N.O. mayor asks for help getting absentee vote out

Mayor Nagin (aka Willy Wonka) has done it again! In a speech in Houston, he told the audience that his mayoral contenders don’t “look like us”. In a time when he should be acting like a statesman, he is pandering. New Orleans is decimated. Nagin was originally elected with support from the white community. I cannot conceive of a white politician uttering the phrase “they don’t look like us” without catching nine kinds of “holy hell”. Racial pandering at a time when the city needs to pull together leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth. What a disappointment this man is.

This is only one example of a racial double standard that is active in this country. Like every other use of prejudice is repugnant.

But then, remember Marion Berry. Re-elected to be mayor of Washington DC. AFTER having been released from prison due to illegal drug involvment? He was just in the news again for some criminal activity.

I suppose if a people choose to vote for criminals and character incompetents, then they deserve just what they get.
