Without too many spoilers he dictates aspects of her life some times, he tracks her via electronic devices he gifted her and shows up unexpectedly, sold her car without prior discussion, and a handful of moments of questionable consent. There’s other stuff too, but to me the male seemed abusive and the female naive.

Yes. Behavior that those same women would find alarming if Christian was physically unappealing and/or lived in a shack in the middle of nowhere. Or just had a shack in the middle of nowhere. Yikes.
