I have heard this through Rachel’s Vineyard, a ministry to women who have had abortions. I receive prayer requests for these women when they are on the retreat in our area- it is amazing how many initials we receive. The founder of Rachel’s Vineyard on EWTN not too long ago explained how they got the survey- although I can’t remember the details now… I have heard this percentage to a varying degree else where too. The point is, women regret abortions and men do regret lost fatherhood.
 
I don’t know if this link was posted up-thread, it is the Julia Holcomb/Steve Tyler story which ended in tragedy. She speaks plainly and non-judgementally in the video embedded in the article:

Please ask your niece to view Julia’s story. Praying for your niece. Don’t give up hope, go to the clinic with her and remain outside to pray. Where is the father of the baby?

I just met her the other night, at the annual for our pro-life coalition. She was wonderful, and her story is painfully truthful. She had no intention of ever making her story public but Tyler published a book which named her and distorted what happened. One of her sons actually found the information on line, can you imagine the pain she felt as she had to tell her sons the truth?? Oh, it is heartbreaking…I sat there with tears running down my face just thinking of what I would feel.

We all had a talk yesterday with my niece and it was full of drama. She is very mad at all of us, but after a couple of hours she said she would go to an appt. that I made for her tomorrow at Catholic Family and Child Services. She will talk with someone there about other options and I am hoping to get her in for a ultrasound after her appt. She still is set on abortion but does not have the money. We may have bought some time to change her mind. Please keep praying. Thanks

That is good, that no one is giving her the money for an abortion. Watch out that the baby’s father & his family don’t come up with it. I would drive her directly to the crisis pregnancy center and walk her inside for the ultrasound after her appointment.

Praying very hard for her and the childs life… Do not lose your faith or trust in God, he is always with us no matter what happens.

My niece called me yesterday afternoon to tell me her boyfriend’s family came up with the money for the abortion so I didn’t need to come get her for the appt’s I made for her. I don’t know what time she will be down at planned parenthood and I don’t know how to find out. What breaks my heart, besides the loss of this baby, is that I don’t know how to deal with the feeling I know I’m going to have about her. She won’t listen to her parent’s , aunts, cousins or grandparents.
 
I just found out that this planned parenthood only does abortions on Monday. So I’m going down there to join the prayer vigil. Please pray she changes her mind.
