My religion is better than your religion

My question is: if you didn’t think that your religion is somehow better than others, why aren’t you in the one that you do think is the best (ie best represents reality)?

The laws you are referring to are binding on all men since they are part of God’s law and written on the hearts of all men. It’s not because you are a member of the Catholic Church or not that you are bound, but because you are a creation of God.

Likewise, murder is part of the natural law and not binding on only Catholics. Everyone is bound to not murder people.
I believe it is quite egotistical to think that if the Pope or a bishop makes a rule that it also applies to non-Catholics.

No. I believe that God can be worshiped many different ways (religions) as long as they are sincere.

However I do believe that some religions can be bad for people… like cults.
How do you determine which religion is a cult?

My religion is best for me, it is not best for everyone. I know you will take issue with this, but it aligns well with my beliefs.

And that is that.

Onan, however, knew that the descendants would not be counted as his; so whenever he had relations with his brother’s widow, he wasted his seed on the ground, to avoid contributing offspring for his brother.

What he did greatly offended the LORD, and the LORD took his life too.

He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

That is a BIG stretch saying contraception is bad.

I don’t see it.
I don’t see it either. But here is what I do see: I see people getting truly ugly, attacking a poster who asked the simple question “why won’t you respect my right to worship as I please without attacking me or my church?”. If I was looking for further proof of the OP’s comment about wars of religion, I would not have to look any further that this thread. The attitudes expressed here, the hostility, the “we can force our belief on your because it is for your own good” mentality - these were and are the driving forces between all relgious wars, persecutions and discriminations. The “God gave us the right to make you do as we say” mentality is to blame for millions of deaths and untold suffering. All revealed religions are guilty of this. Conversion at the end of a sword to tied to a stake. To be honest, it is sickening. For this to be the way some folks interpret the teachings of the Prince of Peace is ironic, to say the least.

DelScorcho, you sound like an intelligent, compassionate, reasonable and well-balanced guy. Just so you know, nowhere in your posts did I even get a hint that you might be ashamed of your vasectory (I had my tubes tied and it was one of the smartest things I’ve ever done). I wish you well. Peace and Happy Halloween. 😃

No, it’s egotistical for a man-made religion with no authority to deny a natural law.

My point is they are not immoral in my religion… the only religion which applies to me.
Again then, why are you here. I don’t mean to be mean, but if we take a composite of your previous posts:
  1. I’m not under the Church’s authority
  2. truth is relative and all religions equally valid
  3. religion should leave people alone
I must ask again why are you here. If you truly believe what you have posted here, then it shouldn’t matter to you what we think or what the Church thinks whether you are under authority or not. And since truth is relative and should leave people alone, you shouldn’t be here bothering us.

Please, I don’t mean this in an offensive way, but I am trying to understand your motives and reasoning for being here - as it doesn’t seem you care to learn a thing about what the Church teaches, other than to confirm you in your sin(s).

Right. So your belief system IS that there is no one right belief system. Hence you are making an exclusivist claim and annoyed that others don’t accept it. How is that so different from say Catholics claiming their way is the best way exactly?

There is such a thing as self-control - and children aren’t a disease that needs to be cured, anyway. 🙂
We are not open to more kids at this point in our lives… we are good with three.

My personal determination is if it harms someone financially or brainwashes them to either ruin their life or physically injure themselves or others.
Why? Maybe in your religion that is bad, but in their religion that is not consider a sin or immoral. How would you argue against that?

THANK YOU SO MUCH !

And I wish I could be as eloquent in my writing as you are.
