This article gives a description of the priest.

"Witnesses describe mysterious priest at accident

…He was dark complected," she said. “He had an accent, but I’m not sure what nationality. He was probably 5’6” maybe. He was not heavy set, but he probably weighed close to 200 pounds. He had dark hair."

Burr-White and her husband held Katie’s head while rescue workers were trying to extricate her from the car.

Burr-White’s husband added that the priest was wearing black-rimmed glasses and resembled Walter Matthau."

A comment by Laura Mason below the article indicates the description sounds like Fr. Dandi. Though Fr. Dandi looks nothing like Walter Matthau to me, Fr. Dandi’s Facebook page shared a link to the story. Hmm.

Sweet:thumbsup:

Wonder if they remember his prayer…? That’s a cool story, for sure!

What do you mean he “vanished”? He disappeared right in front of everyone’s eyes and they* saw *him disappear?
Or he left, and no one saw him leave?

Could he not have been a priest from another town, on a road trip traveling by at that moment? Someone who is very humble and didn’t want to draw attention to himself or had to get somewhere?
The cops said “everything happened fast”.
He could have parked his car a quarter a mile away (as per The Mail) at the blocking point, since he was prevented from driving further, and gotten out and walked over to see if he could help in any way.
He was very nice to help.I hope they find him.
Thank goodness for those “jaws of life”–they have saved so many.

.
Does it matter? And that’s kind of the point, isn’t it? I’ve seen plenty of miracles in my life but none of them have included an actual vision or God speaking to me audibly. It’s plausible deniability and the Lord is an expert at that. Sometimes He wants to put His hand into action but He knows that being too direct would override our free will.

Pretty sneaky God…

Ask and you shall receive. This young lady cried out for prayer and was granted life. Our God is an awesome God…

Another account, i read, told that they all kneeled during the prayer…as the priest stood. They must have all felt the Spirit.

This story has a completely different description of the priest.

usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/08/07/angel-crash-missouri/2630227/
The silver-haired priest in his 50s or 60s in black pants, black shirt and black collar with visible white insert stepped forward from nowhere. It struck Reed as odd because the street was blocked off 2 miles from the scene and no one from the nearby communities recognized him.
Reed and the other emergency workers were on their knees. The priest of about medium build, maybe 6-feet-tall, stood above them.

kind of wish his description had matched that of Fulton Sheen so this could count as a miracle for his sainthood 😉

God DOES answer prayers!

I have seen many miracles in my life, and I can’t say if the story is true or not. But that is maybe not important. Something did happen and the girl was out of the wreck. However we all know how The RCC approach miracles, very carefully and with a “open mind”. Not knowing the area, I never been on US-soil except visiting your Embassy in Finland, so I don’t know if there are any roads that may be not visible from the accident site or any big boulder or large rock. maybe trees. Possibility one is that it was a genuine miracle, and let us pray it was. Possibility two is that the priest was, as someone did answer, just passing by and in the confusion with most likely to many fire-fighters and everyone focused on the victim they did miss where he went. He could have followed her in the ambulance and later on return to his car.

I so hope it is a miracle, and it was, maybe not a divine one, but a miracle we should thank God for.

I just reported this to Drudge linking the several media outlets reporting it. If Drudge picks it up, it may get even more attention. 👍

The witnesses on the scene apparently discount all these possibilities as plausible explanations if you read the article. If they find him, maybe he can explain. If they don’t - intro Twilight Zone music… :hypno: 🙂

It doesn’t sound like it was an earthly priest. Unless he was in a rush to get to Mass, I can’t imagine that he would leave the scene like that - much less make promises about the equipment and the victim’s final outcome. (And I’m wondering how often priests have their anointing oil with them - anyone know?)

But regardless of whether this was a local priest just passing through or whether he was of ‘another world’, it was certainly an act of God, and will be etched in the memory of the people on the scene. I can only imagine the journey that is in store for them - so exciting!

The article I read just described a “silver haired” man “50s or 60s.” That could describe quite a few priests, including Bishop Sheen. :o Was there another description? St. John Vianney had unique hair by his images:
