Yeah this really irked me too, but consider the source…

I heard the DNC was flying in Catholics from all over America to give the impression to voters that its ok to vote for someone who fights for infanticide. But so far they have not invited the Archbishop in the city of Denver itself - Archbishop Chaput - who is quite vocal in these matters…and wrote a great book about it - “Render Unto Ceasar”…

The sad part is this is giving “cover” for many Catholics…

Aside from that. I found Nancy Pelosi to be an intellectual weakling, like George Bush.
Jim
Not surprising that you find a way to slam President Bush even though he has nothing to do with this thread:rolleyes: . As for Pelosi, I am ashamed that she throws around the “I’m a strong Catholic” line at every turn. The truth is, she is ignorant of what the Church teaches. I cringe everytime she speaks with “Catholic authority”. Really need that puking smilie for this one:( .

I saw the interview and immediately recognized Nancy Pelosi misstating Catholic teaching, even St. Augustin’s teaching on when life begins. The Church and St Augustin have always taught that life begins at conception.

Aside from that. I found Nancy Pelosi to be an intellectual weakling, like George Bush. See seems to lack knowledge on issues, but merely uses the sound bits of their particular party and constituents. She even lost her train of thought as she was speaking on a couple issues. I can’t imagine how she was elected to congress.

Jim
Like most politicians, they say what will get them elected. They’ve memorized the playbook, they spout all the right phrases for the right constituancy and then do NOTHING. Or in the case of this President they do things and screw them up beyond recovery. At least Pelosi’s House has been so ineffective they haven’t screwed that much up.

It’s somewhat disappointing that over 30 hours has passed since Ms Pelosi made her pronouncements on what “ardent Catholics” believe, and the only official response I’ve been able to find (so far) is from Bill Donohue, with the Catholic League.

I hope the American bishops speak out and correct the speaker and all the other Catholic officials who support abortion. Better yet the Pope should say something about the speaker’s teachings of the Catholic Faith.
However it seems abortion is no longer important issue in our faith. We never pray for the unborn in my church and never is there a word spoken about the injustice of abortion.
So I guess things will stay the same and we will live with the teachings of the Catholic Faith in accordance with the speaker.

THOU SHALL NOT KILL

I appears that Ms.Pelosis does indeed have a problem with the “Real Presence”

In a book edited by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s daughter Kerry Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi contributes an essay in which she announces:
My granddaughter was getting ready for her First Communion. Around the time of the swearing-in, we were all just lying on the bed, after the tea or something, and she said to her mother, “I want to explain to Mimi” — that’s me — “that it is the body and *blood *of Christ. When we go to church, it is the body and blood of Christ.” So her mother, in the interest of trying to simplify, said “Yes, the host and the wine *represent *the body and blood of Christ.” And my granddaughter said, “Not represent. Is, it is the body and blood of Christ.” My granddaughter was buying into it, okay. But it is hard. Every Sunday for me it’s hard. Christ had died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again. Now think of it, we say that every week. Do I really believe he’s coming again? Yes, I believe he’s coming again. Christ died, Christ is risen, Chirst will come again. This is my body, this is my blood. They’re asking a lot. In my era, we didn’t question any of it.

Archbishop Chaput adressed this a bit in his sermon last night at 6:30 Mass

*If you’re Catholic and you disagree with your Church. What do you do? You change your mind.”

Very interesting and revealing.

or you leave…

It certainly is a teachable moment.

I dont expect the San Francisco area Bishops to say anything. I used to live there and went to Catholic church there that had watered everything down so much they never mentioned gay marriage or abortion. They have given in to the local peoples political views. Of course the media isnt go to fight to find them on this matter either. The web site below really proves Nancy wrong as if Catholics didnt know already:

For those of you who watched the interview, did you notice how Tom Brokaw was not even buying her explanation? He did insert in there how Catholic Church teaching was very much against abortion (with a real tone in his voice), and Nancy Pelosi had to come back immediately with “Well yeah, in only the last 50 years!”

🤷

Not that I count on Tom Brokaw to defend the church, but it looked to me that he recognized the lack of intellectual integrity in her answers (sounded like he had in some of her earlier responses too).

I wonder how Tim Russert would have dealt with her. I don’t know his abortion views, but I think he also very much fought against people giving misrepresenting answers.
I saw the interview and wanted to jump through the TV screen. I think that Tom Brokaw (who I believe is a man of integrity) seemed to “get it” and realize that she was misrepresenting the Church’s view. “Ardent Catholic” -baloney!

I really do miss Tim Russert in a situation like this; he would have gotten to the heart of the matter. It’s likely a good thing for Biden and Pelosi that he is not here to grill them on faith issues; I can see Tim just going nuts in heaven right about now. We’ll just have to hope he whispers in Tom Brokaw’s (or someone’s) ear.

I have nothing but utter disdain for so-called “Catholic” politicians who put party and NARAL ahead of their faith and helpless unborn children.

Less than one week and RealCatholic TV will go live - and every single day you will see the news presented in a way that TOTALLY supports the REAL Catholic view on these issues, and will call every single one of these politicians on the carpet for bone head statements like this.

It frustrates us to no end that we aren’t ready to launch yet when something like this happens - Oh how it would be so wonderful to speak out in the media and tell it like it really is!!!

Counting down… 👍

Actually, you admit that you’ve already left, rather than keep up a pretense, which politicians excel at.
I haven’t totally left yet…but I haven’t been to Mass in nearly a month so I guess I’ve got one foot out the door.
