There is a pro-homosexual, anti-Christian video where I refuted the speaker’s mis-characterization of the Old Testament commandments. NOT ONLY was my response deleted, but apparently I have been blocked from commenting on that video at all.

I quickly showed how irrational the comments against the Bible were and gave a defense for the Bible. What could be a greater oxymoron than an atheist posting a video to give HIS interpretation of the Bible? I guess I hit a nerve.

OK? I get that you’re angry, but is there any point to this beyond venting about this unnamed YouTuber blocking you?

Otrrl you are being incredibly uncharitable to others in posting this

No, he isn’t. To the channel on YouTube perhaps, but not here.

Saying he hit a nerve is gloating and uncharitable. sorry, but it is.

and if an atheist is posting a video of his interpretation of the Bible, thats absolutely wonderful, that atheist is thinking, About God. The Holy Spirit is starting to move in that atheist.

Sooo…
Did you think you were going to “evangelize” some YouTuber who obviously is passionate enough to have his own channel?
Tread lightly man, that whole section of the world hates us enough already.

ouch. I didn’t expect to be punished for trying to correct the biased mockery of scripture in that youtube video.

The video seemed to me to be quite the contrary. I never heard of an atheist hermeneutic for interpreting scripture. The man described himself as a former fundamentalist-turned-atheist. It was my response, rather than his video speech, in which I tried to get him to think about God. The point of his talk was to get others to turn away from God and from the Bible.

The point of starting this topic was to relate the opposition that I experienced in trying to state the case for Christ. His point was that he was an expert on the Bible and that others should follow him away from God. Sorry if I wasn’t clear at the start.

Others who responded to that video claimed tersely the the New Testament had superceded the Old. I didn’t attempt to respond to such inaccurate opinions.

There are many ways of responding to mockery of Christianity. Humility is the key and allowing God to shine through.

If this person blocked you, he didn’t want to hear any opinion contrary to his. Sometimes there is another way of attacking it, other times, there isn’t, because they are just not interested. It becomes a big waste of time.

not taking a stand on one side of the issue or another, but consider yourself lucky they didn’t ban you from CAF. They will suspend or ban you here at a drop of a hat, especially over SSA issues and people in the church.

That’s why I stick to videos of people making tiny edible food.

And soft rock from the 70s.

Because it seems like you’re going on YouTube to pick fights and start arguments.
Maybe that’s not your motive, but it looks that way.
Why else would you be visiting that channel?

We are forumites here. Typically, topics have discussion value. To be honest, this feels a bit more like a self-congratulatory blog.

Getting worked up over what some weirdo says on YouTube, not to mention trying to “correct them” is at best a huge waste of your time.

He’s obviously already thought a lot about God, and is probably tired of evangelist rhetoric. Christian fundamentalists generally don’t turn into atheists on a dime: it’s often a long, painful journey for them. Then they get combox evangelists telling them they don’t really know what they’re talking about, which is insulting and often inaccurate.

Perhaps the source of your frustration is that you, like most of us, expect moderators on any given website to be fair. Yet, certain sites are moderated by individuals who have personal agendas and become quite militant about enforcing them.

The TOS on such sites are often unfairly and unjustly enforced by such moderators so that the personal biases of the moderators become reflected in the overall content of the sites. This is exacerbated by the fact that moderators are usually accountable to no one and have complete power to delete comments and ban users.

If a community flag system is in place, then the problem is exacerbated. The more moderators encourage particular biases, the more quick the community will become to flag comments not in keeping with those biases even if those comments do not truly violate the TOS. The flag system, far from its intended use, is abused and merely becomes a means of unleashing the vengeance of unfair moderators upon those who express ideas contrary to the collective, modetator approved agenda.

It’s really a viscous cycle and truly undermines any site’s claim that its TOS fosters fairness and civility. For there is never anything fair or civil about censorship carried out by militant moderators. And so, such sites rightly gain a reputation for unfairness on the net.

It’s more an example of Facebook’s algorithm overall. It’s designed to make users feel good, and part of that design involves shutting users out from viewpoints they dislike. It has the effect of creating echo chambers where people only hear voices they agree with.
