There has been talk…again… that muslims believe that Abraham was a muslim.
This also brings up another point, how did islam exist before muhammad made it up?
Please explain this…

The Qur’an states that Islam –** the complete submission of man before his one and only Unique Creator **– is the one and only faith and way of life consistently revealed by God to humankind from the very beginning. Noah, Solomon, David, Abraham, Moses, Isaac and Jesus (pbut) – prophets who appeared at different times and places – all propagated the same faith and conveyed the same message of Tawheed (Oneness of God), Risaalat (Prophethood) and Aakhirah (the Hereafter). These prophets of God were not founders of different religions to be named after them. They were each reiterating the message and faith of their predecessors.

However, Muhammad (pbuh) was the last Prophet of God. God revived through him the same genuine faith which had been conveyed by all His Prophets. This original message was earlier corrupted and split into various religions by people of different ages, who indulged in interpolations and admixture. These alien elements were eliminated by God, and Islam – in its pure and original form – was transmitted to humankind through Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Since there was to be no messenger after Muhammad (pbuh), the Book revealed to him (i.e. the Glorious Qur’an) was preserved word for word so that it should be a source of guidance for all times.

Thus the religion of all the prophets was ‘total submission to God’s will’ and one word for that in the Arabic language is ‘Islam’

Hahaha. Good luck with this one, dolphinlove. I’ve brought this up with Muslim posters here in the past, and what I got were some quotes from Islamic writings that were basically full of declarative sentences (“Isa was a Muslim”, “Ibrahim was Muslim”, etc), with nothing at all that could be pointed to as “proof”.

That’s the strange thing about Islam that I haven’t found in either of the other great religions of the world: Islam is retroactive, in that it takes past prophets and great believers of other religions and claims them for itself. Christianity, while it claims continuity with Judaism in the sense that Jesus Christ was a Jew and the early Christians were, in effect, heretical Jews, does not describe itself as being Jewish nor the Jewish prophets and writers as being Christians. In fact our own scripture tells us that it was not until their time in Antioch that the term “Christian” was ever used to describe the followers of Christ. So we have no problem accepting literal history, and not twisting the past to fit the future. Abraham was not a Christian. Moses was not a Christian. But of course, Abraham and Moses (and Jesus, and Mary, and Joseph, etc) are all Muslims, because without that imagined link to the past, Islam finds itself without any strong link to the past as Christianity can rightfully claim. It is an invention of Islam, needed to make its claims of its own continuity seem correct in the eyes of its practioners and those whom they wish to entice to abandon the true faith.

This is what muslims believe, but nowhere in the bible does it state that islam existed.
Try and prove it without quran and hadiths, as i do not believe in those sources at all.
Abraham, nor ANY of the prophets EVER said they are muslim. No mention of it at all.
Yet, we can prove they are Jews!

I don’t think you’ll get past the koran 3:67 with them which states…

“Abraham was not a Jew nor a Christian, but he was (an) upright (man), a Muslim (submission to God’s will), and he was not one of the polytheists”

Also, i submit myself to God, does this make me a muslim? Hell no, i was baptised and raised a Catholic, as Jesus was BAPTISED as well to be a JEW, how can he be a muslim?

That everyone is completely dependent upon and lives their life from and to the One is written on creation and in the human soul. All who recognized this truth and lived from it are, in some sense, followers of Allah.

The role of the prophets (pbut) is to remind us of and recall us to this truth: calling us back to the revelation of God, whose aya are written in creation and is thus, also, the truth found in every person.

God is the One, and the truth of every one, no matter time or place, is Islam.

Here is what wiki has to say about it.
Islam (Arabic: الإسلام; al-’islām (help·info); pronounced ʔislæːm][note 1]) is a monotheistic, Abrahamic religion originating with the teachings of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, a 7th century Arab religious and political figure.
The word Islam means “submission”, or the total surrender of oneself to God (Arabic: الله‎, Allāh).[1] An adherent of Islam is known as a Muslim, meaning “one who submits [to God]”.[2][3]
The word Muslim is the participle of the same verb of which Islām is the infinitive. There are between 1 billion and 1.8 billion Muslims, making Islam the second-largest religion in the world, after Christianity.[4]
Muslims believe that God revealed the Qur’an to Muhammad, God’s final prophet, through the angel Gabriel, and regard the Qur’an and the Sunnah (words and deeds of Muhammad) as the fundamental sources of Islam.[5]
They do not regard Muhammad as the founder of a new religion, but as the restorer of the original monotheistic faith of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and other prophets. Islamic tradition holds that Jews and Christians distorted the revelations God gave to these prophets by either altering the text, introducing a false interpretation, or both.[6]
And this is what the musims believe and this is what they’ll stick to.

Did nobody read this post?

The question was answered and everyone went off on another tangent. The answer is quite simple, but nobody responded.

Why?

yes, did you not see my reply dear? or do you choose to ignore me?
Jesus, for example, and what a great example, was BAPTISED a JEW, how could he be 2 different religions?

Also, i submit myself to God, does this make me a muslim? Hell no, i was baptised and raised a Catholic, as Jesus was BAPTISED as well to be a JEW, how can he be a muslim?
You can’t say you are submitting yourself to God if you are denying his Messengers and his Scriptures.

You’ve used a lot of words but have proven nothing!

You’ve said this a few times but it’s not true.

How am i denying him by following his true religion? I follow his REAL prophets and his REAL Son, who by the way gave his life for us, which is what islam totally denies… which makes it a false religion, therefore muhammad a false prophet…🙂
