The CC affirms that Muslims worship the same god that Jews and Christians worship.

Greetings and peace be with you Kalt;

The same God hears all our prayers, despite all our differences, Abraham and Moses are central to all three religions, but where is God amongst all this apparent conflict?

It is said in Judaism and Christianity, that God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son in the region of Mount Moriah. It is also said that God commanded Solomon to build the Temple Mount on Mount Moriah, this is a huge structure, a small part of it is what we know as the Wailing Wall, or Western Wall. On top of the Temple Mount, God commanded Solomon to build a Temple, that will house ‘The Ark of the Covenant’ better known for the Ten Commandments. Jesus prayed on the Temple Mount, and when he healed people he sent them to the Temple to give thanks.

The Temple was destroyed and rebuilt twice, and the Two Mosques were built on top of the Temple Mount, were the Temple once stood. The Dome is said to be the place where the prophet pbuh, ascended up to heaven on his winged horse.

Why would God link all these things together?

Every blessing

The Muslim concept of God is very different. Christians believe in a omnipotent trinitarian God, Muslims believe in a limited aeon.

Man may look on God through many different ways, but the same God hears all our prayers, we are all created by the same God. We have a duty of care to look after all God’s creation, and that must mean careing for each other, despite all our differences.

God or the Devil. The Holy Bible is very clear on this.

1 John 2:22 Who is the Liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Messiah. Such a man is the Antichrist—he denies the Father (God) and the Son (Jesus). Luke 16:16 The Law and the Prophets were until John the Baptist.

And Islam denies the deity of Jesus, and denies that Jesus’ father is God and denies that God had sent His Son to die on the cross for mankind. Additionally, the Bible declares that the last of the prophets was John the Baptist.

Let’s not fool ourselves. No one who stands on the side of the Devil will ever have a place in the Kingdom of God. That’s how FAR many really are and the sad thing is they don’t even know it or simply refuse to see it as so.

(Quran 29:46) affirms that they are the same:

*YUSUFALI: And dispute ye not with the People of the Book, except with means better (than mere disputation), unless it be with those of them who inflict wrong (and injury): but say, “We believe in the revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you; Our Allah and your Allah is one; and it is to Him we bow (in Islam).”
PICKTHAL: And argue not with the People of the Scripture unless it be in (a way) that is better, save with such of them as do wrong; and say: We believe in that which hath been revealed unto us and revealed unto you; our Allah and your Allah is One, and unto Him we surrender.
SHAKIR: And do not dispute with the followers of the Book except by what is best, except those of them who act unjustly, and say: We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you, and our Allah and your Allah is One, and to Him do we submit.

Either there is Christianity or there is no Christianity at all.

Christianity is based on the final sacrifice, the Crucification. God wanted it to take place as it was foretold. Book of Isaiah is very clear about it. The very reason Jesus came on the earth to fulfil that prophesy.

On the other hand Allah denies this. According to allah’s book revealed to mohammed. This is considered as a hoax, a magic trick.

According to Planten his version is different from the very quran he reads.

For me, I dont believe that God and Allah are same. Just a trick played by satan to get more souls.

No. But I won’t agree either that Jews and Christians worship the same god. The concepts are too different to be the same. The difference between claiming another religion’s view of the one and only God is completely or partially wrong and saying that religion worships a different god is marginal.

What we know about Allah comes from the Koran. The Koran, ultimately, comes from the messenger and the prophet of Islam; Muhammad. He was visited by Gabriel. This is what happened in the range of 600 years after the resurrection. This is what Islam claims.
If its true, than it is not the God of Abraham. If its true, then its not the God of the New Testament because God in the New Testament is progressive revelation. What we know about God from the Old Testament is not the complete story. Only by accepting the New Testament or the Church (Catholics) do we believe this additonal revelation. Jews do not accept our view of God. They do not believe they need additonal revelation.
600 years after Christ comes a new prophet and messenger. If you believe that he did not lie about this, then you should be a Muslim. If you believe this did not happen; why would you believe anything Muhammad says about Allah? He either told the truth or he did not. Either he did tell us about Allah or he did not. If he did lie or was deceived, it does not seem like we should care what he said about Allah.

