
  • Narrated Abu Dawud that Apostle of God (peace be upon him) once said: “The best Jihad is the word of Justice in front of the oppressive Sultan (ruler).” [Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah]
  • Narrated ‘Abdullâh bin Mas‘ûd (may God be pleased with him): I asked God’s Messenger (peace be upon him) “O God’s Messenger! What is the best deed?” He replied, “To offer the Salât (prayers) at their fixed stated times.” I asked, “What is next in goodness?” He replied, “To be good and dutiful to your parents.” I further asked, “What is next in goodness?” He replied, “To participate in Jihad in God’s Cause (establishing peace, equality and justice).” I did not ask God’s Messenger (peace be upon him) anymore and if I had asked him more, he would have told me more. (Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol.4, Hadîth No.41)
So now ask yourselves this, are the Al-Qaeda establishing peace and justice? Are the Taliban establishing peace and justice? Did the Woolwich murderer establish peace and justice? Does it sound like they did what they did to promote the Cause of God through the Way prescribed of God? Think it through and find out the answers for yourselves.

I look forward to all of your responses.

And with this I bid you farewell for now, because I must sleep. Been awake all night writing this so that at least one person, one non-Muslim may have a better understanding of Islam. Insha’Allah, I hope my efforts do not go to waste.

May God bless you all and grant you peace.

Salam.

🙂

F_Ferdous, discussing Islamic topics is allowed here but preaching Islam is not…
I wasn’t preaching. It was necessary to bring up the tenets of Islam to show why terrorism is not permissible in Islam. I tried to keep it as short as possible though.

I can give you a longer reply later as I am on my phone out of town right now, but surah 9:29 does not specify that it’s only for those in an Islamic state. Rather, it’s quite clear that it is for non muslims and it’s a future event for Muslims to impose on others.

Look at the word “until” Fight them until they pay a tax and feel subdued.

Also, you never explained why Christians and Jews are the worst of creatures, or why Muhammad cursed us on his death bed in Aisha’s lap.

Now, again you can twist the verses in a way that makes Islam peaceful but when Muhammad says, “I have been commanded to fight until they say there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger” one must take that at face value. I know that Islam wants to fit in more and say that Muhammad didn’t really mean it like that. But let’s face it, he said it and can’t unsay it, Muslims in Muslim countries believe it and if you want to whitewash it so it sounds better to followers of the most peaceful man who ever walked this Earth (Jesus) then are you really doing what Allah commanded? Because Muslims in Muslim countries disagree with you.
