Nor will I, mike…way to go :tiphat:OK, “brand of worship” is bad way of putting it. Each “slice” of Christianity makes the claim that God has revealed himself to them, and I’m not in a position to argue against that. Each claim the Holy Spirit is leading them.
I believe in the Christianity that the Catholic Church exhibits and practices. However, I will not condemn the Christian worship that other churches practice. IMO, neither should anybody else.
I don’t think mikew is aware of these Teachings. If he were, he would not be placing himself in the anathematized category.I FULLY believe in the Council of Trent and it’s decrees.![]()
Amen !!! Mike I wish we could all agree on this there would be so much less argument. There is nothing wrong with pointing out the differences to somebody of a different faith; if it’s mean’t to be then that person may convert. However crossing the line by stating what they believe is wrong and a heresy and causing conflict accomplishes nothing positive.
Speak for yourself, mikew. Catholics believe what is true according to what Jesus revealed. We know what this revelation is because it has been passed down to us through the Apostolic Succession.Ok, I’ll answer you and then I’ll stop. You go with what you believe to be true according to your conscious and faith. This is what we all do believe it or not.
I will agree with this statement.Your conscious and faith has led you to the CC. Somebody else’s has led them to be a Methodist.
Here is an example of a non-Catholic thing to say. It is not loving to confirm others in falsehood. If we cannot stand up for what is true, then Jesus will not stand up for us when the time comes. There is nothing wrong with pointing out the differences to somebody of a different faith; if it’s mean’t to be then that person may convert. However crossing the line by stating what they believe is wrong and a heresy and causing conflict accomplishes nothing positive.
“Catholics are equal to Protestants”. As individuals- TRUE.Catholic’s are equal to Protestants. Although most Catholics don’t believe that, same with Protestants, WE ARE!
I’m talking individuals here.So was the Council of Trent wrong in BLASTING the heresies of the ‘reformation’?![]()
Most all faiths agree on the Christian basics.“Catholics are equal to Protestants”. As individuals- TRUE.
Catholicism equal to Protestantism. As regards doctrines and teachings- FALSE!
Yes, and it doesn’t have to be. It all goes back to the thread topic.Wow, this place has become a battlefield!
Trapped in relativism? I rather think I’m trying to act/think like a Christian and trying to get some fellow Christians to break away from the this “my faith is better than yours” mindset. It just serves to further the divisions already out there. With all due respect, this is your perception, and not our mindset! You are the only one who can get yourself out of it. That will not happen as long as you are trapped in relativism.
Well, what are you going to do about it? Are you willing to start posting what Catholics believe? Are you willing to take your faith seriously, and not water it down in order to feel warm and fuzzy with those who reject it?
Who says I’m rejecting the Catholic faith?Yes, I understand and accept this. HOwever, mikew is talking about rejecting Catholic faith, and is producing commentary that is “protesting” what the Church teaches. If he chooses to embrace beliefs that are not Catholic then his beliefs no longer (if ever they did) reflect Catholic Teaching. What benefit is there to claiming one is Catholic when one openly denies the Church teachings?
Off the top of my head, I’m not sure. Pls educate me.What did Christ say to the Apostles when they complained that one Simon Magnus was casting out demons in the name of God when he was not one of the Apostles?

You should look it up. It supports your views!Off the top of my head, I’m not sure. Pls educate me.
It gets very nasty but here is the fact:On another thread which was recently closed down, a lot of the discussion indirectly centered around the “My faith is better than your faith” concept. In other words, some Catholics were saying and/or insinuatiing our faith is the true faith and the whole truth and your Protestant faith is lacking and thus imperfect. Likewise some Protestants were saying the Catholic faith encouraged idol worship and spread a false gospel.
IMO, these types of attitudes do nothing but fuel the divisiveness between the various Christian denominations and Catholicism and accomplish nothing positive. Instead of trying to find fault, why not rejoice in the what they most all have in common.
Most Christian groups all believe the above things. While we may worship God differently to some respect, most all agree on the basics. Does God really care that we worship differently, as long as we are sincere in that worship?
- Christ is the Son of God
- Trinity
- Christ died for our sins
- The Resurrection
This may have been discussed enough already on the other thread, but I invite anyone’s comments. However, lets try to keep a charitable tone.
