Have them blessed by your priest .I have 5 Monastery Icon “Icons” if you want to call them that. The only one I have up is the one I have had blessed. I figure this one isn’t too bad because Our Lady of the Passion is a pretty well known icon and has some deep, really very profound theology to it. That being said I still have no idea what to do with the other Monastery “Icons.” (I bought those before I knew about how crazy they are.)
Thanks for the info! The Gospel Book I should have figured out if I would have looked at the cover. One is the Jordanville Prayer book on the left and the other is a Gospel Book
Far left is Tsar Nicholas II
The second one from the right is Michael the Archangel
The far right is Father Nicholas the Wonderworker
The Saint in the large icon appears to be Saint Joseph the Betrothed with The Lord Jesus Christ. Thanks for the info! The Gospel Book I should have figured out if I would have looked at the cover.Tsar Nicholas II - check. The other two icons…I’m not sure if we are thinking of the same ones, so I highlighted them. When you get a chance…can you confirm these two please?

The second image, I have the exact same bible (RSE) next to my bed. Very nice!I’m pretty sure the pictures of it will appear with this post. Just thought I’d share my new Icon Corner. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks,
FKC
The end is nigh!Oh no, not more Monastery icons…
Were did you buy the Jordanville Prayerbook?Yes I am but I love, absolutely LOVE the Eastern Rites, however we do not have an Eastern Church near to us.
Bring out yer dead! Bring out yer dead! The end is nigh!
Take them to a priest, explain the situation, and have them blessed.I have 5 Monastery Icon “Icons” if you want to call them that. The only one I have up is the one I have had blessed. I recently ran into some Monastery Icons at a local bookstore. It’s honestly upsetting that good, holy Christians are fooled into buying them. I thought, “Wow, Saint Francis!” I looked on the back, and guess what it said…The end is nigh!

Sadly true. They are devoid of warmth and grace, so you can easily spot them. We should have an awareness-campaign or something with stickers and posters, something like the campaign about that ugandan warlordI recently ran into some Monastery Icons at a local bookstore. I’ve noticed, their artistic style gives them away, without even looking at the back of the icon.
Ha! I’ll start work on the video. ‘Monastery Icons: Phony 2012’Sadly true. They are devoid of warmth and grace, so you can easily spot them. We should have an awareness-campaign or something with stickers and posters, something like the campaign about that ugandan warlord![]()

Aren’t most of their icons of western saints?Sadly true. They are devoid of warmth and grace, so you can easily spot them. We should have an awareness-campaign or something with stickers and posters, something like the campaign about that ugandan warlord![]()
Yes. Also see if the background is yellow or gold. If yellow, it’s probably a Monastery icon.Aren’t most of their icons of western saints?
I would say, be immediately suspicious of a Padre Pio icon and check the back before purchasing.
Indeed that’s how many got “hooked” when they first started out - offering icon-like renderings of Western saints. They also appealed to smaller parishes and mission parishes by offering decently attractive iconic images at reasonable prices. However, these days, you can get the same, likely better from reliable sources. Monasteries are running online stores in order to generate funds needed to remain self-sufficient - a much nobler cause to support with a better product as well.I recently ran into some Monastery Icons at a local bookstore. Is that so? I wouldn’t know, I have adblocker. It always saddens me when I see people using those accursed icons.Monastery Icons is fairly aggressive as a business, especially when it comes to internet advertising. There are more than a few Eastern Christian blogs which cannot properly avail themselves of the opportunity to generate supportive funds through ad content, as it is more likely than not that a Monastery Icons ad will appear on their blog page.
