I was 36 & pregnant. I had 2 amnio’s. My reasoning was, if my baby had Down’s syndrome, I’d want the pediatricians to know. The baby would need special attention.
There is a miscarriage risk but more knowledge would be obtained & needed. If a miscarriage happened, take it as Gods will. You don’t want to lose the baby. But that kind of defect is serious. Miracles happen. If praying before the amino brings about a miracle, praise God. If your sweet child has a condition, maybe it will be less severe. There is a need to know.

The baby was to die within hours of her birth. She loved that baby for 9 months & so many hours. The family was all there. She was dressed in doll clothes. They celebrated her life for ever how long. Beautiful
On a sad second note, When you find out the situation, & life is short. Think about organ donating, what is good.
Each life has a purpose.

A heart who can love a gentle heart that may be broken, is a special heart. I feel God sends us special babies, to teach us to love, as big as He can love. God loves us w our imperfections.
