Long story, but here it the short version. My husband is not looking to convert (or “revert” to islam) however, he wants to check it out, based on his very shallow reason, that he works with some nice muslims.

I need help.

I have stepped into a mosque when i was searching for the Truth. Let your husband go to the mosque if he wants. There is nothing you can do to stop him if he so desires, but pray for him. However, let him know that if he wants to embrace a religion, he must first ask some very tough questions. Muslims usually shy away from topics such as the Armenian genocide, Taqiyya and Qitman (although it is a Shi’a doctrine, it does not stop them), Mohammad’s lineage, etc. I asked my priests about Exorcism in the 21st Century, and they were sweating bullets but i recognized their desire to explain as much as they could, despite me being the rascal of RCIA. If someone cannot give you straight answers, then you know that is not the right religion for you or your husband.

To me, it makes no sense to believe in any other God.

I would approach your problem in a different way, I would recommend that your husband visit Saudi Arabia for a week or so, if he is a businessman he can get 30 days Visa easily, let him come to the source of Islam, let him see Kabba, and let him interact just one week with those “nice muslims”, then let him decide which religion is right for him.

They pray with beads also? I heard him say that. And he asked me to pray the ones he got and how to, and that was enough for me.

Not in the same way. Prayer beads are not unique to any faith. They all have the same purpose for use: to help keep up with where you are in the prayer. Off the top of my head, I can think of four religious systems that use them, and if I tried I could come up with more.

The important part is the message, not the tools. Mary, at least in the Catholic faith, has a special role as the Mother of God. Her heart was pierced so that the hearts of many would be made known. We are shown the best example of a human servant of God with her and we can fully understand what the calling of a CHristian is with Mary.

In Islam, it is not the same. She is just another slave used by Allah for a purpose, but in and of herself, she shows us nothing. Her son is second to Muhammed and she is still a woman in a very, very mysoginistic faith.

Start reading the posts from muslims - you get nothing but distortions - they only post the abrogated surahs of the koran and paint islam as all peaceful and rosey. They follow a very nasty guy and they can’t even admit to that! He was so bad he had to redefine sin because killing, looting, stealing, lying, greed, lust/rape, enslavement was a-ok! mohammed did those things plus tortured and ordered assasinations.

If Islam does indeed turn out to be the Truth, then your husband might be the one who will help you get into Paradise.

On the other hand, if Islam does not turn out to be the Truth, then you have nothing to worry about because you have already decided not to become a Muslim.

And since your husband is an atheist, then even if he reverts to Islam, it will not adversely affect his chances anyway of escaping the Hell-fire in the event that Islam does not turn out to be the Truth.

If Islam is the truth , at least husband is safe , If Christianity is the truth then both are safe ( according to Catholic’s belief ) .

Wrong. He will be judged for what he did and did not do. THat includes if he responded to God’s call in his life to accept the Truth of Jesus Christ. SHe will NOT be able to get him into heaven if he denied Jesus in this life.

It is not a bad idea to see where other people are coming from, that is true. However, is it possible to study Islam without ending up waist-deep in it?

Let him investigate but let him investigate on his own as well, not just listening to what the sheikhs want him to hear. Is he interested in theology or in some community to adhere to? because you say he is an atheist so why start from Islam and not Judaism or Christianity? Maybe you can invite him to CAF as well where he can read arguments from both sides.

I am studying it. But, the more I read the more disgusted I become with it. I never started studying it with the idea I would convert though. I wanted to know ‘why do they hate us?’, ‘why do the so called ‘moderates’ dance and ulalate over all those dead on 9/11 - not only here in the USA, but around the globe?’, ‘why do they sound like robots when they say, “we do not believe in the killing of innocents and we do not believe in suicide bombers”’. It was all very inconsistent with ‘peace’. And lastly, ‘why do they keep breaking the peace treaties with Isreal?’.

Well, I found out - mixed meanings for words, deception and ALL the 7 deadly sins including murder and torture are a-ok in islam because their ‘prophet’ did them and muslims follow him, and they do is take violence and chaos, and turn it into an allah-given right - it is given an aura of goodness.

Now, if one starts studying it with the idea that they want to convert - who or what direction will that person take to find out the truth? Go to muslim clerics, muslim websites, etc who will deceive or go on a search for oneself?

It used to be hard to differentiate what muslims were saying and why are the history (past and present), koran, mohammed’s life, and so called ‘peaceful’ muslims so different. Not anymore when I realized that there is no difference between the ‘radicals’ and ‘peaceful’ ones. The difference is that one group prefers not to shed blood and would rather send their money to the jihadists and practice deception to call others to islam. The facade is thin though. Know islam and when they get into a corner their true selves come out.

Ah, but have you studied it on your own or with help from a Muslim cleric?

See, the more I learn of the faith on my own, the more I think that they are not 100% honest with us. I have never doubted a word that Sister Amy has said to me, but somehow, those Muslims from overseas seem to be more than willing to misdirect, obfuscate, change the subject, or whatever to keep us from knowing thier true faith.

It seems like in order to get them to tell you everything, you will have to drink the kool-aid.
