Really, this time of the month should be a teaching experience…

keep your mouth shut, write down your concerns and approach them later…

Trust me, after 11 years of marriage and total 14 years together, THAT is the best way to handle it…

OFFER IT UP!

Dana
The OP did mention that he isn’t her husband (yet). What he said was extremely cheap and obvious, like another poster said.

👋 Bye bye boyfriend.

Bama - just read this and thought of my husband - he’d avoid a conversation like this one as the plague…

I will add friends, that I too suffer from incredible mood swings!!!

CAT - you spoke my language, I go through the exact same things - EXCEPT you pointed something out that caused me to go, “hmmmm”, I didn’t think about the “creativity” part - but in careful retrospect - I do redecorate, craft, scrapbook, knit and all my projects are started during that time…incredible to think - and don’t ask how much I spent of holiday decorating well before the holidays…lol…

In any case, DH has learned not to “blame” my cycle for my emotional state, but rather, he’s really, really amazing at (after the fact when I’m calm) asking if I felt that perhaps I was a little more emotional because I was due to start?

This BF of yours sweetie, had NO RIGHT to use that as an excuse…and it was mean of him to BLAME you…but on the same hand, you need to really search your heart and ACCEPT the possibility that well, you may be much more touchy at that time of the month and understand that in some cases, yes, it might have been you that picked the fight - I know I pick fights with DH and he takes it in stride because he understands my cycle…poor bloke sometimes puts up with a LOT

And ladies, I am crazy…emotional…

Someone mentioned PMS as being cited to various court cases…years and years ago it was actually used by a defense team in a murder trial…opened the door for a lot of abuse of PMS in court…

Love this site and again, GUY, you are hilarious…

Blessings to you all,
Holly

Instead of mood swings…although, I have my crying moments…I am INCREDIBLY paranoid during PMS.😦 Like, I think everyone is secretly out to get me, then, after it’s over…I’m back to normal. It’s almost like I’m not in control of my thoughts, and to an extent I’m not I guess, because hormonally the shift is causing my thinking to be cloudy. I try not to make important life altering decisions during that time!:o

I hate the feeling…it has dissipated over the years, but every now and again…I start to feel like I’m the odd woman out.

Any ladies feel that way?

Holly, I told y’all I *wasn’t *gettin involved in this thread.

I’m gonna sit over here with Gardens and watch.

Pranks? Maybe because I was in the fire dept all those years, and now I have no outlet to mess with people? Debbie told me to see if the fire dept wanted me back.

Guy - I was a Customs Officer with Canada Customs for 10 years…we worked very close together and well, if you know women, we tend to all end up on the same cycles at the same time (a small group of us who really did work all the time together)…the men used to say that we were the reason the gov’t wouldn’t give us guns…lol…nor them as they felt they’d be inclined to shoot themselves once a month…

Oh, I already got involved with this thread back with post 11 on page one. But I’m watching you now, Bama. Read and learn men, or you might find a smiley that throws popcorn. 😉

Edit: I am teasing Bama because he’s always eating popcorn on CAF.🙂 I really do hope that men do read this thread and learn how different women react to the hormonal shifts and such during their cycle. Not all women react the same. Many have mentioned that what bothers us during “that time” is what usually bothers us but that we may not always express. There are things that husbands/boyfriends can do to ease the situation, just as there a things women can learn to better deal with their emotions.

I don’t know women in the sense of work place. I was on shift with 15 guys. 🤷

But like I keep tellin y’all I’m *sooo not *getting involved on this thread, cause I don’t wanna step in sumptin.

Hello all,
I want to know why some of the women here are completely taking things out of proportion? Did purelovemmc even say what the argument was? Did she specify that the boyfriend was being a jerk in anyway? Why on earth would you start suggesting that men have to learn, or even to break up with him?

For all you know the he could be very patient, and maybe she was writing the post out of irritation, without including full details. Thanks to the people who kept things normal. God bless

A guy who attributes all fights to your being “on the rag” is extremely immature and unwilling to admit his part. Wait SEVERAL years before marrying him, to see if he grows up at all.

Hi Catholic–he made a comment to the OP that ‘the arguments happen once per month.’ Implied that if she wasn’t pms-ing, the argument might not be happening.

I didn’t suggest leaving him–but thought I’d chime in as to where the posters got the idea that he was behaving badly about her period.
🙂

I am less tolerant of stupid and careless remarks and actions the week before my period. The stupid and careless remarks and actions may be there all month, I am just less emotionally equipped to handle them when I am in the physical and mental distress that accompanies my cycle at this time. The rest of the month I can ignore it.
My advice to any man struggling to understand would be to go out and get botulism for a week and try to handle everything that life–and loved ones-- normally throw at you- with graciousness and tact.

I’m pretty oblivious to my own mood swings, but FI can definitely tell what’s going on with my cycle (sometimes he knows before I do!). I’m much easier to annoy a week before my period. I notice stupid/careless remarks and feel the need to comment on all of them. I also get more combative than normal (I’m pretty stubborn anyway, so it’s not too much of a stretch). I’m sure I’m a lot of other things too, but I rarely notice my mood until a few days later and I apologize to FI for being so crazy! I’m pretty lucky in that FI is very careful to NEVER insinuate that I’m cranky because I’m PMSing - he has two outspoken older sisters and they did not put up with that!

It’s not all bad, though, since learning NFP, FI notices when I’m ovulating because I’ll be extra ready to hurry up and get married and have a baby 😛

I know it is normal to have “mood swings” but mine are to the point where my fiance can tell me when my next period is coming up - does not bring up anything serious the week before, and plans to cook red meat the beginning of that week. 😃 And you all wondered what I saw in him 🙂 One of the things I found out though is the mood swings coupled with depression can become a disorder. And please don’t get me wrong I would never “diagnose” anyone on a website or even imply that but if you think you are over the top you should get have an open honest conversation with your doctor. After I came back to the US from Iraq, developed epilepsy, and lost my job due to the epilepsy and couldn’t drive I got “a little depressed.” This was very different to the high adventure lifestyle I once knew. Needless to say things are better but my monthly cycle never seemed to recover. They actually put me on a anti-depressant that also helps with the PMS mood symptoms and I am sure the MD would know more - but it is much better than messing with someone’s hormones by handing them contraception for many reasons. Not just spiritual ones. I guess my point is that if you take an honest look and you are “over the top” during “that time” :whacky: :crying: :bigyikes: :banghead: :hmmm: then you might want to ask for some help. Take care. God bless. And Bama - you are a very smart man - you must have been trained by a good woman. 👍

The only thing that really matters here, is chocolate.

Maybe a glass of Calvados, if you’re lucky.

Chocolate and Ben and Jerry’s - preferably Cherry Garcia:thumbsup:

or chocolate chip mint.

A way to kick such cravings is to not eat that stuff at all though…and eventually your body naturally won’t crave all that sugar. But, dark chocolate is good for us, I’ve read.😃
