As a kid I was told that ‘Puritans’ were people that wanted to purify the Church of England from anything Catholic. I thought, ‘At what point is so much removed that they are no long Christian?’ I didn’t have an answer then but…. I now believe it is the rejection of who God is; the trinity. I am fascinated by this because the King Follet discourse is not doctrinal. It is not canonized scripture, and is therefore not doctrinal.

so when a prophet addresses general conference it’s just “speculation”? that seem to contradict D&C 68 (as well as a few other sections) the fact that this has been consistently taught from that point on (and still is) sure makes it seem an integral point.this one of the reasons why people don’t trust mormons to tell the truth about what they believe.

Yes, this is the comparison, which I said. The JS temple rite to the Mason rite, at that time. I have read more than this one site as reference. At one time I found documentation of both, from beginning to end, and they were 99% exact. Word for word, top to bottom.

Today, both have changed, and no, they cannot be compared today.

I posted some information about the mason rite and the temple rite but it was ignored by you. I hope that you will read them. At the time of JS, all would have noticed any similarities between the two and would have questioned JS about it. But it seems that no one was troubled by it, if the problem existed at that time.

These are not new accusations that you are throwing about. They have been around for years and are usually used by antis’ to score points. But they usually miss the basket.

This is not exactly true. If you would have been following what Gordon B. Hinckley said about the economy and the stockmarket and debt you would have known that the market was a gamble and debt could come to haunt the debtor. His warnings were very clear about this.

Also, with the increase in food prices, the mormons have always been told to have a year’s supply of food storage. This would certainly offset some of the economic problems that american’s are now facing.

I would say “find an answer”. Why not? To me this is a core need of my being to know why I exist. This is what religion MUST tell us. Or me anyway. No good answer to this, I’m outa there. It is what makes life worth living. How can you have a satisfying life without knowing why you are here???

I know how it works. Jesus died for me, I accept him as my Savior, accept the Catholic Church He founded and try to follow the teachings the Holy Spirit has revealed to Her as the Bride of Christ. Then I go to Heaven, experience the beatific vision, and get to enjoy complete unity with God throughout eternity. What more do I need to know to get me through this life and into the next? Now if the Book of Mormon were true, I might be willing to listen to Joseph Smith and his theories, but the Book of Mormon having been proven false to my satisfaction does not give me the confidence I would need to follow Joseph Smith as a prophet of God.

The original endowment was an EXACT copy of the contemporary Masonic rite. The timing of this occurrence is that Joseph Smith was initiated into Freemasonry, and within a couple of months had instituted this exact rite, layout of the temple and all, into Mormonism. Claiming it was a “revelation” from God.

The changes that have to do with the conversation, in that, you are telling me the temple rite today doesn’t match to the Freemason rite. And that is because they both have changed.

I never said anything about a cult. I never said that the changes indicated anything other than, they changed from the original that I was comparing.

I don’t believe the men who were Masons saw it as a “problem” why me, for those that knew. Certainly not a woman in all of the Mormon church knew the similarities. And as this was originally aimed at the sealings of multiple women to one man, why in the world would any man who was participating in this “spill the beans”?

The PROBLEM why me is that Mormons claim the Freemason rite is a revelation from God. Mormons may be all ok with that, Catholics most certainly are not. It is an invention, one of many, that JS & Co came up with.
