Mysterious Light That Shone from Priest’s Home Chapel Where Blessed Sacrament Was Kept

Just wanted to share this wonderful story.

In May of this year Bishop Loverde gave me permission to reserve the Blessed Sacrament in my chapel – The chapel is on the second floor of my home. The Eucharist had been reserved in the chapel less than a week when this picture was taken from the front porch of a neighbor’s home.

The person taking the picture was enamored by the beauty of the valley and decided to take a picture for her collection. When she aimed the camera towards the valley and tried to focus for the picture, she says the light coming from my house was so bright she said it was difficult trying to look into camera to view the picture to be taken (It was a cloudy day and I did not have a light on in the room/chapel where the light is coming from.) She took the picture and the image – the Star of David – is what came out on her digital camera. She did not know what to make of it. Not being Catholic, she had no understanding of the Sacrament of the Eucharist (Holy Communion).

Incidentally, I think the Priest in question has been dead these 16 months, so it might be a good idea to keep him in our prayers. And even more incidentally, I think he was a Priest at the parish that Tim Staples of Catholic Answers was received into the Church, although not at the same time.
 
Not saying it isnt a miracle or amazing, but a natural explanation of sunlight bouncing off a source onto the window isnt impossible
 
He said there was a window where the light was. Even on a cloudy day light can reflect off windows. Some people are a bit too willing to believe in miracles where a natural explanation exists.

To be fair, this is a beautiful picture considering that the Blessed Sacrament was reserved in that room. Whether or not the light is literally coming from Our Lord, it’s certainly not ridiculous to conclude that this photo depicts something very real, and that this depiction was permitted by God.

The photo certainly meant something to Father. Let’s not be so sophisticated that we can’t appreciate that.
 
Years ago on my first Irish mountain, I could see the village and the Church. I rise very early indeed; still dark.

I used to see a blue light near the church frequently, very odd. Mentioned it to the PP who mocked me… never did find out.

When I was first to knock Shrine, took a photo and there was a radiant light on it coming from the Lamb that was quite different from the spotlight on the Lamb. Showed ti many folk and no one could account for it. The Monsignor I used to visit said that many said the shrine is wrongly named as the people alongside the altar are all looking to the Lamb…went back a year after in identical light conditions and the photo was as in the flesh that time.

Some things we never rationalise… which is wonderful really…
 
It could very well be a form of private revelation to the person taking the picture, or to those to whom the picture was shown. In truth, I have pondered this possibility in our chapel as I adore our Lord, but as it is with the stigmata, or levitation in prayer (or anything relating to our will rather than the Lord’s), He has so far decreed that it shall not happen. Those who must have a sign for their salvation (St. Thomas) receive such a sign. Yet, blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed.

That is a lovely post. Thank you and yes indeed. The art is also in seeing and not seeking fame . As if we can only believe if we see something like that. Once talked to an old man of deep faith who had lost his wife. He was going to her grave day after day , lighting candles, seeking a sign… We spoke of faith and he settled.
 
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with thinking that it could either be a miracle, or simply allowed by God to help highlight the Real Presence. After all, everything that happens is allowed by God, and this can help someone’s faith. For all we know, it could have been miraculous too.
 
I’d love to see a picture of the house without the light. From what I can tell, this house appears to have two upper dormers much like my own home. The light appears to be showing between the two dormer windows where there is nothing but roof. If there is no glass there to cause the reflexion, what else could be the source for this light? Especially since as he said, there was no sunlight that particular day? Regardless, I feel that his thoughts on the Holy Eucharist were spot-on.
