i met a woman (upper middleclass, only two kids, husband and her both work, healthy) who had 4 abortions and…was proud of it.

I pointed out that the more conservative a bishop is the better…long story short, she brings up abortions, I said it causes depression, she goes thats not true I’ve had about four of em.
How does one speak to such a person?

I will tell you from personal experience that some people who appear proud are living in denial. Don’t want to believe that abortions is bad because they will feel guilty and as a culture we are taught not to feel any guilt. My suggestion is to pray for her to have a change of heart. So many of us have had that change in heart and are some of the loudest voices against abortion.

Pray for her. It is quite common for women to have repeat abortions if they do not get healing through a process such as Rachel’s Vineyard or Project Rachel. Perhaps get some info on these and give them to her if you know her. PAS, post-abortion syndrome has many symptoms and denial is one of the big ones.

Getting to know her better may well reveal something completely different. I knew a woman once who bragged about how she had manipulated those at her university hospital to get an abortion pre-Rowe. This was at her boyfriend’s urging. She had to say that having a child would harm her psychologically, before a tribunal, although she would tell everyone that she was just lying to get the procedure. We don’t have tribunals these days, but most woman, I think, rationalize abortion on some ground, often much more trivial.
An unfortunate thing happened though. The “lie” somehow became a part of how she viewed herself. It caused her a lot of psychological turmoil because, although she really never believed it of herself before the abortion, after it she was afraid to think about having a child. As a matter of fact, she was afraid of any close relationship. It seemed she found it less painful to live the lie rather than confront the reality of the abortion.

I feel thy pain brother. She killed four of her own Children. I’m tearing up now, I just can’t comprehend it. I’m a teen guy that loves kids, I play with them before and after mass (usually the choir needs to set up and theres a baby or two and I get to roll around with em, they’re so friggin innocent and cute, you just wanna like, squish 'em). How can anyone look at the face of a 2 year old Child and not be pro life?
And the way abortion occurs, they use the forceps to tear the kids head off…Aww God.

And then these people see a pro-life, pro-child family with 4-5 kids or more and say “Can’t you *control * yourselves?” or some other demeaning comment. In their mind, abortion is fine, just don’t have more than 2 or 3 kids at the most–now THAT would be a crime! Grrrrrrr

My hubby worked with a woman that had an abortion. She claimed to have no guilt. According to what she told my hubby, she aborted her child because she was in a marriage to drug taking jerk and it would have been cruel to bring the child into such an enviroment. Of course this isn’t logical. How is it cruel to let someone live, especially as the mom was on her way out of the relationship and already had one child? My hubby said that this same woman really enjoyed male bashing and getting other women to do so.

My religion teacher was in school with a Labour TD (Teachta Dála; Member of the lower house of Irish Parliament, Dáil Éireann). Labour are outlined their agenda and policies on abortion (As they are in a “Rainbow” coalition with the more conservative (Though still somewhat centre right) party Fine Gael, it has ruled out my vote for the more conservative party, therefore I shall vote, most likely, for the present government, who is less right, but still centre right), of course, this woman he went to school with, is now very much pro-abortionist.
She was at a rally, once, near a Church, a friend of my religion teacher walked up to her, and said: “It’s because of people like you, people like me are being terminated.”, I forget what disability he had, it wasn’t very apparent, physically, and it wasn’t mentally.
She was completely trapped, infront of the crowd, and it is the truth. They are advocating legalising abortion, she is such a feminist, secularist and anti-life campaigner, she constantly attacks the Church… I cannot think of her name, maybe good ol’e internet could help.
Feminism… You realise men are now at a disadvantage in certain areas? Heh…
But it sounds as if you need to delve into the area of abortions more… Go to anti-abortionist groups, meetings etc… Internet (Though unfortunately type in abortion you get too many pro-abortionist bull-----). I can tell you everything wrong with abortion, but it’s better if you learn yourself, and then give her a piece of your mind, and ours.

- I know the basic of whats wrong with abortion (ie, human life is inseperable from human rights and it is sacred from conception etc) and the horrible effects it has on the woman. Breast Cancer, depression, suicide etc.
- Would us telling people off all the time do anything? No. Rather, we should make our views clear, but love them into submission and always be ready to answer their inquiries.

I have an aquaintance that I’ve known since middle school (yeah, Catholic middle school by the way) who has had at least 3 that I know of. I have a friend that is not really pro-choice as in she wouldn’t do it herself but “isn’t going to tell anyone else what to do” but even she said to her after she had her 3rd, “you know…abortion is not birth control” not that I advocate contraception use, especially by a Catholic, but I really wish in all honesty that they had used a condom instead of killing another child.
The sick thing was I was at work when she was pregnant with her third (i believe it was only her 3rd) and i had heard through a friend that she was keeping the baby. So I told her congratulations and we chatted about baby furniture and stuff- they had just bought a crib. Well, her and this boyfriend that was the father had a fight and she kicked him out. She then had an abortion. I ask you, how in the world can you come home and look at that crib after doing that?? It just is beyond my understanding. So sick.
She has a son, by the way - she had him when we were 15, he’s 7 now. Her mother has custody. He’s an adorable little boy, but has no real relationship with his mother. I’m glad she at least let him live. I think her mother convinced her though at that age to have the child but once she was over 18…there wasn’t much her mom could do. I really hope this friend of mine gets help someday because I think eventually it’s going to catch up with her what she’s done and she’s going to need it. Right now though she doesn’t seem to care.