Judaism also denies the deity of Jesus.

Christians don’t believe the Muhammed is a prophet, but we do believe that they worship the same God, not matter how much they twisted the story.

The truth is the truth wherever it’s found. Do you agree that what truth that Islam teaches about God is the truth?

I believe that Christians, Jews and Muslims worship the same God. However the Jews follow only part of God’s revelation, while Muslims follow a totally phony revelation.

The comments that Muslims do not recognize Jesus as Messiah and the Son of God can also be said of the Jews, yet I don’t think that we could deny that the Jews worship the same God as us. The Muslims worship the same God but have been decieved by Satan’s lie through a false prophet so it will do them no good.

What about Judaism? They also don’t believe that Jesus is God. Does what they do believe about God count for anything? Does what truth the Muslims believe about God count for anything? If individual Muslims worship God but believe false things because this is what they were taught, can that worship really be valueless?

That which is different is not the same. The exception stated is we believe the Old Testament to be truth as revealed at that time but it is truth. Nothing in the Old Testament is false albeit incomplete. There is a huge difference. 600 years later an angel appears to Muhammad and reveals an additional truth to correct the other two. 600 years later I do not believe truth was revealed. Muhammads message cannot be divorced from the messenger.

Give some examples or I cannot answer the question. The other problem is taking one passage from the Koran as an example. If they say God is merciful, that attribute is possibly incomplete or even false depending upon how it is elaborated on or explained in the rest of the Koran. For example, God is merciful but what that mercy means is elaborated on in other passages. So we could be assigning our defintion of mercy when in fact it does not mesh with the rest of the Koran. To say they worship the same God because they claim to is not sufficient. The content of the claim must be evaluated to see. Lets say that I write a book and I say that God is nice. Two books later I describe that nice as being aborting babies to save money. Its a radical example but would you still describe my God as nice because I said he was?

We believe that the truth in the Old Testament is truth albeit incomplete. God did not give everything at one time. Every word is inspired and God breathed as Timothy indicates. We do not hold that 600 years later God breathed the Koran or that Gabriel spoke to Muhammad. I There is a substantial difference between the two based upon that. One is incomplete. The other is false.

Do you feel the same about the Reformation? The breakaway churches believe that the CC corrupted the religion and that they have restored it to the truth. The Muslims believe the same thing, that they have corrected the errors that crept into the faith through the centuries.

And likewise, Jews don’t beleive that centuries later, God breahted the NT or that Jesus is the Messiah.

If they are indeed doing that, then they have something valid to say based upon the fact that the New Testament and Old Testament are insufficient descriptions of God and that Gabriel appeared to Muhammad. It is a different message. .

The Jew does not believe that the Christian or the Muslim text is inspired. We do believe their Old Testament text is inspired.

So how is it that you believe that Jews and Christians worship the same God.

The Chrisitans have written a new text, just as the Muslims have. The Jews accept neither of these texts as inspired.

Does anyone know how the Muslims view the OT and NT?

To be clear, I don’t accept the Koran as scripture. I think Muhammed was a nut, to be frank, and misinformed. His complaint against Christianity and Judaism was formed out of ignorance. However, I don’t deny that Muslims worship the God of Abraham.

Many of the Christian complaints against the doctrines of the CC today are formed out of ignorance, too. This doesn’t mean that the Christian churches that teach false doctrines aren’t worshiping the same god.

I found this on a website after a very brief search. It is not authoritative, I’m sure, but it matches what I’ve heard before.

"Actually, Islam neither merely simplifies Christianity nor merely adds to it, but reinterprets it—somewhat as Christianity does to Judaism. As the Christian interpretation of the Old Testament is not the same as the Jewish one, the Moslem interpretation of the New Testament is not the same as the Christian one; the Koran authoritatively interprets the New Testament as the New interprets the Old. "

I would like to hear from Muslims on the boards on the topic.
