"If you are able, save for them a place inside of you and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go.
Code:
Be not ashamed to say you loved them, though you may or may not have always. Take what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own.

And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind."

Peacemonger:
May your friend and all those who have died in this tragic war rest in peace.
It’s not charitable, but the terrorists who have died in this war don’t deserve to rest in peace. May the heroes who have died protecting our freedom rest in peace and may God forgive those who have not given them their full support.

Thank you, and may God bless you, lt. Malcomb, for your service and sacrifice on behalf of a grateful nation.

As you go before us, please intercede on our behalf.

Through the mercy of God, may your soul rest in eternal peace.

:gopray:

Song of Farewell
Come to his aid, O saints of God; Come meet him angels of the Lord.

Receive his soul, O holy ones; Present him now to God, Most High.

May Christ who called you take you home, And angels lead you to paradise.

Receive his soul, O holy ones; Present him now to God, Most High.

Give him eternal rest, O God. May light unending shine on him.

Receive his soul, O holy ones; Present him now to God, Most High.

I’m sorry for your (and our country’s loss). God bless you and his family at this time of need.

I lost a friend about 8 months back in Iraq. It didn’t quite sink in that my friend was dead until I saw his mother, someone that I have know forever and has fed me a thousand times, crying and demanding that she be able to see her son. It was a closed casket funeral because he was burned head to toe.

It was very hard to watch.

I also had a friend come back that was in the same unit and was there when our friend died. He has yet to talk about the war since he has returned.

After the funeral I had the chance to talk to his mother for about an hour. I appreciate the opinion that we need to support our troops over in Iraq, we most certainly do… but, his mother feels that the best way to do that is to work to bring the rest of the men home as quickly as possible. She is not dishonoring her son by thinking that we were wrong to go to war and she is not dishonoring her son by fighting to bring the troops back home.

I am sorry for your loss, every time I go back home I feel the loss the most. My friends and I have started a tradition that when we go out to the bar we buy a round of shots and an extra one for those friends that are no longer with us… when I see the full shot after we have taken ours, I think that is when I am the saddest.

I am sorry for your loss. I will also pray for him and you.

For those who don’t know, yesterday was the birthday of the Marine Corps: 229 years of being on the front lines, protecting us.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.

God Bless you Dan…we love and we will never forget.
dumspirospero,

I am so sorry. The cost is so high. May God eternally bless those whose lives have been joined to His in faith, hope and sacrificial love.

Peace and prayers,
Joanna

I’m sorry dum:(, I’ve said a Chaplet of Comfort (prayer for the deceased) for your friend and our dead troops. God Bless.

Prayers are on the way. May god comfort you, his family and all who grieve because of Dan’s sacrifice and the sacrifices made by all our veterans.

I will dedicate my next mass to him – and to a friend of mine who died in my sight at Cam Lo Mounjtain in '69.

**FIFTEEN YARDS

**

The jungle’s green, the scars are healed
Where John O’Reilly lay
Alone upon a stricken field
We were sixteen miles away

For half an hour his line held firm
Then bowed and began to sway
But Alpha Company’s coming hard
Just seven miles away

To give them time to form again
He alone held all at bay
But never reached the second line
And we were half a mile away

Half unconscious, half awake
Between the lines he lay
We scrambled up the steep hillside
A quarter mile away

His hand opened, closed, relaxed again
As his spirit passed away
I saw him go from where I crouched
Just fifteen yards away

His son’s a man now, we met last week
But I could never say
I watched your father as he died
Just fifteen yards away

The day will come when I will pay
The debt we all must pay
May John O’Reilly watch for me
From fifteen yards away

God Bless you all for your comfort and prayers. I will pass them on to family and friends. To all of you who lost a love one or friends, I pray for you. It hurts terribly, but we must remember that it is God’s Will…and their selfless sacrafices are what drives our engine of freedom, liberty, an democracy. I also pray for all of our friends and loved ones still in harms way. I have countless friends still in either Afghanistan and Iraq. That is the only down side from graduating from a Military College. I have shed my tears…now it is time to be strong and move on. I am planning on starting a fund raiser at The Citadel in Dan’s memory. Before I switched to the USAF, was in the Marine Corps Reserve with Dan. There is one particular “jodie” that comes to mind when I used to do formation runs with Dan…it is as follows:

(THere is a beat to this jodie, if you don’t know it, it probably won’t flow well…but oh well, the words are great)

Mama told Johnny not to go down town,
Marine Corps recruiter been hanging around,
Johnny went down town anyway,
to see what the recruiter had to say,
recruiter asked Johnny what he wanted to be,
Johnny said I want to join the infantry,
he caught a plane out to Vietnam,
There Johnny fought the Vietcong,
He killed a hundred men with his rifle and blade,
Only God knows how many lives he saved,
Now Johnny was bad and he was brave,
Johnny jumped on a hand grenade,
He saved the lives of the men he led,
But now poor Johnny he was dead,
Before he died this is what he said,
To tell his mother when he was dead,
Momma, momma don’t you cry,
The Marine Corps Motta is Semper Fi.

May he rest in peace and may God ever be with him in heaven.

His work here is done but ours will live on to keep the memories of heros like this alive and to keep standing for what he stood for - life and liberty.

His loss is our gain - we are eternally grateful - and now we know that we must all ultimately lose ourselves for the gain of others.

I pray that we can approach such heroism, but mostly, I pray for your friend and his family at this tragic time.

I will keep your friend and his family and friends in my prayers He was brave, and must never forget the sacrifice of so many so that we can be free.

Dum,

I a so sorry for your loss. I am keeping all those whom hae made the ultimate sacrifice for OUR freedom in my prayers, now and always.

Peace be with you at this difficult time.
