Name the worst movies ever made

Of the ones i’ve seen, it’s a tossup between Date Movie and Eraserhead. Probably have to go with Date Movie because at least Eraserhead attempted to be interesting (though it failed miserably).

However i’m pretty sure the worst movies ever made are movies I have not seen because I have no reason to see them. A few examples would be Caligula, Antichrist, Salo, etc. Or it could very possibly be this: imdb.com/title/tt0101420/, which upon reading the plot synopsis I wanted to hit the director over the head with a very big shovel.

I’m not really sure what is the worst movie I’ve ever seen like I stated they would put me to sleep or I just couldn’t get “into” them. A movie like “Stepbrothers” is supposed to be entertaining but it was more crude than funny (just my opinion)

Don’t worry if you haven’t seen a movie in years. Although, there are some entertaining movies out there (heh heh)

These may not be the worst movies of all time, but here is a partial sampling of some movies that I have actually seen which I dislike:
  1. Red Dawn, the first (and only) movie I ever walked out of the theater on – about half an hour into it when the besieged high school kids started butchering a deer or some other animal. I told my boyfriend at the time I just couldn’t watch it, I was going to go shopping at the mall for a while until it was over!
  2. Blade Runner, which I found incredibly depressing seeing as how it was set in an overcrowded metropolis where it was constantly raining 😦 My husband, however, loves the soundtrack (by Vangelis of “Chariots of Fire” fame) and actually the music from it has grown on me a bit, but I still don’t care for the movie itself.
  3. Howard the Duck. Stupidest Idea For a Superhero. Ever.
  4. Category 6: Day of Destruction and its even more preposterous sequel, Category 7: The End of the World. Cheap made for TV ripoffs of The Day After Tomorrow, with even LESS plausible meteorological scenarios than that of global warming launching a new ice age (the first movie ends with a tornado, hurricane, AND blizzard all converging on Chicago!)
  5. Rock Island Trail, an obscure early 50’s Western about the early days of the Rock Island Railroad. My brother and his friends love it because they’re train buffs. However, I have a hard time getting over the way northern Illinois is depicted with desert buttes and mountain peaks in the background :rolleyes:
  6. Pulp Fiction. Just too darn confusing not to mention violent :eek:
  7. Ernest Goes to Camp. No explanation needed.

First off, if one is a fan of the Coen Brothers and can appreciate their style of story telling like with films such as No Country For Old Men, The Ladykillers (2004), Fargo, and Blood Simple for example, then you have a better chance of liking this movie.

It’s basically a black comedy about Frances McDormand’s character along with the goofy likeable Brad Pitt, trying to obtain money from a CIA disc they found at the gym they work in. Along the way you have the oddball womanizing George Clooney who’s marriage with his wife is a sham, and who’s inserted in the story for no real reason other than to get some laughs and cause a bit of chaos with the direct plot. John Malkovich who is the ex CIA agent who lost the disc, is a self absorbed, high tempered nut who is now fuming because of this and out to exact revenge. Then of course there’s the owner of the gym who is in love with McDormand’s character and another person who’s not really a huge part of the plot but there to add to the seemingly complexity of a simple sounding story.

When all is said and done though, the ending pretty much is solved with the beginning and is quite funny how this is all achieved with that black comedic style of course.
 
I heard the mention of MST3K! Oh em gee, my dad and I used to watch that! 🍿 And we’d snark the movie along with them. 😃

I just thought of another bad movie. The Family Guy movie. >.> The more I watch of them, the more I get annoyed …
 
Hmmm…the worst films i can think of are:

ALL of the Harry Potter ones
Twilight
Wallace and Grommit - The Curse of the Were Rabbit
Sex and the City
Pride and Prejudice (Colin Firth is theonly Mr. Darcy :mad: )

I can’t think of anymore at the moment…oh yeah, Wall-E <<<i mean, what was with it!!!

Cider House Rules was absolutely disgusting. I couldn’t get through more than half of it, but could see exactly where it was leading up to. Toby McGuire plays a doctor’s apprentice who must come of age by learning that the most compassionate choice is to give up his personal preferences and learn to perform abortions. I think there was a euthanasia scene in there as well, on a sick mother, in which the doctor gives her an overdose of morphine. Absolutely repulsive, and such a shame, too, b/c T. McGuire had been a favorite.

Oh come on! Wall-E was incredible! (It’s also very sweet. >w<) My friend is a loyal Pixar watcher and she was obsessed with it for months both before and right after it came out.

P.S.

What’s wrong with Harry Potter? I know the teen actors there are getting overrated but the last one I watched wasn’t so bad. I didn’t know wizard fight scenes were so intense. o.o
 
Obviously the answers on this thread come down to personal preference. For me, I only go to the movies if I think there is a high likelihood I will actually enjoy the particular movie. If I don’t find the topic or genre of the movie interesting, I won’t see that movie - which limits the number of movies I have seen that I would label as being truly bad. Having said that, one of the most boring movies I’ve ever seen was ‘Broadcast News’. On the other hand, several of the movies mentioned on this thread that I have actually found quite enjoyable - ‘U-571’, ‘Pulp Fiction’, and ‘Moulin Rouge’.
 
Speaking of MST3K, we watched SST Death Flight, then HAD to see Airplane, the movie that spoofed all such disaster films.

While I found most of Airplane still funny, I did not recall there being so much nudity and so many dirty jokes—with a PG rating. What are these people thinking?

i hope Catholics will remember not to support these kinds of movies …

but then a true Catholic would hardly need such a reminder, right??

still… i had no clue what this stupid movie was about before your review… well, i had heard somehting similar before… but still, who could tell by the title ??? and i doubt when they were promoting it that they mentioned much about abortion ’ cause they know a lot of pepole are against abortion…:mad: more than half the population…

i wonder how it did @ the box office??? hopefully lousy… :mad:
 
Cider House Rules was in my opinion generally a good movie, regardless of my personal opinions about abortion.

Aside from the fact there was an element that was pro choice, but anyone who actually did see the film may also recall that Charlize Theron’s character has an abortion and then her husband is injured in the war so she loses her chance to ever have children.

And it opened debate with the people I watched it with, as the girl that Tobey McGuire’s character performs on was actally raped and pregnant by her father.

I don’t think you can count a movie as ‘the wost made’ if you haven’t seen it, that is judgemental

Pro ABORTION. Call it what it is. The war for souls will be lost when we give up the battle for meaning.

The cause of pregnancy can never be an excuse to perform an abortion.

I know what words I want to use and do so intentionally so please do not tell me what I should say or should call it.

I don’t believe pro choice is simply pro abortion so I would not call it that. Choice is part of the gift of free will so I cannot take that from somebody, I can only provide them with all the information that can help them make the right decision.

I know this is a Catholic forum and what the general opinion is, but there are sometimes non Catholic visitors and not everyone has the same opinion - I respect that people have that right granted to them

But that wasn’t even the point of my previous post, it was about the movie and the characters etc, this is a forum about movies!!!

Just because I watched and enjoyed this movie as a whole does not mean that I am pro abortion - that’s like saying I am pro war because I like saving private ryan!

Good Post. Artists explore life. The work tends to smell if they’re pushing
something. But a great work of art doesn’t do that.

Just because I watched and enjoyed this movie as a whole does not mean that I am pro abortion - that’s like saying I am pro war because I like saving private ryan!

Good Post.
Artists explore life. If they use the craft for propaganda, it tends to not work well.
A master’s thesis can be written on this sort of thing. For the artist I think there is always
something deeper under the surface. The artist has to make way for it I think.
Anyway, good post, bextah. I get it.
