My problem with going to church

my problem with going to church is that i usually commit a mortal sin during the week, and so i go during the week to cleanse my sin, however, before sunday rolls around, i commit mortal sin again, and then i dont want to go to confession twice that same week because i am afraid of what the pastor is going to think when he hears that i cant cleanse myself of this problem, and so then i miss mass on sunday, and then go once a week, and this repeates over and over, and i have not received the body now for a long time because of this, although i am willing to confess, just not more than once a week

I think the solution would be to accept the humiliation. Each time you miss Mass because of this its another sin Our Lord died for. Our sins hurt Him. I’m not saying this to make you feel worse but to say, we need to learn to accept humiliations for love of God. There’s nothing wrong with confessing more than once a week. There are times when I go often and yes it can be very humiliating, but that shows how much pride I still have. The Saints rejoiced in humiliation and people thinking negatively of them. But the priest won’t even think something negative, he would probably be glad you are breaking this habit! I heard that its a joy for them to give absolution

Your fear is keeping you away from the Sacrament that Our Lord longs to give you and which would give you graces over time to sin less. The devil fears that and is trying to stop you. Your fear of Confession is likely a temptation. I would encourage you to fight this temptation and just go you’ll overcome yourself that way and become stronger in love and humility, and even the memory of your sins would be used for good. That way the devil would be defeated in this battle.

After reading all these posts before yours saying, ‘Go to confession’, your post really hits it on the head. It made me laugh too. Reconciliation is here to help us purify our soul, not make us feel better. If a person sets their mind to going to confession regularly, and is earnestly making progress kicking bad habits, then they should not worry about whether or not they decide to receive the Eucharist.

If it was up to me, I’d confess everyday, maybe more in one day, but 2 different and very kind priests, one an American, the other not, told me the same thing, have faith in Jesus’s Mercy I told them my story that I was living in this state for more than a decade without even knowing that I was making mortal sins, they asked me not to worry about that but try to find a therapy for my OCD and depressions.
Last time I went to confess, I told the priest that I was struggling with my addictions and I fell for that and I should confess, he told me that Jesus said come to me, not confess then come to me.
If it makes a difference, one of them is from an Oriental background, but he is a Roman Catholic priest.

If you are really embarrassed, try going to a different priest, so each priest thinks you are going to him once a week.

Or go to a random Catholic church for confession.

Of course you should be fine with going for confession with the same priest 2049291 times a day if you have to. Most priests are glad when people confess, because he or she is a saint in the making, even if the person is a saint for a day. Don’t worry

Go for mass even if you cannot take communion. Avoiding God/church bc you are a sinner is exactly what the little devil wants. And you should annoy the crapp out of the devil.

A month after a confession, I fell into the same sin so I tried to confess again, the priest told me that confession is not a shower we take every time we feel dirty, it is a serious sacrament that must not be abused.

Of course I don’t have all the details of what took place in your confession, nor do I want to know, however, Pope Francis had this to say;

“Let’s not forget that the faithful often struggle to take part in the sacrament, both for practical reasons and because of the natural difficulty in confessing one’s own sins to another person,” he said March 28.
“For that reason we have to work really hard on who we are, on our humanity, so as to never be an obstacle, but to always help people be drawn to mercy and forgiveness,” he told confessors and other participants attending a course sponsored by the Apostolic Penitentiary, a Vatican court that handles issues related to the absolution of sin.

St Teresa of Avila said, “when you find a good confessor, hang on to him for dear life.”

I haven’t had a good confessor since my former one relocated across the country.
