See the link directly above your post - the technique is described in there. It in an acronym - GIFT.

Probably she misunderstood someone’s statement or she is lying. However, it NONE of your business to ask for documentation. You made your point clear, now leave it alone! Do you think that nagging her would do any good? If she decided that she wants to go through with IVF nothing will stop her but loving behaviors.
you are absolutely right! I dont need any documentation. but what worries me is that someone, a clergy or lay person, is telling her this is permissible. Im sorry i even doubted the pope or “rome” he would never allow invitro. TWO definate sins are involved in the process and conception takes place outside of the body. I told her once that there is no way the pope would give permission and I dont need to say it again. now i just need to pray. She is looking for my blessing to do this and since i told her i couldnt ,she feels like it is a slap in the face

she cant do gift because she has no fallopian tubes
But she can adopt. I would gently try to tell your friend that the morally acceptable solution in their situation would be to adopt if they feel they MUST have children.

Good luck with this - but I feel you are doing the right thing in standing ground on what is right, and defending Church teaching.

So I thought we must all be open to the gift of life?

Why should it matter if the woman gets an invitro? What is the sin?

Aren’t single parents allowed by the Catholic Church?

you see, it’s things like this which only fuel my belief that sex is for procreation within a marriage only.

But on the pother hand, how the heck would she get the pope’s permission to do so? And even if he gave her permission, isn’t the Pope infallible and we must obey his word? That is to say, because he said it’s okay then it’s okay and shouldn’t be questioned?

Yes - we are, but only through natural means.

There are many reasons why this is not morally acceptable. Please do a search for IVF on this forum and you will see many discussions regarding why.

Single parents made single in what way?

With all due respect - it’s folks like you who don’t do your homework and learn what the Church actually teaches, and makes massive assumptions that are totally wrong, that give the Catholic Church a bad name. If you actually educate yourself before assuming you will learn a lot.

No - the pope would not do this, it is a ridiculous assumption to think so. And on papal infallibility, you need to do some homework on this as well so you can understand it fully. Do a search for this subject as well.

I thought no and not under any circumstance. I’m very upset that my friend just got pope consent that it is okay to have invitro done? I’m totally confused and very upset. What is going on with the Church? I know there are other ways such as gift but didnt know invitro was ok,
I think someone’s telling a fib. It’s the same as the Vatican telling them it’s OK to perform unnatural sex acts, as long as a baby is in the picture somewhere. The ends never justify the means. She would be beyond child-bearing years by the time the Vatican responded. Or is that the problem???

Single parents made single in what way?
Does the way really matter?

If it must then they simply could’ve had premarital sex and never married in which case the child would be an illegitimate child. Or the child could’ve been born after an annulled marriage or after a divorce. Or invitro.

I assume you are not Catholic otherwise you would know the answer.
