Going through some boxes in the garage I found a book by fr. cough heretic cough Richard McBrien. Apparently some priest had given it to my wife when she first joined the Church.

So
WOOF! It went.

Please people, destroy these things. Our public library has a few books that I think may get “disappeared”.

burning books that belong to you is fine, if you are not violating a city ordinance. Burning books that belong to your wife is wrong if you did not have her permission. Burning books that belong to the library is illegal, an offense against the 7th commandment.

There is nothing that belongs to my wife that doesn’t also belong to me. “A man shall leave his family and cleave unto his wife and they shall become one flesh.” This idea of his stuff/her stuff one of the many symptoms of pending marital disaster. IMHBAO.

She was there. I’ll be happy to make full restitution be used to buy books which don’t teach doctrine of demons. Every “Catholic” book in our library drips with the bile of Satan.

Here’s a list of dissenting authors if you need any help.
ourladyswarriors.org/dissent/disspeop.htm

“Therefore We entreat you to use every means of revealing to your faithful people the many kinds of plot, pretense, error, deceit and contrivance which our enemies use.” --Pope Pius IX

“In fact, the diseases of consciences, their indifference to good and evil, their errors, are a great danger to man. They are indirectly a menace to society as well, because the level of society’s morals depends in the ultimate analysis on the human conscience. A man who has a hardened heart and a degenerate conscience is spiritually a sick man, even though he may enjoy the fullness of his powers and physical capacities. Everything must be done to bring him back to having a healthy soul.” --Pope John Paul II

some quotes from fr. Richard McBrien

“Did Jesus intend to found a Church?” " ‘No’ if by ‘found’ we mean some direct, explicit deliberate act by which Jesus established a new religious organization… . The majority of scholars today support the assumption that Jesus expected the end to come soon."

(regarding original sin) “theologians today would probably agree with the philosopher Paul Ricoeur, who refers to the doctrine as a rationalized myth about the mystery of evil.”

And many more can be found from his vile tongue.

no doubt if she feels your bad mood is due to your poor golf game, and that your favorite putter is to blame, and she breaks it in two, she is entirely justified.

Wouldn’t it be more productive and less sinful to just donate some books that are faithful to the teaching of the Church to your library?

Father McBrien is a darling of the Mainstream Media and is as close to teetering on the edge of formal heresy as you can get without having a public declaration of anathema put on you by the Church.

I see.

I’ll have to look into this. I’ve never heard of it.

Thanks for the clarification.

Here are some reliable sources to get a taste of this man.

And if you only need to know one thing, know this, he is a supporter of Call to Action.

I’m surprised you are allowed to get away with advocating criminal activity on a “religious” message board. Shame on the officials who let this stay up. It should be removed.

Heh, it’s not time it “disappear” them yet, but if all other recourse to get them removed fails, then w will just have to see what happens. I plan on writing them first, then collecting signatures, after that see what other legal recourse we have.

:ehh:

I will admit, I do not like articles or text that villifie and attack the church. However, burning writtings of others just because they are heretical and in disagreement is beyond the bounds of rightous indignation.

Yes, these things anger me. However, if I persecute or destroy all dissenting materials that others own or value…basically I am saying that the only way that one would believe my faith is if all other detractors cease to exist.

Jesus, as a command, asks us to give deffense for our happiness. To act as a contridiction to society. To destroy those things that stand against us in the way you are advocating is what society does. As a Christian, I must bare the burden of these lies, and stand in dispute to them.

Now, I don’t mean that I want you to allow persecution. But a verbal or written argument is MUCH more effective than burning a book that disagrees with the truth of the faith. It will strengthen your faith and assist you in helping others come to the Church by pointing out how vile this author is to its teachings.

Also, by burning books you are feeding into protestant opposition to the faith. They say we want to destroy an competition to Christ. Although it is true that we do want to break away all the heresies that distract from the truth; we must do it in faith and argument. Paul is an excellent example (he even used the teachings of the platonics against the pagans to show the truth of the faith).

Just my thoughts. Peace in Christ be with you. And Viva Bennedict XVI!!!

I had that McBrien book and was going to auction it on E-bay when I discovered how bad it was. It was better to burn the thing.

Be proactive when you must!

My options were to, keep it, let it fall into someone else’s hands, or destroy it. I’ll not regret my decision.

🙂

I understand your frustration… but consider…

To follow that logic to its ultimate conclusion:

If an abortion clinic opened next door to you in spite of letter writing, calling politicians, prayers, having people sign petitions didnt work according to some pre-determined cut off date you may impose…Would your next step be to fire bomb that abortion clinic or threaten the life of a doctor? Of course not!

Stick with burning your private property, its much safer and more legal.

Now…if you were to go into the library and create your own system as to where those kind of books were located…oh, I dont know…putting them in some boring genre sections on the bottom shelf somewhere… 😉

How nice if Benedict XVI would bring back the Index of Forbidden Books.

I seem to remember another place where they burned books… then they burned people…

FOR SHAME!
