I supported wholeheartedly John Kerry because I do not believe Republicans are sincerely pro-Life or will make abortion illegal. They will never do so because they know the political repercussions. There is also no difference in attitudes between Kerry and Bush on civil unions and Sen Frist supports stem celll research. Is it still a mortal sin for me to have voted for John Kerry? It doesn’t look like GWB is going to appoint the appropriate activist judges who will overturn Roe v. Wade. It seems to me that a vote for GWB can no longer be considered morally superior to a vote for JK - if anything, it is now a morally inferior vote, since Kerry wouldn’t have the blood on his hands from an unnecessary war. All those people who consulted those “Voting Guides for Right-thinking Catholics” in order to know what they needed to think and do were duped by ole George, no?
Unfortunately Pro-Life is being equated with anti-Roe V Wade which wont make abortion illegal just goes back to states who would keep current laws. Realistically, Republicans will not put out a congress bill to outlaw abortions federally.
What is the next best thing—commonsense policies to make abortion RARE by solving root causes of unwanted pregnancy–especially socio-economic causes and here Democrats are the best to do that. In fact Democrats for Life has a 95-10 plan to decrease Aborton rate by 95% by 10 years and it does not include artificial contracption.
I was against Iraq War, death penalty, and want a government helping poor and disenfranchized and disabled–which Pope John Paul preached and Jesus preached.
Now,I am proven right with the appointment of Miers.
When will Pro-Life groups learn that Republicans are just using them? Ask Republicans point blank, " will you work to make abortion to be criminally outlawed 100% and I doubt you will find many Republican politician to do that. It wont happen because it is political suicide for them.
