The first few people who responded were quite abrasive and scrutinized my post, for whatever reason, and that really sucked the joy out of my ability to finally write this.

Honestly, I didn’t see any abrasiveness. I saw a few people who were curious about your husband’s circumstances - a natural curiosity as so many people here are converts. Try not to take it too personally. Blessings to the both of you!

Please let me know if there are any other technicalities I need to clear up to “prove” that he did, in fact, go through the Sacramental process correctly to be received by a Holy Priest into the Catholic Faith.

Perhaps I should transcribe his confession, or attach a video file of each of his classes to see if you all approve of what he was taught, or even give you the Priests phone number to call to see if he performed the Sacraments correctly.

I’m thrilled that your Pastor is doing the RCIA process correctly for those who have been baptized and have been practicing Christians and seek full communion with the Catholic Church. I was brought in the same way. They had me start RCIA but the Catholic Chaplin brought me into the Church early because I was getting ready to deploy (I was in the Army then).

I’ll say a prayer for your husbands continuing conversion and strengthening in the faith.

Oh my, I’m so sorry if I sounded abrasive, I was the second one who responded so I may be included in “the first people who responded”. I came to post because I saw your title and I thought it truly was awesome! I’m sorry if I didn’t convey it well enough in my shorter post. I have been praying for the conversion of my BIL since my sister got engaged to him about 7 years ago. I would be ecstatic if he converted, and he isn’t even my husband, I cannot imagine the happiness you must be feeling, and I am so happy for you!!! I was confused about the timing, I am sorry for mentioning it, I thought maybe he was a revert, reversion is awesome too , sorry if I made you upset in this wonderful moment in your life. Welcome to the Church to your husband, and I am so happy for you, how awesome!

If she were here announcing a pregnancy, would you grill her on whether the act was technically correct and whether the most advisable positions were used? I mean, really…

Wow, the Spanish Iniquisition haha.

Our church has the RCIA program for both Baptised and un-Baptised participants. There were only 3 that were Baptised and 4 that weren’t so it made sense to just have one class. For those that are Baptised, they still need the classes because to truly be a Catholic, then you need to truly know what that represents, and frankly, agree with it. Otherwise, whats the point?

The classes started last fall, and went every week.

Our church has it that those who were Baptised (in this case, my husband had been Baptised in the Catholic Church, but was raised Lutheran after that by his parents) are received into the Church and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and of the Eucharist two weeks before Easter, and then those who are un-Baptised are received on Easter.

I hope this answers the formality questions of what transpired, when and why.

It has been a consolation to me that although we have an otherwise troubled marriage my dh and I are of the same faith and mostly the same purpose.

I am curious though after reading the thread. I don’t know much about the RCIA process. When you say received into the church do you mean confirmed?

Rejoicing with you. I was my husband’s sponser in RCIA 19 years ago. Sharing our faith together has made our marriage so much stronger and wonderful. Blessings on you both.
