I heard he linked large sodas to the killing of baby seals.

The majority of climate scientists acknowledge climate change.

Climate change isn’t really my area- nor am I interested in doing the research- but I trust the experts and they seem to agree.

And yes, I know there are a few outlying scientists with different opinions, but I am a “middle of the road” type of guy when it comes to science. I trust consensus.

Let’s try this with different terms:
The majority of voodoo doctors acknowledge voodoo.

Remember the new Ice Age predicted by the consensus of scientists in the 1970’s? I still have parkas with the price tag attached…

If one model is correct that is what we’ll get. Shut down the Gulf Stream with an inflow of cold, fresh water from the melting ice fields and the whole thing reverses.

Climate change is a fact. What is unknown is whether we have anything to do with it. My opinion, if we are having any impact, it is minor and not worth getting crazy about. Instead we should be planning for how to cope with rising sea levels.

Years ago I did a dig along the Clarion River where we found evidence of permafrost carbon dated at 14,000 years a the top and 23,000 years where we stopped digging.

Here’s another Catholic speaking out on climate change.

Pope Benedict XVI on climate change: a credible response is needed
Pope Benedict XVI appealed for the success of a UN climate change conference that is opening tomorrow in Durban, South Africa. Speaking to the faithful gathered in St Peter’s Square for the Sunday Angelus prayer, Pope Benedict expressed the hope that “all members of the international community might reach agreement on a responsible, credible response,” to the phenomenon of climate change, which he described as “complex” and “disturbing”.
Pope urges international agreement on climate change
VATICAN CITY (CNS) – Pope Benedict XVI urged international leaders to reach a credible agreement on climate change, keeping in mind the needs of the poor and of future generations.
The pope made the remarks at his noon blessing at the Vatican Nov. 27, the day before officials from 194 countries were to begin meeting in Durban, South Africa, to discuss the next steps in reducing greenhouse gases and stopping global temperatures from rising.
“I hope that all members of the international community can agree on a responsible, credible and supportive response to this worrisome and complex phenomenon, keeping in mind the needs of the poorest populations and of future generations,” the pope said.

I’m a liberal Democrat. However, I think if Gov. Cuomo and Mayor Bloomberg are so worried about the effects of climate change (which I agree is a legitimate concern), then let some action be taken after the cleanup to rebuild the infrastructure of the NYC subway system, which is 112 years old. The subway cars have been revamped, but not the tunnels. I wonder what would have happened to NYC if Sandy had been a category 3, 4, or 5 hurricane? I realize such an immense project takes a lot of money, but it always seems we have money from the federal government in times of disaster or war, but rarely for the purpose of prevention. I recall the NYC blackout a few years ago, and the talk at the time was that the electrical grids should be updated to prevent future occurrences. What has been done to insure the safety of the city and state since then? To my knowledge, nothing! We are in general a society that does relatively little until tragedy strikes, and, shortly afterward, we forget about the event and continue with our daily lives. I’m disgusted with both the Democrats and Republicans on the local, state, and federal levels. Rant over…
