My faith is better than your faith

Nobody is casually dismissing the sacrifice of people who have died for their faith. I’m sure all are realizing their just reward with God. However this really doesn’t address the issue.
Oh, I think this is exactly what it does. You are saying that those people could have forsaken their belief in God’ s revelation of HImself, and embrace whatever the persecutors wanted them to believe, because it doesn’t really matter anyway. If they want to get to heaven, they will get there, even if they publicly deny what they embraced in the beginning.🤷

You are missing the point. All Christians believe this, however many do not necessarily believe the CC is the ONE Church. To many, the Church is simply the fellowship of all believers in Christ, not just Catholics.
No, they don’t mikew. If you just search the threads on Peter the Rock, you can easily see that most Protestants reject that one.

Furthermore, the characterization of “the Church is simply the fellowship of all believers” reveals an ignorance of Scripture, as well as Apostolic Teaching.

The five solas and OSAS are heresies.
While I don’t agree with them, they are truths to other Christians and much of what we practice are heresies to them.

And the “My faith is better than your faith” train keeps on chugging.

I think you just answered your own OP here. According to Apostolic Teaching, The faith of Christ is identical all over the world. therefore, if some people’s is not identical, then they have departed from what Christ taught.
Ah, what is the faith of Christ? Many claim to have it and do have it. Who’s to say the CC hasn’t departed from what Christ taught? Now, I don’t believe that, but many non-Catholic Christians do. Maybe all Christians have the faith of Christ, there just is some difference in interpretation of some his messages.

mikew, Catholocism is not a ‘brand of worship’ but Christ’s revelaiton of Himself to mankind. Yes, we can know for sure, because God has revealed it to us. If you wish to reject that for yourself, it is your perogative, and if you wish to believe that these other man-made “brands of worship” that appeared 1500 years later, that is also your perogative. It is possible for every man to reject God’s revelation and “do what he thinks is right in his own eyes”.

I was one of those Catholics who felt spiritually dead before I left. I found that God was not missing, it was I that had wandered. God reaches out to people whereever they are, and leads each one to Himself. It is for this reason we know that we are all to be in unity, because He has One Body, and we are all to be united in it, and in Him. To the extent we are not, we fall short of His plan for us.
OK, “brand of worship” is bad way of putting it. Each “slice” of Christianity makes the claim that God has revealed himself to them, and I’m not in a position to argue against that. Each claim the Holy Spirit is leading them.

I believe in the Christianity that the Catholic Church exhibits and practices. However, I will not condemn the Christian worship that other churches practice. IMO, neither should anybody else.

according to you…😉

I am not indifferent that is what “you” believe.
Example: If you believe every single religion leads to God, that means there is no ONE TRUTH and that would be calling Christ a liar.

I’m puzzled why so many folks are against this.
I think it is not ecumenism itself to which many people are opposed, but the “spirit of vatican 2”, which produced the relativism that you have espoused. That so-called ecumenism would have us abandon the fundamentals of our faith just to “make nice” with our separated brethren. This approach to unity is not Apostolic Teaching.

Relativism. It is “Pilates Point”. What is truth?

With the answer that we cannot really know what it is!

Is that the company you wish to keep?
I find truth in the Catholic Church, as do you; this is why I’m still Catholic. I can’t speak for the Christian who finds truth in the Methodist Church down the street. I can’t speak for him, nor will I condemn his choice. I sometimes fail in that regard, but that is my own weakness.

They violate the truth as handed down by the Apostles. There is no such thing as a plural truth.

Fine. So be it. The CC has the fullness of the TRUTH. Everyone else lacks that fullness to certain degrees. So what?

The CC teaches it has the fullness of the truth. That is nothing to be ashamed about.

Who say it doesn’t matter? They died because of their sincere belief in God, a belief they didn’t deny. You lost me on that one.

And casting judgment is wrong. Your turn.
How did I judge a heart and soul? I didn’t. Back at ya.

Countless people don’t understand that do not judge command. COUNTLESS. There is a such thing as right and wrong. Christ did not do away with that.

I suppose that makes me a member of the Protestant Defense Forces (PDF), even though I’m a Catholic. 😉
A person is not a Catholic just because they call themselves one. A person is Catholic if one embraces the Teachings of Christ through the Apostles. This you have clearly not done.🤷

I’m starting to have my doubts with him…

I’ve hung out on enough Non-Catholic Christian boards to know what many believe. They certainly don’t believe Peter was the rock on which the church was built. To many the rock is the truth that Jesus was indeed the Messiah, the Son of God.

Ignorance of Scripture or a different interpretation?

Are you talking just different slices of Christianity or are you combining all religions?

Some Christian religions, the Episcopalians for this one, have started to believe that their is more than one path to God. This would make Jesus’s mission optional for all humanity (BALONEY) and also calling Him a liar at the same time.
