That’s the one…in my view there is not one reported occurrence (below the blue highlights) that even approaches miraculous. A fire company from another district arriving with the jaws of life is precisely what is supposed to happen…a person seeming to “vanish” during an intense emergency situation is hardly miraculous.
Add that to other accounts given that said the road was closed off for two miles when this one says 1/4 mile.
It’s very simple…the first crew lacked the proper equipment…the next crew arrived with the necessary tools…the lady was rescued and is recovering. Beyond that, it is people in search of a miracle which, as I recall, is specifically cautioned against in scripture.

Reportedly there was a resemblence of St John Vianney in the attending Priest. Aug 4th happens to be the 9th day of his 9 day Novena. There is also a Vianney High School not too far away in Kirkwood, MO.

I guess it is in how one reads the news article. I read it like this: a lady is near death trapped in a car. The emergency crews can’t get her out of the car. She asks the emergency personnel to join her in prayer. Shortly thereafter a priest shows up and anoints her, while telling the emergency people that she will be able to be rescued soon. The next crew arrives and rescues her. The priest is nowhere to be found - does not even show up in any photos of the accident scene. There are other details. But I suppose that those who don’t want to believe in any possible miracle will do so. You seem to be ignoring the parts of the story that you don’t want to deal with.

While I do agree with the date connection to St. John Vianney, St. John Vianney High School in Kirkwood, MO is about 105 miles away from Center, MO. A close relative attended school there and my son considered going there as well, so I know the school isn’t close to the accident site. But, that doesn’t negate the idea that St. John Vianney was involved in this lovely story and had an influence on the positive outcome.

I read likewise. I suppose even to the extent to view this as a minor miracle, as I’m certain all Catholic Priests will confirm the anointing indeed through the Lords grace saves. I would also assume this young woman indeed believed and continues with perhaps a deeper understanding of the supernatural reality today. I’d would love to know if she caught what the Father recited while anointing her.

To my knowledge, “pray out loud” is not a type of prayer; it seems that this young woman was asking her rescuers to pray for her, out loud.
Some people think it may be St. Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio). Others have pointed out that the composite sketch looks almost exactly like Fr. Emil Kapaun, Servant of God. Fr. Kapaun is from neighboring Kansas.
Whether it was a saint sent from heaven or an earthly priest, it was a miracle that the priest was there in the young woman’s hour of greatest need. God bless him, whomever and wherever he is.

I didn’t think the additional equipment arriving was the miricle but the peace he brought her. The messge to me is that we should pray and trust in God and not be afraid. The angels favorite saying is “fear not” after all. Maybe I’m reading too much into it.

I didn’t read the miracle as “the jaws of life coming” either. That equipment is used regularly so I assume that would be the procedure.
I read the miracle as the priest showing up…maybe in response to a prayer from the girl or maybe in respose from the mercy of God. Either way he showed up and annointed (which is what Catholic priests do) and then disappeared.
In June our parish had an ordination to priesthood of one of our deacons. Sometime before the homily of the bishop, a gentleman a few rows up got sick and was vomiting and was unable to walk or even sit up. Several priests who were around him grabbed the nearby oil and annointed him and many prayed over him and touched him. He was able to sit up. And when the paramedics arrived he was able to walk outside to be looked at. And it was all done very quietly and calmly.
Now, not as stunning as this car accident. I am sure the gentleman was suffering heat sickness (June in Arizona) or dehydration or another common cause that afflicts us humans. The amazing thing was he was annointed and prayed for and he was able to function rather rapidly where he was not able to before and before the paramedics arrived. It isn’t magic but God’s grace. Of course, this is just my take on it.

The priest could have very well thought to himself, “I did my job, now I need to get out of the way here so they can finish doing the rest of their jobs” and disappeared. That seems reasonable.
But then the following questions come to my mind…
***** How did he know she would be freed after he declared it so? Seems like a bold statement to make and then for it not to happen, possibly due to another freak accident of some kind, would have been in a way, cruel for him to declare such a thing and for giving false hope (of course a nearby fire district showing up with working tools was supposed to happen, but things don’t always go according to plan.)
***** Where is the priest now? I’m sure the media or the firefighters would like to know who he is and personally thank him for keeping the situation calm, but he has not come forward. How come?

When the Columbine mass shooting occurred,a story similar in nature to this one occurred.One of the last students to be rescued from the library,was a girl…She was off in a corner,alone when they found her in shock and near death.The fact that she was still breathing when they found her,in their opinion was a miracle in and of itself.However there is more to this story.As this girl was recovering from her injuries in the hospital,she requested her yearbook.She wanted to find the girl who held her in her arms ,comforting herwhile she lay injured.She claims this “girl” kept talking to her telling her to not close her eyes,keep breathing.Wellllll,she couldn’t find this student anywhere in here yearbook.The paramedics stated that she was completely alone when they found her.

I personally do not believe that he was an angel, as some claim. I think he is this generation’s Padre Pio (who could bi-locate). They can’t find him because he is hundreds or even thousands of miles away.
For the doubters, how do you explain everyone feeling a feeling of peace and calm? The professionals are used to this type of work. I kinda doubt that they needed someone there to “calm them down”.
