Naked pictures to spouse

In my opinion, it really depends on the pictures and what your husband does with them. Some men are given to masturbation and other forms of sexual impurity so if this was the case it would definately be sinful. If you are simply encouraging him to hurry home, then it probably isn’t a sin. However, I think in both cases it is unwise, since the pictures could accidentally be seen by others and in the most unfortunate manner. My step-father and his coworkers thought it was funny so send photos of genitalia to each other. (Apparantly this is what construction workers do on their union-mandated breaks) My stepfather didn’t realize that the pictures were being saved on his account. Meanwhile, my sister went into the Tmobile store to update her phone and the sales guy pulled up the family plan. She noticed there were photos in the folder and …click… You get the idea.
Yes, that’s the kind of stuff I’m talking about! 😉

Just curious… what are yall’s thoughts on sending naked or half naked pictures of yourself to your spouse while you are apart for an extended period of time?

I’m assuming this would definitely not fall under the category of pornography, since it’s the person you’re married to and love/are committed to for life, and not some random stranger whom you don’t even care about.
First, I do think it’s possible for married people of have pornographic pictures of each other because of how they are used. But I don’t think it’s an across the board thing.

What would be the purpose of such pictures? I think the morality here has a lot to do with what could happen. What if the time and distance is too much and he was tempeted to sin? What if someone else found them or he lost them. And you wrote something about sending pictures. Depending on how nude you are I would be very careful about sending any pictures like that.

Moral questions address how people could be hurt by one’s own actions/words or by someone else’s actions/words. That’s why I asked the question in the beginning: What would be the purpose of such pictures? And how could you or your relationship be hurt by them? Having them fall into the wrong hands or out of your control would be very hurtful.

You and I have disagreed on beach attire in the past but don’t I think your husband having a picture of you in a bikini is a big deal so I don’t think you have to be nude. I still wouldn’t send them by email.

We can forget what a person looks like or sounds like a lot faster than we think we might and it can make the missing of the other person more difficult. But I think that if he had pictures of you, or the two of you together, his memory could fill in the blanks.

Lol, he doesn’t.

And besides, he’s currently in Officer Training for the Air Force. It’s like a boot camp except harder. Even if he did struggle with impurity, he wouldn’t have the energy, time, or privacy to do anything about it.
That changes things; however, I would, if I was in this situation, not send the photos, just to be cautious.

I think it’s a bad idea, for the reasons given by other posters.

Just hypothetically…if your husband did have such a problem, do you think you’d definitely know about it?

And even if he doesn’t right now, perhaps some naked images of you are just the catalyst he needs, while on deployment, to begin to struggle with such things.

What would be purpose be?

In my mind, doing such a thing would only incite lust, or cause the other person to view you as an object, as you present yourself as one.

If it’s simply a picture, or reminder, why not a regular photograph?

What would be the purpose of such pictures?
To be fun, romantic, and give him a reason to want to hurry home. And to please him. 🙂
What if the time and distance is too much and he was tempeted to sin?
Given the setting he’s in right now (and the type of person he is), I highly doubt that would happen honestly.
What if someone else found them or he lost them. And you wrote something about sending pictures.
That would suck. However, I don’t see how anyone else would see them if I’m am emailing them directly to him. No one else has access into his email account.

Thanks for the advice/thoughts! I hope my answers to your questions shed some light!

You would be shocked at who can gain access to what and how much information is on the internet. About you. That you have voluntarily put out there.

I really wish more people would consider this. Please be safe.

Send him a pretty picture of you at the beach, espeecially if he took it. It will have wonderful memories attached to it then, too. 🙂

ETA: I should have said it explicitly, but the questions were for you (and anyone facing a moral dilemma), not for me, so I’m not going to judge your intent one way or the other.

Hi Aggies. I responded to this question in my post to Bruised Reed.

When you say lust, are we referring to the actual SIN of lust? AKA - the intent to use another person as a mere object for our own personal, selfish gratification? I think if the sight of your spouse undressed made you want to use them and objectify them, then you shouldn’t even be having sex in the first place, considering you have to be undressed for that to happen.

He’s got plenty of those as well. 👍

At first glance (no pun intended) this seems harmless between spouses. However, it is questionable. Sexuality is something intimate between 2 persons, not something capable of being transmitted over the internet. Viewing erotic pictures of one’s wife could still be pornographic, with no ethical way of resolving the stimulation.

For that reason; and because the internet is not secure, don’t kid yourself that it is, I would avoid totally nude type pictures.

