The Lord of the Rings trilogy is a beautiful experience with Catholic symbols and themes.

A lot of people mentioned shawshank redemption. I have to agree. I have always loved the escape scene.
The godfather

Heat (with de Niro and Pacino)

Instead of the guys propping up Bernie to dance or go water skiing he gets him by some voodoo (which kind of eliminates the dumb humor from the first one).

Karate Kid (not the remake or the sequels)
This Is Spinal Tap
Three Amigos! (I’m not kidding)
 
My list and in no particular order:
  1. The Godfather
  2. The King’s Speech
  3. The Godfather II
  4. Conan the Barbarian
  5. Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

Hmm. Interesting.

Another old sequel I just learned about recently was Ghostbusters 2. I kind of wish I stayed blissfully ignorant for that one.

Personally, I LOVE dumb movies – The Princess Diaries 1 & 2, Legally Blonde, The Lego Movies, Oscar (one of the best dumb movies EVER!)… but they’ll never be on any serious list of best movies ever made.

To be honest, my work is so intense and demanding, that most of the time a good laugh is what I need when watching a movie. In truth, I rarely ever turn to the “best movies ever made” for entertainment, but can be caught time after time watching the dumb ones 😊

The Court Jester and Wonder Man would seem to fit that need perfectly. Well… except they aren’t “dumb” they were brilliantly scripted.
