Mysterious priest performs miracle at site of Mercedes crash

It is very difficult to cordon off a large area in the open countryside, and easy to slip through such a cordon.

But the question is, why would a priest do that. He would not even be aware there was an accident or that somebody was in danger, Police cordon off areas for all sorts of reasons. Maybe a tank truck was leaking some poisonous chemicals and it would be extremely unwise to go inside a cordoned area under such circumstances.

My impression is that it was by someone related to the rescue team…more of a standard procedure for documenting and investigation. This kinda thing is always new and different, but they can learn from things they did right or wrong. Pictures are worth a thousand words. This was a drunk driver accident. Pictures from drunk driver tragedies goes a long way in deterring more of the same.

I don’t think that all miracles have to be ‘approved’ by the Church. Miraculous events happen all the time, every moment, somewhere. The Church uses them for saints, but there are too many God-incidences that point to one conclusion, even by the non-Catholics and non-Christians that witnessed it.

You are so right, miracles happen all the time. And as I did write, and many others, either way it was a miracle.

That is interesting and makes one wonder, doesn’t it? How can there be such varying descriptions? Methinks that the priest may never be identified, at least not on this side of life. 🙂

There was a medical helicopter hovering over the scene waiting to take the young woman from the car once she was extricated. This would probably have been noticeable to cars that were stopped and waiting to get through on the highway, I would think.
 
A great deal is varying in the accounts of this story. I would suggest that everyone read the most recently posted account in its entirety. It doesn’t sound nearly so miraculous.

Based on pictures, it seems the road was flanked by a cornfield and a short crop, maybe soybeans? That’s why it seemed like someone at a road barricade would have seen him. Unless he slipped into the corn. Here’s the view in one direction from the dailymail article in the OP:





The video in the story shows more views of the road. There really doesn’t appear to be much of a quick exit. There also appear to be quite a number of people in photos of the scene itself. At least eleven I think when I did a head count, plus whoever took the picture, of one angle earlier and not all of them were working on the car. I think the best way to determine this as NOT a miracle is if the priest is located. Otherwise, the plausibility of no one noticing the priest who just came up out of nowhere and used holy oil and had an accent disappearing either a quarter of a mile away or into a corn field. It seems reasonable that a stranger, accented priest in that context would be conspicuous…the witnesses seem to agree anyway.

How so? Nothing I’ve seen provides any more updates than we already know. Why would the workers claim the Priest said “your tools will now work” if he didn’t?
 
Another news outlet states that “dozens” of pictures had been taken and the priest is not seen in any of them. He was wearing full priest’s black clothing with a collar and cannot be seen anywhere. Plus he just happened to have sacramental oils with him.

Another news outlet has a composite sketch of him.

Who was it that said, 'For those who believe, no explanation is necessary; for those who do not believe, no explanation is possible."?

When belief in God interferes in one’s own selfish desires, it’s easy (and convenient) to doubt God. That doesn’t mean they won’t be rudely awakened some day, of course.

Whether this was a simple priest or a divine messenger, this is an awesome story. I’m sharing this with my wife as soon as she gets home.
 
I have no doubt it was her Guardian Angel manifested as a Priest.

It is just an amazing and inspiring story. Hopefully others with similar stories will come forward as we sometimes need the miraculous to remind us of God’s ongoing role in our lives.
