I actually began to read that and have gotten about half way through it. As with you, time restraints obtain. I’ll return to it, though, when I can.

I’m not sure it’s quite the thing, is it, to invite someone to pray about it, really. That implies that one does have a spiritual matter or a matter of a lack of faith to overcome in this regard and I think, as I have said, that’s taking the matter too far. What we are talking about, here, is a paraliturgical devotion that many churches do not even offer. So, I think it’s important to keep this in its proper perspective.
On that last point, I disagree… Personally I pray about… Everything… Then again, perhaps I so wholly lack that I just realize I need the Lord desperatly in every facite of my life.

I don’t say those who do attend adoration are foolish. I only say that I do not “get” what they are “getting”. Why does it make sense to them and not to me? This is the essence of my attempt at discovery, I suppose.
I loved the nun who taught our children in RE class. One thing all of the kids came out saying was (a gentle slap of the hand to the forehead) “It’s a mystery!” I don’t think there is a simple answer to your question…and I think that SOME of what you are preceiving as a questioning of your spirituality/committment to Christ is just some people’s way of trying to “show” you why it makes sense to them or to explain what they are “getting”. One other thought, it seem unfair that in your OP you specifically asked people not to get too sentimental…but that might be expressly what some people do “get” out of it.

Speaking only for myself, there are times when I get too caught up in the intellectual aspect of my faith…I know it in my head but don’t know it in my heart. I think it all comes back to “It’s a mystery!”. Perhaps (not implying there is any deficiency in you) one day you will find the answer to your question.

Precisely why I asked him if he was an engineer. It is difficult to transition from the head to the heart. In any event, through prayer will come his answer, or the connection that he seeks.
