My mom told me that sometimes she wants to die. I told her that we love her, but, she said that she is just so tired. She reminded me again for her instructions for her funeral and burial, which we have discussed several times. She is only 56 and talks a lot about how life is stupid or pointless. If any one you have read my threads concerning my mom, you know that she can be harsh with me. But, I’m thinking that it stems from her feeling of lack of meaning in her own life. I can imagine that she had dreams that never came to fruition. Her first marriage ended in divorce at a young age because her ex-husband turned out to be too lazy to work. She could not keep living in a precarious financial state and divorced and went to America to work multiple jobs at once to support their son. I think she may have married my dad to stabilize her financially in exchange for giving him a child. I have never seen any affection between them and I think she told me once that she wished she had never married. She is really unhappy and, I don’t think she would kill herself because she loves me, but, pray for her.

Merciful God please flood Your graces upon redbetta and her mother.
Please give this mother faith in Your love of her as a unique, precious person.
Few of us don’t have losses of dreams for our lives, and regrets, but please help this mother to find loving joyful and useful purpose for her life.

I’m praying for you and your mother.

I’m glad you’re there for her when she feels down like this.

Let me know if you want me to do anything else.

Peace my Red.

Your brother,

H

It seems your mother has a Marraige of convenience ,for reasons you stated ,
Men do that as well,
I guess you feel for your mother, understandably so , she is after all your mother,
Does your mother have any interests that she once spoke about but now forgotten ?
My mother rediscovered bark painting ,brought her peace,
Would she be interested in going to the movies ?
Just need to find something that she can enjoy doing, some kind of hobby she can do in the privacy of her own home ,
Perhaps talk about what her interests are to show life is really worth living 🙂

May God bless all of you.

Praying that God helps your mother.
Hail Mary,
Full of grace,
The Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of death
Amen.

My mom will never set foot in a movie theater again due to all the mass shootings in recent years. She does not really have much hobbies. She likes to shop online for clothes and watch TV and that’s it. She especially likes shows that show people having surgery as she is interested in the workings of the human body. I think she wishes she would have done medicine if she had the chance.

My mom is just too tired from work to do much besides fall asleep to the TV. She works as a maid/secretary/manager for a wealthy family with a lot of issues. For example, her boss’ ex-wife who used to consider mom her best friend two weeks ago accused her of stealing from her. She reached a new low in texting the accusations to me and Dad. Dad was scared the police would get involved. Her boss assured her of her trust, that this lady sends him and his kids false accusations on a weekly basis and it’s nothing, but we were still shaken up. Some of you may have seen that prayer thread last year I made when that lady’s new boyfriend who was part of some mafia threatened Mom’s boss with death if he did not hand over more money to his ex. I was scared for my mom in case she got hurt at work. It’s crazy, but, they pay her good money, better than she could ever get with a high school education and poor English.

St. Thérèse of Liseux Prayer From “Story of A Soul”

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received,
and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones,
and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.

Amen.

†

Lord, thank you that you are with me right now.
Your love surpasses all fear.
I give you the anxiety I feel.
I surrender all my worries to you.
Clear my mind;
Calm my heart;
Still my Spirit;
Relax my being, that, I may
always glorify you in everything
I write, speak and do.

Amen.

Jesus, Help Me

In every need let me come to Thee with humble trust, saying,
Jesus, help me!

In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations,
Jesus, help me!

In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials,
Jesus, help me!

In the failure of my plans and hopes; in disappointments, troubles and sorrows,
Jesus, help me!

When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good come from my efforts,
Jesus, help me!

When others fail me, and Thy grace alone can assist me,
Jesus, help me!

When I throw myself on Thy tender love as Father and Savior,
Jesus, help me!

When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me,
Jesus, help me!

When sickness and loneliness overcome me,
Jesus, help me!

Always, in weakness, falls and shortcomings of every kind,
Jesus, help me and never forsake me.

Thank You, dear Lord Jesus.

Amen.

†

Sweet Heart of Jesus, be my love.
Sweet Heart of my Jesus, grant that I may always love You more.
Heart of Jesus, burning with love for us, set our hearts on fire with love of You.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like Your Heart.

Amen.

†

Prayers said. All will be well. Do not fear, the Lord is protecting you.
Do not be lonely, your guardian angel is beside you.
Be comforted, Mother will watch over you, and the
Holy Spirit will guide you.

Amen.

Prayer Against Depression
………….By St Ignatius of Loyola

O Christ Jesus
When all is darkness
And we feel our weakness and helplessness,
Give us the sense of Your Presence,
Your Love and Your Strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
In Your protecting love
And strengthening power,
So that nothing may frighten or worry us,
For, living close to You,
We shall see Your Hand,
Your Purpose, Your Will through all things.

Amen.

Let Nothing Disturb You

Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.

Patience,
Obtains all things,
Whoever has God
Lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.

**My Jesus,
I believe that You are
present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and
I desire to receive You into my soul.
**Since I cannot at this moment receive
You sacramentally, come at least spiritually
into my heart. I embrace You
as if You were already there and
unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated
from You.

Amen.

Piarist fathers have taught this short act of
Spiritual Communion, popularized by St. Josemaria Escriva:

I wish, Lord, to receive You with the purity, humility and
devotion with which Your most holy Mother received You, with the
spirit and fervour of the saints.

Amen.

**
Thank You dear Lord Jesus, always and
everywhere, for everything.

Amen.

† **

Jesus, I trust in You.

Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility
and Mother of Hope,
look upon redbetta’ Mother in this time
of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart
to know that God’s Love
for her is unchanging and
unchangeable, and, that
true human love can only
begin and grow by touching
His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -
which this world cannot give
  • be always with her.
And, help her to bring this
    same Peace into the lives
    of others.
Our Lady of Mental Peace,
  • Pray for us!
    Amen.

She is depressed. Try, as pianistClare suggested, to get her to seek help. Praying in the meantime…

Lord, our God,
you graciously chose St. Dymphna
as patroness of those afflicted with mental
and nervous disorders.
She is thus an inspiration
and a symbol of charity
to the thousands who ask her intercession.

Please grant, Lord,
through the prayers of this pure youthful martyr,
relief and consolation to all suffering such trials,
and especially those for whom we pray.

We beg You, Lord,
to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna on our behalf.
Grant all those for whom we pray
patience in their sufferings
and resignation to Your divine will.
Please fill them with hope,
and grant them relief.

We ask this through Christ our Lord
Who suffered agony in the garden.

Amen.
