Glory to Jesus Christ!
I would have to say introducing “altar girls” and EMHCs, in addition to adopting praise and worship music with all the acoutraments that come with it. One could also argue that the liturgy being watered down and gutted the way it was (lack of incense, more “active laity” in the sense of abandoning the order of Lector and Subdeacon, etc.).
That is what I have noticed personally in going to the “new Mass.”
In Christ,
Andrew
Since when do Protestant churches, at least of the evangelical variety, have altar girls OR boys!!! Or the “Eucharist?” Or “liturgy?”
The mainlines (which are getting smaller every year) are getting away from these traditions, and the evangelical/Pentecostal/fundamental Protestant churches, which include the majority of Protestants in the U.S., never had these things.
Keep in mind that the mainline churches–the ones who used liturgy and other traditions that they borrowed from the Catholic Church–are the churches that first began teaching (back in the 1960s and 1970s) such sinfjul teachings as “homosexual pastors,” “homosexual marriages,” “the myth of the resurrection,” “hell does not exist,” “the devil does not exist,” “Jesus was just a good man”, “abortion rights,” etc.
The evangelical/Pentecostal/fundamental churches which have rejected liturgy and the “traditions of man” have, for the most part, not fallen into error when it comes to the basic doctrines of Christianity (Deity of Christ, Trinity, Heaven and Hell, resurrection, etc.).
I’m not saying we should jettison liturgy and tradition. What I’m saying is that it is no guarantee of heresy-free churches.
