I’m not sure why you or anyone else would think this is less important than others issues on here. In God’s eyes, there is absolutely nothing more important than the salvation of souls. Bodily and mental illnesses are temporary; damnation is eternal, just as medical cures are temporary but salvation is everlasting. As a former atheist, I can deeply sympathize with your mother’s qualms. Uncertainty, especially based in our limitation and fallibility as finite beings, is a very real issue. The only way to overcome this is to realize that faith is not based in our mental certitude, but in the fact that God Himself reached out to us and bridged the gap that we as human beings could never cross. Our faith may have doubts, but God’s faith in us is doubtless, and His promises are perfect.
I sincerely pray that your mother’s conversion may persist despite her doubts and dilemmas, guided by the grace of Christ who illuminates her to the objective truth of His love and being. I also pray that she may be protected from all evils, particularly the snares of the Devil and her own internal weaknesses which may distract her from Christ. I pray for all those in the world who have no faith or whose faith is being challenged. And finally, I pray that you may constantly be an example and help to her in her journey to Christ.I ask for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, your mother’s guardian angel, and St. Michael the Archangel. God bless.
St. Michael the Archangel
Defend us in battle
Be our protection against
The wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray
And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
Through the power of God,
Thrust into Hell, Satan and all the evil Spirits
Who prowl about the world, seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
