*Not sure if this was brought up…but, The Mist. Horrible. Not scary in the least!

Hills Have Eyes…and it was very twisted …sick…I did NOT expect it to be like that, did not finish watching it.

Prom Night…another one, didn’t get past like the first 15 minutes. Terrible! But, dh and I weren’t expecting much.

Three Can Play That Game, with Vivica Fox…I loved Two Can Play That Game, that was funny…but this was horrible…again, couldn’t get past the first 15 minutes.

The Lakehouse…I have never ever finished this movie, and have seen the beginning and parts of it several times…just can’t figure it out. Not the worst movie I’ve seen, but it’s up there.*

what is that about…?

(I’m movie-illiterate… hate modern movies because of sex & violence… )

do you think there are ANY good (as in Christian) movies made these days?? 😦
Yes, maybe not with Christianity as the theme…but, there are many that are good, that are not filled with violence and sex. I agree…it’s like every movie has something thrown in that makes it sexualized. We rented Yes Man as a family…ok…thinking this would be fine. Oh my gosh, MOST of the movie was fine, but there was this one part that was totally unncessary and disgusting…sexualized. I just don’t get movie producers as to why so much sexual innuendo is in today’s movies. 😦 Movies that are supposed to be suitable for teens. 🤷

It depends on what you mean by “Christian”. I have seen a lot of good movies that, although they don’t beat you over the head with the Gospel, they certainly embody an understanding of death, resurrection and ascension. 🙂

I was going to give an example, but I don’t want to derail the thread.

As far as the world’s worst movies go, Lord of War with Nicholas Cage has got to be the most boring movie I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I was amazed to see that it won an award for excellence in film-making. I turned it off in the middle and went to bed, because it was literally putting me to sleep. (I am not very easy to bore - I have stared down my cat, and I have watched paint dry.)

Hmm… there are so many candidates for the Worst Movie Every Made. Here are my nominees (all of which I have had the misfortune to see):

Ishtar
The Dirty Dozen
Howard the Duck
The Postman (starring Kevin Costner–this makes Waterworld look like a masterpiece)
Casino Royale (starring Woody Allen)
Barbarella
The Marine (the one starring John Cena the wrestler)
Nice Dreams (Cheech and Chong’s third movie)
The Three Amigos
The Conqueror (starring John Wayne as Ghengis Khan)

My Pick: Howard the Duck

Edward D. Wood Jr.

The Plan Nine from Outer Space plot happens in the 1950’s by aliens who plant electrodes into the pituitary glands of the recent dead so as to control them like automatons. Unfortunately, the human anatomy causes them to do things that are not directly commanded by the alien’s such as seeking out and killing the living.
You just have to see this one to appreciate it.

Ed Wood was voted the worst movie director of all time by Hollywood back in the 1980’s.
Bad acting, bad sets, bad script, and cheep special effects (i.e. painted paper plates suspended from a fishing pole that hovers over a model of Hollywood).
You forgot to mention that Bela Lugosi was the star…only he died before it was hardly started. So they cut in random bits of home movies with Lugosi in them, along with shots of:eek: Ed Wood’s:eek: girl friend’s :eek:chiropracter wandering around in a long black cape…
There is one section with Bela Lugosi walking up to the door of his own house…They play it over and over and over and over…

(:pI actually own this one:o).

Do not go see the new Disney flick “G-Force”. Even if your children BEG you to take them.

You will lose IQ points by the dozen.

Not even the cool 3-D effects (and they are pretty cool) can save this turkey…er, RODENT, of a movie.

(of course, if you are dragged to this film against your will…do what I did: plug your iPod in your ears and close your eyes behind the 3D glasses, and no one will know you are taking a power nap!)

