Today I was pulled from my unit to work a different one. I experienced my first death. I found her on my first rounds. After preparing her body, I had to take a break.
I suppose it is “lucky” that I didn’t know her, however, I was really affected. She was alone, I’m having a hard time with that.
Also, please pray for her, as well.

May God lead you and guide you and give you peace and help you feel His love always.
Our Father…

Thank You Lord that this deceased person has such a caring person as Kendra to pray for their soul. Bless this person’s soul, Lord.
You were with this person as they died, so give Kendra peace.
Some people like to slip away without fuss, so it may have suited the person’s nature, so please give Kendra comfort.
Thanking You in trust.

Eternal rest grant unto her o Lord.
And may perpetual light shine on her.

God bless KendraDZ1902 and all medical carers.
Amen.

I pray that you will be able to face
death knowing that Love is as
strong as death(Canticles 8:6).
My first death happened as I was
singing for the residents of a nurs-
ing home, this lady on a portable
bed died while I was singing “How
Great Thou Art”!

Then sings my soul, my Savior God
to Thee, how great Thou art,
how great Thou art!!!

Praying for you both, Kendra.
You gave her care. That means something beautiful.
Look to Theresa of Calcutta for inspiration. She faced death daily, among those forgotten and alone. Ask her for strength in these sad times.
We love you, you’re going so well.
Your patients are lucky to have such a loving care-giver.
❤️

Praying for the repose of her. Praying for you also, Kendra. It’s never easy when a patient passes. Rest assure that God had his reasons to call them home.

Thanks so much, y’all. I was told I would never forget my first one. I can’t get her poor face out of my head. She didn’t want any meds to keep her comfortable, and suffering was written on her face.
It makes me feel kind of selfish that I don’t like the feelings I am having, when she’s the person who died. I’m really glad that my normal unit is subacute and not long term, because I don’t get to know my patients very well, since they are there a max of 21 days. I know for sure that I need to follow my career path and not do long term or hospice. Those are some special people who can do that regularly.
I was told that the first was the hardest and hopefully when the next one happens, I will be better prepared.

Please continue to pray for her, myself, and her family.

I guess you are a nurse?

I will pray for you and for her.

I am a hospice volunteer, who has been with more than 200 patients as they passed into the hands of Christ. For me, it doesn’t get easier, only different. Some people pass away peacefully, some fight it with all their might. Some suffer, some do not. Helping them confers a certain grace that you can’t help but be thankful for. I think you will feel that grace after the initial feelings wear off.

I’m sorry you’re feeling so bad right now. It will get better, and you will come to see the grace in helping people die when it is their time, when God calls them. I will pray that you feel that grace soon.

God bless and thank you for your devotion to the sick and hurting.

Dear God, please help Kendra to feel the grace in helping the dying to cross from this life into eternity. Give her peace and serenity in the knowledge that she is truly an instrument of your peace and love. Please help Kendra’s patient to enter heaven quickly. We all need your love and mercy, and right now, Kendra and her patient need it a little more than usual. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

I’m currently a CNA, but I’m continuing my education. You are such a special person to be a hospice volunteer.

Thanks, everyone for the prayers!
