I believe I experienced a miracle… The chains of my rosary turned from steel to gold. I dont know if this is due to over use or it really is a miracle… but it really does look gold. What does this mean? I just hope this isnt a warning of something bad coming up… Ive been using this same rosary to pray decades of the St Gertrude prayer as well… a sign of thanks from the Holy Souls perhaps?

This is not exactly common - but I’ve heard of this happening before. Consider yourself blessed, keep them for those dry times when you feel further from God than you might now.

From what I’ve seen, this is encouragement for conversion - so if someone affected by this is on the fence, and then decides to go all in for God - that’s what it means.

Many rosaries are made with zinc coated copper links. Mine, which I got at my October 1960 First Holy Communion, has seen infinite handling over 51 + years, has the zinc rubbed off most of the chain, it kind of looks copper redish gold. But, trust me, my rosary is unlikely to turn gold.

Check yours with a magnifying glass before pronouncing a miracle. I did see one an aged priest has which looked pretty gold to me. But he’s pretty darn holy.

This is probably the reason. I’ve had a few rosaries do this. Some of mine had copper on the inside. Some of mine had a golden-colored alloy below them. I’ve had silver and zinc coated.

Maybe go to a jeweler and see if he can tell you whether it’s gold or not. It’s a good way to find out if you may have a miracle. : ) I hope it is. That would be beautiful.

I believe! I love this sort of thing!

It allegedly sometimes to pilgrims to certain, uh, holy sites.

If it happened to me (unlikely), the first thing I’d want to know is the truth. I’d get it checked out by a jeweller, and if he thinks it really is gold, then I’d get it assayed just to make sure.

Till then I’d assume it’s some sort of discolouration due to the sorts of explanations given above.

I suppose I’m a bit wary. There was a “weeping Madonna” in a parish near here a few years ago, and a number of people got taken in by it. It was certainly in the local media. But it turned out to be some sort of oil. A few people got rapped over the knuckles by the bishop.

I’d rather know the truth, either way, than engage in wishful thinking.

I, personally, have never experienced this.

However, a friend of mine, a career life-long Navy airplane pilot visited Auriesville and he said his beads turned gold while he was there…

You can make whatever you want out of this.

But this fellow is a pretty rational person.

It could be that… But I was really looking closely, and it looks to me as it is really Gold… not shiny but dull. Even the little chains that are found in between the small beeds.

Could the chain have been silver coated and tarnished. Tarnished silver has a sort of dull, bronz/gold coloring to it. This website (is just a how to clean your silver website) shows a picture of a silver ring that was tarnished, and it has a definite gold colored hue to it. The oils would travel thus tarnishing even the links under the beads.

Don’t worry that it’s a warning of something bad coming up. Just be grateful for God’s kindness and encouragement! 😃

This is just me, but it seems to me that taking it to a jeweler to see if it’s really gold is like ‘looking a gift horse in the teeth’! Receive and be happy! God sees your efforts and is pleased!

Everyone is a critic, and I think by human nature we doubt things. The question is, what does your faith tell you? What do you believe in your heart? You are the one who has had the experience, all we can do is speculate.
You have had an incredible journey though, maybe God is giving you a sign that he is with you and he hears your prayers, inturn giving you a renewed strength to continue your life in him.

I specifically searched for a thread like this on these forums.

I believe in God, the Catholic Church, and everything else - without a doubt.

However, when I heard about stories like rosaries turning into gold, I was always skeptical.

But this week, I saw something with my very own eyes.

My friends (a married couple) had 2 tiny statuettes of Mary which were silvery-white. The wife then said, one night when I visited “Hey, this looks like it turned to gold”.

And then the husband pulled his out of his tiny pouch, and - to our shock - it was also gold.

Since then, we have been asking other people whether the original color was silver or gold, and, not only the 3 of us, but also the giver of the statuettes, as well as an entire prayer group, had seen the statuettes before (they are memorable because they look kind of like little tiny Oscars), and everyone knew them to be silvery-white.

But these ones are now clearly gold.

It’s not a result of paint rubbing off or anything like that, because the entire statuette, deep into the tiniest crevices, are all gold.

Now, my friend took it to a jeweller and was told they were not gold, which is fine - gold color, fine.

But the fact is – and I saw this with my own eyes, and so did many other people – the silvery-white statuettes are now gold colored.

In addition, the giver of the statuettes, who has one remaining in his possession, confirmed that the one he has is silvery-white (I want them to actually compare the 2 colors side by side, and see that with my own eyes as well).

The only reasonable non-supernatural explanation is that my friends dipped it in paint or some oxidizer or something, but they are not frauds like that.

Anyway, a third party reading this may feel what I have felt before – that this is kind of bogus, or wishful thinking, or something entirely explainable.

But I saw this change with my own eyes, and to me, it is definitely supernatural.

Whether it is from God Himself or from Satan, I don’t know, but we will be thinking about this for a long time, and trying to interpret from whom it originates, and what it might mean…

As someone who makes a lot of rosaries and someone who uses a lot of rosaries I will say that silver when tarnished is blackish and the black will rub off on your fingers as you pray your rosary.
There is some silver plated hardware that is silver over brass and if the silver was worn off or came off, it would be a dull goldish color.
If it’s a very old rosary I would think the original finish had worn off. Or if you used a silver polish or a silver dip to clean it, it could have taken the silver or silver color off in a uniform way.
A quick trip to a small town jeweler will solve this mystery. He can test a small area and tell you if it’s gold or brass or other material.

Good luck, it would be really wonderful if it had turned to gold!!

I agree, there’s a lot to this whole thing, the oils on one’s hands, all of this, it’s stunning to see it happen but we have to remember to be realistic. It does like you say, they tend to tarnish, I’ve spoken to a Catholic Store about this.

Maybe it does happen but I would 2nd a tone of skepticism.

That said, there may be a few cases where someone will say their whole rosary, not just the chains but the beads too do turn gold, I heard and saw this lady show this with a Rosary she had that had a real sentimental value, a sort of family heirloom.

So no one wants to rain on a parade.

God does simple things to encourage us. I’ve smelt a beautiful smell out of nowhere with no explanation as to where it came from. Even is the rosary isn’t actual gold, that doesn’t mean that it is not a miracle of God for encouragement. God uses subtle things that secularists and science will reject (sort of like speaking in parables).

Far be it from me to intrude on someone’s miracle but that chain was likely made from plated brass, and with wear the plating has worn off.