My First and foremost ever bad movie was one called “Open Water” or something like that. It was about two divers that were left behind in the ocean after a dive trip with a large group. The movie showed them floating around getting bit by sharks, and throwing up and whining about being complete idiots and the likes. Finally everyone dies and the movie ends. So I guess every cloud does have a silver lining after all.
My second worst ever bad movie was another one that had water as a theme, I think it was called Dark Water and was about some woman renting an apartment and some little girl that was killed and thrown into a water tower or something. and the apartment being haunted and dirty water like ruining this woman’s life. My goodness gracious I was besides myself, So I just punched the guy setting next to me and ran out like a scared little girl.
My third worst was Public Enemy’s not because it was so bad but because I expected much more considering the leading actors.
0 thumbs up

Airport '77 is probably one of the most entertaining bad movies ever made.

Their big plan to save the airplane is to raise it out of the water with balloons. High-tech balloons, I guess. Which yielded the classic dramatic line, “Increase the pressure!”

That, Jimmy Stewart, and the general cheesiness all make it worth watching. Certainly not for the plot, though.

Sorry it took so long to reply

The Unforgiven is a western, won an Oscar for Best Picture. Staring Clint Eastwood and Gene Hackman. I thought a western with Clint Eastwood would have to be worth trying but when he teams up with Hackman the violence goes off the charts. The entire story was pointless and stupid. Eastwood, a gunfighter turned farmer with 2 children under 10 hears a rumor about a reward offered for revenge on a man who maimed a prostitute. He leaves his kids to tend the farm and goes off to collect the reward which was only a rumor. I should have walked out but I kept thinking it would get better.

Starship Troopers is based sometime in the future when Earth is at war with the bug planet. The script is just the worst! For example, the new military recruits go to basic training where they war game with laser guns that are so powerful one of the cadets gets his head cut “clean off” with the weapon during a training accident. However, when they go into battle, they are outfitted with 20 century M16s.

Another hilarious part (and it’s not meant to be funny) is how the bugs shoot down Earth’s high tech battle cruiser armada. The bugs use giant beetles that hoist their butts up into aiming position and shoot hot balls of plasma out of their rear-ends. These go up into orbit and decimate the Earth fleet.
thanks, i needed a good laugh… 😃

that 1st one sounds sorta like Westworld… humans with computers inside… not such a bad idea for a movie but someone needed to put some kind of moral message into the darn thing… otherwise, seems a movie just for teenagers… and i wouldn’t want my teenager to see it because its too violent… etc… again, They should have consulted me…
😃 … or just about anyone with an IQ over 60… What a waste of talent!!! don’t know why those actors took those parts… :hmmm:

too weird for me…

Real life is far more interesting… since God created us in His image… and we have free will and … its just interesting the choices some of us make / don’t make… etc…

that’s weird… Hollywood seems to into ANYTHING BUT boring… after all, they want to make $$… so they seem to put Not Boring above all other things, including decency… of course…

ummm… you sure all that paint-drying-watching didn’t do something to you? 😃

just wondering…

just haven’t seen a movie that could be described as boring… many things, but not boring…

well, there was this one movie that kinda fits that description… the Fall of the Roman Empire… it was OK… but something… can’t put my finger on it… wasn’t “right”… the characters didn’t seem too… uh… developed… yeah, that’s it…

My picks for worse ever:

The Ice Storm–no redeeming moral value whatsoever.

Scary Movie–nearly walked out of the theater, but didn’t want to embarrass my DH in front of his friends.

Dark Star–seriously Hubby? You want to OWN this movie???

Someone mentioned Cider House Rules…I enjoyed the book, but the movie was kind of a waste of time.

Anything with Michael Moore’s name attached to it except Canadian Bacon which is a funny movie.

Movies So Bad, I Can Tell Without Even Seeing Them (mostly):

  • *]Borat
    *]Bruno
*]Just about any vehicle for Will Ferrel
*]About half of Ben Stiller’s resume
    *]Same for Jim Carrey

Just color me an old f@rt who does not appreciate the over-the-top, envelope-pushing, boundary-crossing “humor” perpetrated by these folks, especially Sascha Baron Cohen or Tom Green, when they involve Non-Player-Characters in their work.

    tee
Old F@rt who doesn’t “get” Facebook, MySpace or Twitter either 😛

Castaway.

Tom Hanks, on an island, having a monologue with a deflated ball with a face drawn on it.

HELP!!!

Blessings,

Gerry
