Being ever mindful that this is LENT, Mama had to order desserts. Tiramisu (2), ingredients for Strawberry Shortcake (3), Cannoli (2). All are my weaknesses. My tiramisu is going in the freezer. She can eat hers whenever she wants. She’s 86, after all.
Since I was the one who placed the order for delivery (thank God, before the worst of the rain hits - 4 days of rain), I told her the sugar she wanted ordered is organic. We will NOT order sugar made by companies that use bone char. I pressed the point by saying, “Think of knowing that the sugar you were eating was being made or colored by Baby Zoe’s or Sunshine’s bones.” She said, “I’d throw up.” Once I explained about the bone char, she agreed that she will switch to organic sugar too. (Makes it so much easier when we’re on the same page.)
The order arrived sooner than I expected and yes, I ate one piece of cannoli. I think of Fr Benedict Groeschel every time I eat cannoli. God love him.
I also had water. But I’m going to be naughty and have a glass of fruit punch. It’s been so long.
