It’s a huge building, they cater to 6 weeks up until 3 year olds. What words can I use to ask for this list? She’ll probably say no but i’m guessing I should ask for a list of names for all the employees that work there in case something happens?

Yes she may have lied. I can only keep him there now because his daily caregivers are good especially the one he’s been with since he was 4 months old. When he sees her he immediately opens his arms with to her with a smile.

I would actually ask the state or county if they have that information. Actually, I’d ask for every bit of information from the inspection that is available to the public. I’d really want to know if there were any differences between what this outfit told inspectors and what they were telling me or what I could see with my own eyes.

Keep in mind that even our bishops have been caught in lies of omission, extremely serious ones, in order to spare their diocese embarrassment or avoid losing a priest they don’t want to lose. This is a very common and strong temptation for people in authority to commit. It is also common among people who were severely disciplined as a child every time they were caught making a mistake. That’s not an excuse, but it is a reason to keep your eyes open and realize that even some people who have a sterling character in other ways will be tempted to withhold information every chance they get, whether the information is something others have a right to know or not.

I asked her if she was CPR certified and she said yes (over the phone). Today I found out her certification expires at the end of the month and she is scheduled to take the full class in March. That’s good right? The other teacher is also certified. Please keep our family in your prayers, that I may stay home with him instead of daycare. Gods will. Thank you

It is a refresher and it is pretty common for people to wait to renew until they have to do it. First aid for children doesn’t change that much. I wouldn’t be paranoid about this, but I think the place has earned a bit of scepticism from you, that’s all.

It can be very hard to decide when or if both parents ought to be working outside the home. Promise yourself as you go through parenthood to make the best decision you know how to make and then forgive yourself if (or I should say when) you regret some decision or other. It happens, and that goes for all parenting decisions. If you keep your children in bubble wrap, they suffocate, so you can’t keep from taking any chances. Sometimes, you’ll wish you had made a different decision. Your child needs you to have a merciful heart towards mistakes and learning, and that starts with you giving that to yourself.

If you get through parenthood and find out that you have never made a decision that you regret later, please keep that information to yourself. The rest of us may take after you with a pitchfork if we ever hear you say it. 😉

thank you for your encouraging words ❤️ i appreciate and needed to hear it.:pray:t2:

Nope…I’d be gone. I would want to independently look them up too. Not at all unreasonable.

From the daycare, with the child. I would not entrust my baby to anyone who won’t minimally tell me who they are.

I didn’t even let my teenager go with people unless I knew their first and last names and phone numbers.

The teacher has a long Greek name and yesterday she told me she couldn’t pronounce it as one reason for not telling me and then menntioned she had to check policy.
My bull@#$% detector is on overload right now. Are you catching how the excuses and narratives keep changing?
I’m such an easy going person but I had a witch face from all the times she kept saying how no one ever asked her that before.
"Well, there’s a first time for everything. Could you pass me a pen? Go ahead and spell her name for me . . . "

To be crystal clear, she should be the one feeling awkward. Not you.

My other thought is that your state agency overseeing daycare facilities may have more insight as to whether this policy is even legal, as well as the names of the owner and employees. (Are you in NYS? Or am I thinking of someone else? Child Care Regulations and Policies | Division of Child Care Services | OCFS)

Although these agencies are usually understaffed and underfunded, the “squeaky-wheel parent” definitely gets the grease.

Years ago when I was shopping for daycare, I got told a number of lies that were quickly cleared up with a call to the health department. (“No, we can’t accept kids part time. That’s not legal,” and, “The health department won’t allow cloth diapers here.”) What’s even better is that the woman at the health department wanted to know the names of the facilities making these claims!

The Director kept quietly insisting (patronizingly)no one ever asked her that which was driving me insane. Finally she said she saw my point of view. (probably to get rid of me)
Yeah, that never works very well with me. “There must be something wrong with YOU, because YOU are the ONLY person who ever asked me for that information.” Don’t be intimidated by that attitude. I’d say maybe I was the only person in a thousand who was smart enough to know to ask, so cough up the info. I’d answer something like that. If somebody’s going to get smarmy with me, they’re getting it right back. In this case, the management just doesn’t sound very professional.

I’m in Nyc. If you can share information I’d appreciate it. thank you

Now that I can’t remember her name I feel stupid. I called the state department to find out what the rules are on giving out names but it went into voice mail.
So now I feel I must know this woman’s last name (my husband told me to drop it, he was comfortable with the earlier conversation) and here I am calling the State Department!
I’m not sure if I’m getting paranoid at this point.

Just ask the school to give you their list of faculty and staff, with contact information deleted to protect privacy. Everybody has one.

That’s good right? The other teacher is also certified.
Yes

I don’t know if I want to go down this wormhole, but…all 3 of our kids are daycare kids and they loved it.
Our state does not required a licence for daycare staff, only a background check. The director has to have state certification.
In NY? That’s scary. At our daycare both “providers” licenses hang in the entryway.

Very strange. How would knowing the teacher’s last name cause any problems?

Ok, I’m officially something because I just called the school again and very calmly (thank you BlackForest) said to give me the spelling of the teachers name. She sounded so happy to give it to me it’s like we never saw each other this morning.
I’m going to leave it at this (what do I do with this lady’s last name now that i have it… i can google )
but this has stolen my peace all day. Can I be calm about this place now, I feel like I’m not thinking clearly.
thank you all

I’m with you on that one. I never knew the last names of my son’s preK school teachers, I vetted and trusted the franchised daycare he attended. Knowing Miss Janette’s last name never even occurred to me!
