God Bless you all for your comfort and prayers. I will pass them on to family and friends. To all of you who lost a love one or friends, I pray for you. It hurts terribly, but we must remember that it is God’s Will…and their selfless sacrafices are what drives our engine of freedom, liberty, an democracy. I also pray for all of our friends and loved ones still in harms way. I have countless friends still in either Afghanistan and Iraq. That is the only down side from graduating from a Military College. I have shed my tears…now it is time to be strong and move on. I am planning on starting a fund raiser at The Citadel in Dan’s memory. Before I switched to the USAF, was in the Marine Corps Reserve with Dan. There is one particular “jodie” that comes to mind when I used to do formation runs with Dan…it is as follows:
(THere is a beat to this jodie, if you don’t know it, it probably won’t flow well…but oh well, the words are great)
Mama told Johnny not to go down town,
Marine Corps recruiter been hanging around,
Johnny went down town anyway,
to see what the recruiter had to say,
recruiter asked Johnny what he wanted to be,
Johnny said I want to join the infantry,
he caught a plane out to Vietnam,
There Johnny fought the Vietcong,
He killed a hundred men with his rifle and blade,
Only God knows how many lives he saved,
Now Johnny was bad and he was brave,
Johnny jumped on a hand grenade,
He saved the lives of the men he led,
But now poor Johnny he was dead,
Before he died this is what he said,
To tell his mother when he was dead,
Momma, momma don’t you cry,
The Marine Corps Motta is Semper Fi.
