So many horrific things happening, such a dark time in the church. I pray for the pope constantly. Last night I had a dream that people all over the US are going to start picketing at Catholic mass and calling us names when we enter the church. I know its just a dream but it does make you think where will this all go!? Will we stand united or will many fall away?!

I recently saw a story about a priest being punched during mass by a man who called him a pedophile. No, I do not think picketing is outside the realm of possibility.
Will we stand united or will many fall away?!
Both.

Many will remain faithful, and many will fall away. That is the nature of these things, and seems to be the general pattern. The remaining Church will be strong, albeit smaller.

I’ve been to events where people were picketing outside and calling me names before. It doesn’t bother me. In the USA it’s called freedom of speech.

A couple hundred years ago, Catholics in USA and Ireland got physically attacked. In USA, many Catholic churches were smashed up and burned. There is also a historic church an hour or so away where the neighbors called the police because the priest led a Eucharistic procession outside and the local non-Catholics got scared and thought it was some sort of voodoo ritual.

From what I have seen, when people start telling Catholics they cannot attend Catholic church, an awful lot of Catholics suddenly get very interested in going because they get mad at being told what to do. It’s when it’s perfectly okay to attend and there are four or five convenient Masses that everybody falls off the bandwagon and goes and does something else.

Yeah, things may be bad, but don’t let it shake your faith. Let it strengthen you faith!

a dream is just a dream and likely fuelled by the media circus you got going on in USA

but hey welcome to my world of running the anticatholic gauntlet to get to mass. you get used to it and start to see what the three ring circus of the media is really whipping up

I think standing United and strong in Our faith. After all we are soldiers of Christ to the end.

I think we’re heading down that path.

I’ve already seen articles questioning us faithful Catholics, one with the headline, “Catholics, Why Are You Staying?”

The author goes on the chastise the Church, but Catholics who still belong and are attending Mass each week.

The persecution of priests in the USA, has already begun.

The persecution of Catholics who remain faithful to the Church, is on course and I’m fearful of what we’ll see at Masses across the nation in the very near future.

If you think the sexual abuse scandal was bad, imagine what’s going on inside families and other institutions.
