You didn’t really ask for opinions about your choices – but this is the internet, so I’m offering one anyway. (wink)

It seems to me that you need to discern whether God is calling you to married life or to some aspect of the religious life – that is really the question (as I see it) – not whether you find the perfectly orthodox Catholic woman online.

The priesthood, or consecrated religious life, shouldn’t be your fallback because you can’t come up with the woman who matches your requirements. And likewise, marriage is a true vocation, not something you seek because you’re financially challenged in entering religious life.

You know, a woman could fill out the form and have all the right things checked – and not be telling the truth – or you could find that exact match and the chemistry not be there.

I’ve never been impressed with the offerings on the dating sites – truth is too hard to come by on the internet (and I have the battle scars to prove that statement).

If God wants you to be a priest or other religious, money will NOT be an object. If God wants you to be married, He’ll have His hand in that, too. Please spend some prayerful time – seek the guidance of an advisor you trust – and be sure of what you’re really looking for.

damooster, I used to ask this same question, but wondering where all the Catholic guys were! I didn’t belong to any online dating websites, but I was very active in church, Right-To-Life committees and still found it difficult to find any young men who followed ALL the Catholic Church teachings. I considered entering the convent, but my heart was always drawn to children and I wished for a family…so I prayed, quite simply for a good Catholic guy. My prayers were answered, not in my time, but in God’s. I could never have found my husband on my own. We were paired together in a wedding and began dating a day later and were married a year later. Now, 11 years and 6 children later, I realize how important it is to “Let go, and Let God.” It was hard then to have patience, but Our Lord had someone special “picked” for me and He sent him to me in His own good time!

Sorry, this probably does not help, and I am sorry you are going through this. You sound like a very kind and charitable person and I will say a prayer for you at Mass in the morning.

This does beg the question you know.

Or in Canada, Catholic Schools are funded by the government in Ontario. But not so in other provinces.

Ahh, did not realize that.
Perhaps it is like some countries in Europe in this sense.

My (very limited) past experience with secular websites is that a lot of the women stated
that they were “spiritual, not religious”. This, I imagine, covers everything from just lighting a scented candle on Sunday morning right up to being a fully paid-up member of the Cosmic
International Circle of Crystal Healing Chanters!
The point being, websites are a deeply flawed way of meeting people.
As one poster stated, you really have to get out there (and you are, which is great) and get active in Faith.
