The Church attracts all kinds. Choose your pew carefully. šŸ˜Ž

Hey OP, show her an article from Medusa Magazine and see if she can tell that it’s satire. The possibilities for study here are endless.

I would agree with you that a charitable and prayerful approach is best. But it is something that has to be dealt with directly. Perhaps this young woman has a little sister or close friends who may be influenced by her misguided thoughts. If the OP is in a position to have constructive discussions with her to help her change her views and correct her errors, it may help not only her, but some people around her as well.

my feeling is that you can’t engage in civil dialogue with a person who has an agrressive, whacked out, anti-catholic agenda

i wouldn’t engage

nothing but disaster can befall OP

Praying for you too, mate. :pray:t2:

So yeah, we are one of the first search results for many who are exploring the faith, and this is what they will come across.

I hope everyone is aware of this. Wasn’t there a thread recently what is worse murder or leading souls astray?

Being rude, unhelpful, demeaning and void of compassion can lead souls astray!

you don’t seem to understand

the workplace is not the place for OP to explain orthodox catholicism to a co-worker

one complaint by nut-job lady to HR & OP could potentially lose his/her job

contact outside the workplace could be considered fraterinization

leave this to the Holy Spirit

Wasn’t going to share this at first but I really need to vent on this one because it really enraged me.

I met a so called Catholic ā€œfeministā€ today. She is basically a modern day Collyridian because she actually told me that she believes that since women have ā€œhistoricallyā€ been ā€œoppressedā€ by the Church that we should begin worshiping Mary as a goddess in place of Jesus who should become secondary to her. I am in no way joking, this is literally what she told me her own words… I told her this was idolatry and directly goes against the first commandment but then she told me how the 10 Commandments were created to promote patriarchy or something… Honestly I tuned out for a lot of it because of how enraged I was at the blasphemy I was hearing…

According to her, Mary was a victim of rape by the Holy Spirit as well… I honestly just stopped talking to her after this because I just couldn’t… I really just couldn’t… What is wrong with people today? Really… what the h happened?
Been hearing this is some circles for 30-40 years. It’s straight from the ultra radical feminist playbook. It is scary if it is being preached to young girls. Only way to stop it is good parent influence and teaching. Sorry you had to deal with this ā€œloonā€.

I also said he can pray for her, instead he and others choose to ridicule her.
I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. John 13:34-35
She is still Catholic, misguided or not.

No, they’re ridiculing her fallacious ideas.

People’s identity is not found in their opinions or preferences.

Pray for her. Talk to her on break. Maybe eat lunch with her. Learn about her as a person. If she feels so strongly about Mary, and is open to prayer and truth, she will be led to Jesus. She has probably been in heated debates about this before so may be defensive and turned off by too aggressive an approach. So start small, meet her where she is at, lay your beliefs and the truth out slowly and charitably, encourage questions, answer them, and pray some more.

beautiful quotes

the person may be a cultural, baptized catholic

but what she has said to OP seems to be demonic & heretical…

I was refrencing the OP.

Yeah, there are some uncharitable ad hominems here

Even so, she is Catholic and we shouldn’t be calling her a lunatic for her misguided information.

Kindness and compassion is what is needed.

Thank you, I thought I was losing the plot. Venting is alright but when you see all the comments as a nice list, I think it doesn’t paint a particularly good Christian picture of us.

Why would she even bother talking to any of us? Real life or on the internet? We are our own worse enemy.

we can talk & post & debate all we want here on CAF

this happened at the workplace

there is a HUGE difference