My bold.

I like the way you worded this. It’s the other side of the dilemma.

Congrats on for your husband and good luck with his training.

Coming from someone who was in Basic Training…I agree that the Training he will be going through will be grueling…putting it lightly.
When I was at BMT…my libido died. Literally. I had no lustful thoughts whatsoever while I was there…I was like someone totally zapped all the hormones I had within my body. Even when my husband sent me a letter that was, lets say, less then wholesome…I felt nothing. No desire, no lust, nothing stirred.
It was almost frightening.

Certainly I can’t speak for everyone…but I can concur with this and this is one lady who enjoys her husband.

I’ve given my husband picture of myself…while not naked…they weren’t, in anyway, modest. We had been apart from each other 8 months. He loved them.

Personally…I wouldn’t feel comfortable sending my husband naked pictures of myself. It’s too vulnerable of a feeling for me. I’d feel so exposed. Even if my husband locked them up in a safe and buried them underground so that no one would get to them…it would still be such a vulnerable feeling.

But that wouldn’t stop me from sending sexier pictures of myself…while still covered. Unless he declined them.

Is it a near occasion of sin? Yes it is…but you know your husband better then we do, in that regard.

I wouldn’t do it based on the vulnerability factor.

Yeah, he’s pretty much told me the same thing… that he doesn’t even THINK like that while he’s there.

It makes me sad… 😦

I think even having this discussion in a public forum is potentially dangerous. There is a lot of info in this thread and on this board. I’ll leave it at that.

I know I am repeating what others have said, but I’ll put in my two cents. I think this would be a bad idea for two reasons:
  1. The photos could be a tempation to impurity for the spouse who receives them. I know you said that this would not be an issue with your husband. But even if you are sure he will not give into the temptation, why provide the temptation? Why put him to the test?
  2. Once a photo goes out on the internet, even through e-mail, there is a chance that someone else, besides you or your husband, may get access to the photo. For one thing, some government official could potentially have access to it through e-mail monitoring. Second, someone could hack into your husband’s e-mail account, or your e-mail account, possibly even without your knowledge or his knowledge. Third, someone could happen to see the picture on his screen while he is looking at it. Maybe someone walks up behind him and he doesn’t hear them.
I don’t think that it is necessarily morally wrong for someone to send this kind of pictures to his or her spouse – though it could be morally wrong if it is likely to lead the spouse to sin. But I think that from a prudential standpoint, it is just not a good idea.

A very good point…Groo…something that the OPs husband may learn at Officer Training about what to make public to strangers and what to keep silent on public forums…not just in threads but on the board in general.

To the OP,

Your husband might learn about the expectations of the pictures from someone who reads this forum and recognizes names and pictures.

It would be a good idea when you are together to discuss having nude photos of each other. He may not think his e-mail is as secure as you feel it is. Never send such photos to his military account.

As for mailing a photo printed from your home printer, he may not feel it is safe from others. Neither you nor your sweet husband would want one of his classmates to see your photo.

Separations are very stressful, but homecomings are wonderful. You will find a way to keep romance going while apart and yourself safe from the dangers of an unexpected viewing by others. (Meaning, please don’t send a nude photo across a phone or internet.)

Thank you for being a military family.

no. I work in computers and internet - the photos will ‘leak’ out onto the net.

no. deleting it will not necessarily remove it, just make it a little harder to find.

no. it can lead to mortal sin - impurity with oneself.

recent article you might find interesting:

That is but one website of what the article says are many revenge-type sites on the net.

God bless you.

Thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut, Bee.

Just curious as to what you mean by “it may lead to impurity with myself?”

I found that to be kind of an odd statement.

As for the revenge thing, I’m not sure what to say to that. If I couldn’t trust my own husband not to purposely publicize intimate pictures of me, then I shouldn’t be married to him at all. Why be married to someone you don’t even trust?

Thanks for the warnings regarding dangers of computer hacking though.

Yes, I would definitely know. Mainly because he would talk to me about it.
I imagine many women who have husbands secretly struggling with impurity feel the same way. I’m not saying impurity is the norm, nor that it’s likely that your husband is struggling this way, but I am saying that if he were, it’s naive to think he’d want to talk to you about it, no matter how open and honest your relationship is otherwise.

I’m sure you’ve seen the countless threads here about wives finding out about their husbands’ impurity struggles and being completely shocked. Why give your husband the potential seed for such a terrible problem?
