That requires the gift of faith. Perhaps you haven’t received it as of yet.
Or anger masks it. Though I must admit my anger is with the institution of men and not the body of Christ.

The wheat will always have to coexist with the chaff. If you seek a perfect Church, you won’t find it this side of eternity. A Perfect Church with Imperfect members is what we will always have.

I have to agree with barnestormer on all points. Especially about the cost of Catholic schools. There is a Catholic girls’ school in my area that we considered sending our daughter to. The tuition is prohibitive (well, at least for us):

For my 8th grade son, if we wanted to send him to Loyola, here’s what the costs would be:

Fortunately, we can and do homeschool, and there are many Catholic curricula to choose from. But I do wish parochial schooling was an option for us to consider.

Gasp!!! Choke!! Can it be so???

On the other hand, tuition at Catholic High School for Boys, here in Little Rock (a very good school that non-Catholics compete to enrol in) is $250 per month for Catholics and $350 per month for non-Catholics.

I don’t understand what your point is with the gasp, choke. Loyola is a Catholic school, and the tuition is high, in my opinion. Do you need to be rude? I wasn’t rude to you.

Dear Auntie, I wasn’t being rude to you. I went to that link you posted to Loyola and “gasped and choked” at the high tuition they charge. When one is used to tuition being some $2,500 a year and then sees that someone else is asking for nearly 10 large, a gasp is in order.

La Chiara:
Well, then get hot and get learning about your faith!

…So I say again “Get hot and get learning about your faith!” Take responsibility for your own knowledge or ignorance. There are certainly plenty of great resources out there!
Thanks for the pep talk. I really need that kick every now and again to take responsibility for my own ignorance.

I have learned more in the past couple years than I did the first 32 years of my life. I thank God for giving me a wake up call a few years back by bringing me close to someone who would serve as His catalyst for inspiring me to take responsibilty for knowing my faith! That someone is my non-Catholic wife!

Oh, sorry! I thought you were being sarcastic or something. Now it makes sense, and I should have just asked what you meant and not rushed to judgement. Please accept my apologies.

It looks like your community is blessed to have a quality Catholic education available for that price.

I think the Church needs more vocations in teaching orders of religious priests, brothers, and sisters. Then orders can (usually) operate schools for much less cost than a school staffed with laity. It’s the way a religious or priest can use their vow of poverty as a blessing for others.

I know this topic is a tangent from the original post, but just as an FYI: attending a Catholic high school in the Seattle area costs anywhere from $6,300 to $10,000 per year.

It is. All Catholic boys are eligible for enrollment without a test. Non-Catholics compete in a test to be eligible. And competition is keen! Catholic High is a totally orthodox school and highly respected in this majority Protestant/Evangelical city.
